NC Demo Blog Hop for September Celebrating Fall

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for September.  We are celebrating fall.  I am personally hoping that this tribute to fall will bring some cooler temperatures.  Are you listening fall?  You might have just come from Toni's post.  She is so talented!

I decided to use the stamp set Gather Together from the Holiday catalog.  It has coordinating dies called Gathered Leaves.

Gather Together by Jo Anne Hewins

I'm just going to say that I love this card.  I love Pretty Peacock!  I love that Stampin' Up! has included this color as part of the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper.  It's just not my notion of the typical fall color.  Isn't that wonderful!

The card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp the large leaf from Gather Together in Pretty Peacock over the front of the card.

Add a strip of the Pretty Peacock check down the left side.  It measures 1 1/2 x 5 1/2.

Stamp the saying in peacock on a scrap of Very Vanilla.  Add some of the wheat in stamped off Crumb Cake over the saying.  Punch with the 1 1/2" circle punch.  Using the Layering Circles dies cut a scallop circle from Crumb Cake to frame the saying.  Add to the card with dimensionals.

Stamp the larges leaf on Very Vanilla in Pretty Peacock.  Use an Aqua Painter to spread the peacock color.  This will be very light.  In fact, it really does not show up in the picture.  Let it dry and then cut the leaf out with the Gathered Leaves dies.  Add the leaf with dimensionals so that it overlaps the sentiment circle a little.  Finish off with a Linen Thread bow attached with a rolled up glue dot.

This is a pretty simple card, but that's just a plus!

Here is the inside of the card.  You can see the leaves much better here.  Stamp the leaves and then use an Aqua Painter to spread a little of the color.  The saying is from the Gather Together stamp set.  It's stamped in Crumb Cake.

A Playful Penguin New Year

Yes, I know that it's not New Year's.  I participated in a challenge and part was to make a New Year's card using product from the Holiday catalog.  If you are a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, you know that the Stampin' Up! new year begins on October 1.  So, in that case maybe it appropriate.

Playful Penguins New Year project by Jo Anne Hewins

Just imagine that you are penguins on Antarctica at a New Year's Eve party.  The time approaches midnight.  Suddenly it's like there are only the two of you in a room of people.  Yeah!  I said just imagine!  So that's the premise for my card today.

I did post another card using the Playful Penguins stamp set and masking.  You can find that post here.  There's a video on that post showing the technique.

I'm not going to go to all of the particulars here.  I will tell you that I stamped the two penguins in the middle and then added the rest from there.  All were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I added a little grounding with Smoky Slate ink.  The bow ties were stamped on scrap Whisper White, cut out and added to the penguins.

I added some snowflakes in Pool Party from the Snowman Season stamp set.  Some were stamped off and some were not.  Those added between the penguins were added while masks were in place.

The saying is in Real Red and comes from the Playful Penguins stamp set.

The card base is Basic Black that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Whisper White layer is 4 x 5 1/4.

Here is the inside of the card with just our lovely couple, more snowflakes, and a saying also from the Playful Penguin stamp set.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #580 God's Peace

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  We have a sketch for challenge #580.

CCMC580

I used the stamp set God's Peace from the Holiday catalog.

CCMC#580 God's Peace by Jo Anne Hewins

For this card I started with a card base of Pretty Peacock that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4.  I have truly grown to love this color!  Randomly stamp the saying Joy to the World over the card front.  That saying is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set.

The banner is made using the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Use the largest Stitched Nested Label  die to cut the banner.

Add a 3/8" strip of Copper Foil near the top of the card.  The strip has been embossed with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder.

Stamp the candle on Vellum Cardstock in Versamark ink.  Emboss with Copper Emboss Powder.  Color in the images on the back of the vellum.  The colors used are Dark Real Red, Dark Pretty Peacock, Dark Old Olive, and Dark Daffodil Delight.  Go over the colors several times to get them deep and dark.  I think I colored them 3 times.  Fussy cut around the candle image.

CCMC #580 God's Peace Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Using the Layering Circles Dies, cut a circle that is close to 3" in diameter from Very Vanilla cardstock.  Adhere the candle.  Add the circle to the card front with dimensionals.

Stamp the saying in Pretty Peacock on Very Vanilla and cut around it.  Add to the card.  Use glue, but a dimensional is needed on the right.

