A Christmas Sampler for the NC Blog Hop for December
November 24, 2019
Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for December! We are short on numbers, but not on inspiration! You might have come from Toni's blog. Wow! Great project! If you are just starting, please take the entire hop. You'll be so glad you did!
I have a sampler for you today! The frame came from Ikea several years ago and measures 9 x 9. It is a shadow box.
It's just hard to take a picture of something in glass, so here it is without the frame.
I'm really proud of how this turned out! The background is built on a piece of card board. I used the thick backing from some of our specialty papers cut to size. The background paper is from the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper. Cut it to 9 x 9 and glue to the card board.
Let's go one by one on how to make each square. The squares are all cut using the second largest square from the Stitched Shapes dies. The scallop squares are cut from the Layering Squares dies. All are adhered to the background with dimensionals and to each other with dimensionals.
The square is Night of Navy card stock and the scallop square is Pool Party. Using the Snow Globe Scenes dies, cut the trees (2 of them) from Sparkle Glimmer Paper. Cut the church from Whisper White card stock and line on the back with Copper Foil. Add everything with dimensionals. Add a star from the Star Design Elements.
The square is from the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper. The scallop square is Garden Green. Stamp two of the holly leaves in Memento Black ink on Whisper White. These come from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set. Paint the leaves with ink in the lid of your Real Red ink pad or Garden Green ink pad. Use your Wink of Stella Brush. Fussy cut and add with dimensionals to the square. Tie a bow with Linen Thread and add in two Jingle Bells.
The square is Whisper White run through the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder. Stamp with the snowflake stamp in Pool Party. This stamp is in Snowman Season. Snow was added to the bottom of the square with the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint. The penguin is from the Playful Penguins stamp set. Stamp in Memento Black ink on white and fussy cut. Stamp the hat and scarf in Real Red, fussy cut, and add with dimensionals.
The square is from the Let It Snow Specialty paper and the scallop square is Garden Green. Add snow to the bottom of the square with Snowfall Accents Puff Paint. Punch the snowman with the Snowman Builder Punch from Whisper White. Add the face and buttons using the Let It Snow Embellishment Kit. Use the puff paint around the features on the snowman. Mount the snowman on dimensionals and add the scarf and hat from the embellishment kit. Add the arms, too.
The Merry Christmas is from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set. Stamp in Real Red on Whisper White. Cut with the Rectangle Stitched dies. Add with 2 layers of dimensionals. Add a star from the Star Design Elements.
The square is in Pool Party and the scallop square is Garden Green. Cut two sets of trees from the Snow Globe Scenes dies in Garden Green. Sponge around with Garden Green. The bears are cut from Soft Suede and sponged. Add everything with dimensionals except the first set of trees. Add snowflakes from the Snowflake Sequins and a star from Star Design Elements.
The square is from the Let It Snow Specialty paper. Stamp the moose in Memento Black ink on Whisper White. Color with the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Blends. Use the Moose Punch to punch it out. Add with dimensionals. Stamp the hat in memento and the scarf in Real Red. Fussy cut and add to the moose. The stamp set used is Merry Moose. Add snowflakes from the Snowflake Sequins.
The background paper for this rectangle is from the Let It Snow Specialty paper. Cut it out with the Rectangle Stitched Shapes. Cut the next larger rectangle in Night of Navy. The tree is cut from the In the Woods dies. Cut the tree base and the tree again with the cut outs. Both are in Garden Green. Pull out the cut outs and apply Shimmery White Embossing Paste. Add this using your Palette Knives and clean up everything quickly so the paste does not dry and mess up your utensils. Allow the paste to dry on the tree. Add Red Rhinestones and a star from the Star Design Elements.
The square is from the Let It Snow Specialty paper. The scallop square is Pool Party. Stamp two of the trees from Snow Front in Early Espresso. Cut a Whisper White square and cut off the bottom for the snow. Stamp the deer from Snow Front in Early Espresso. Stamp the cottage in Soft Suede and fussy cut. Add with dimensionals.
For a sampler, just remember when in doubt use dimensionals and lots of them! You want everything to stay in place. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Next up is Laurie. Don't miss out on great projects!
