A Playful Penguin New Year
September 27, 2019
Yes, I know that it's not New Year's. I participated in a challenge and part was to make a New Year's card using product from the Holiday catalog. If you are a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, you know that the Stampin' Up! new year begins on October 1. So, in that case maybe it appropriate.
Just imagine that you are penguins on Antarctica at a New Year's Eve party. The time approaches midnight. Suddenly it's like there are only the two of you in a room of people. Yeah! I said just imagine! So that's the premise for my card today.
I did post another card using the Playful Penguins stamp set and masking. You can find that post here. There's a video on that post showing the technique.
I'm not going to go to all of the particulars here. I will tell you that I stamped the two penguins in the middle and then added the rest from there. All were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I added a little grounding with Smoky Slate ink. The bow ties were stamped on scrap Whisper White, cut out and added to the penguins.
I added some snowflakes in Pool Party from the Snowman Season stamp set. Some were stamped off and some were not. Those added between the penguins were added while masks were in place.
The saying is in Real Red and comes from the Playful Penguins stamp set.
The card base is Basic Black that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4. The Whisper White layer is 4 x 5 1/4.
Here is the inside of the card with just our lovely couple, more snowflakes, and a saying also from the Playful Penguin stamp set.