Here is the inside of the card.  All is from God's Peace and stamped in Pretty Peacock.

Beauty & Joy Flower

The Beauty & Joy stamp set from the Holiday catalog is great for any season.  I've shown a fall sample and a Christmas card on other posts.   Click to find them.  Today I have another card for you showing yet another potted plant.

Beauty & Joy in Blackberry Bliss by Jo Anne Hewins

I haven't used Blackberry Bliss in a while.  I don't know why.  It certainly is a favorite.  The base of this card is Blackberry Bliss.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded in half at 4 1/4.

The linen look paper is from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I cut it at 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Stamp the saying from Beauty & Joy down in the lower right hand side of the card.  Stamp the dots from the set randomly over the surface.  This is all done in Blackberry Bliss.

Blackberry Bliss is part of the Regals family.  I used the Regals Designer Series Paper on my card.  Cut it 2 x 5 3/8 and place to the left side of the card.

Beauty & Joy in Blackberry Bliss Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the plant on Whisper White.  The pot is stamped in Soft Suede.  The stem is Early Espresso.  The leaves are Granny Apple Green.  The flowers are Blackberry Bliss.  Fussy cut each part and add to the Blackberry Bliss layer.  I started at the bottom and worked my way up using dimensionals.  I did want to ground my plant.  To do that, I used a stamp from Playful Penguins.  Stamp the grass in Granny Apple Green, fussy cut, and add under the pot.

Add Basic Pearls to the center of the flowers.  The bow is made using the Nature's Twine.  Take about an 8 inch piece of the Blackberry Bliss.  Pull apart the strands.  I added a bow with a glue dot.

The saying on the inside is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  Add a few Blackberry flowers around it.

Take another look at the Beauty & Joy stamp set if you haven't already.  It's a year round stamp set.

Travel Tissue Holder Box using Playful Penguin

I had one of my Bingo events Saturday celebrating the Holiday catalog.  It was so much fun.  I'll have some pictures at the end of this post.  Along with Bingo games and prizes from the Holiday catalog, we have several Make & Takes.  I want to share one of them with you today.

Playful Penguins Tissue Box by Jo Anne Hewins

I got this box idea from Angie Juda of chick n scratch.  It's her box #4.  Find the template here.  The box fits the tissue 3 pack found at Walmart.  You will need a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock.  You can get 2 from a sheet.

Outside measurements are 4 1/4 x 11 3/4.  Score on the portrait side at 1" on both sides.  Score on the landscape side at 4 3/8, 5 3/8, 9 3/4, 10 3/4.  Cut away the shaded areas.  Round the corners on the lid.  This diagram is directly from Angie Juda's post found here.   I do want to make sure she gets the credit for making the box.  I used Garden Green for my box.

For my decoration, the Stitched Nested Labels Dies were used to cut the stripe paper from the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper.  Since the background of this paper is Very Vanilla, I stamped the penguin on Very Vanilla.  The penguin is from the Playful Penguins stamp set.  Fussy cut the penguin and a hat and scarf.  Attach all to the box.

I added the penguin with dimensionals.  The saying is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set.  Stamp in Garden Green on Very Vanilla and cut out with the Layering Ovals Dies.  Cut a coordinating scallop oval from Real Red.  Attach this layer with dimensionals too.

We had fun making our boxes.  Here are a few pictures.

Add a knot of the Garden Green Double-Stitched Ribbon with a glue dot.

Playful Penguins Tissue Box with tissue by Jo Anne Hewins

Now, as you may know, it's not easy to get a lot of one color in 12 x 12 from Stampin' Up!  I actually used a retired pack that was available in an earlier year that was half Garden Green and half Poppy Parade.  My helpers Kaye and Jean came up with an alternative.

It seems that the Dollar Tree has a six pack of tissues that are smaller.  Dimensions can be adjusted for this size to fit our 8 1/2 x 11 paper.  You will be able to still get 2 from a sheet of cardstock.

The dimensions are 4 1/4 x 11.  Score at 1" on each side of the portrait orientation.  Score at 4 1/8, 5 1/8, 9 1/4, and 10 1/4 on the landscape side.  Make as above.

This is my husband John and my granddaughter Sagan.  She came to visit for the weekend.  I had Bingo planned, but I couldn't say no to keeping Sagan.  She came for lunch and then off with Gramps for a little while.
