A Merry Moose Birthday

Welcome!  I'm so glad you are here today.  I am using the Merry Moose Bundle today.  You can find it on page 27 of the Holiday Catalog for Stampin' Up!  This bundle has the Merry Moose stamp set, and, it also has the Moose Punch!  I love a punch!

Merry Moose Birthday by Jo Anne Hewins

This card was inspired by the sample on page 27 of the catalog.

My card begins with a base of Thick Whisper White measuring 4 1/4 x 11.  Score at 5 1/2 and fold.  Cut off 1" from the bottom of the front of the card.

The checked paper is from the Regals 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  I am using Shaded Spruce.  You will need a piece cut at 1 1/8 x 4 1/4  Glue this to the bottom of the inside of the card.

The trees are stamped in Shaded Spruce and are from the Merry Moose stamp set.  Some of the trees are stamped off for a lighter look.  Be careful when you do this.  If you stamp a tree and part of it is off the card.  That line will show if you stamp it again.  I colored the trunks of the trees with my Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker (from the Neutrals pack).  The snow is stamped in Gray Granite ink.  The moose tracks are also in Gray Granite.

The moose is stamped on a scrap of Whisper White in Early Espresso.  I colored it with Light and Dark Crumb Cake Blends.  I used a scrap because I wanted the moose in front of the trees.  I also know that the blends will bleed through the card stock.  I didn't want that to show on the inside of the card.  Besides, I HAVE A PUNCH!   Punch out the moose and glue to the card base.  Stamp a scarf in Cherry Cobbler, fussy cut, and add to the moose.

The Happy Birthday is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  I love the font.  I did set this up on the Stamparatus just in case I needed to stamp it more than one time.

Here is the inside of the card.  The saying is from the Special Celebrations stamp set.  Stamp another tree and color the trunk with a Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker.

I love this card!  I also wanted to show that it isn't just for Christmas.  Here is a video on how to make this card.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #576 Snow Front

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #576.  This week we have a sketch.

CCMC576

I decided to use the new Snow Front stamp set from the Holiday catalog.  I really like this sketch.  In fact, I used it on a post yesterday.  Go here to see it.

Here is my card for today.

CCMC # 576 Snow Front by Jo Anne Hewins

Begin with a Gray Granite base cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

Cover the front with a layer of check paper.  I used the Gray Granite paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper.  Cut this at 4 1/2 x 5 1/2.  I used glue to attach this layer.  You will have a little give to move it if needed.

The Whisper White layer is 3 1/4 x 4.  Use the Snow Front stamp set to decorate.  I used Gray Granite for the mountains.  Stamp off one of them.  I also stamped the house and snowman in Gray Granite.  The trees are stamped in Mossy Meadow.  Some are stamped off before stamping.

Tie a length of the Gray Granite Textured Weave Ribbon around the layer and tie in a knot.  Add the layer to the card with snail.

CCMC #576 Snow Front Card by Jo Anne Hewins

The Happy Birthday is from the Perennial Birthday.  I used the Rectangle Stitched Dies to cut this out.  First cut close to the top of the Happy Birthday.  Now put the die so that the bottom is close.  Be sure to try to match the sides to the die.  Now the die cuts perfectly to the size of the words.  Add this label with dimensionals.

Finish the card with Basic Adhesive Backed Sequins.  I used the white ones.

The inside of the card uses Snow Front and the Perennial Birthday stamp sets.

I liked this card so much that I wanted to use it for my September class.  I just didn't have enough of the check designer paper without ordering a lot of packs.  So, I redesigned the card using the Buffalo Check background stamp.

I also changed to the Metallic Pearls.  I had lots of the silver so that will work great for class.  The label is just cut to 1 x the length of the word.  We will use the Stamparatus for the background stamp!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  The Holiday Catalog goes live on September 4th!  I hope you have your list ready to go.  You are going to love it all.

Snow Front Birthday

Hello!  Hope you are well today!  I have a card using the Snow Front stamp set from the Holiday catalog.

Snow Front by Jo Anne Hewins

I love this stamp set.  It's so easy.  It works with the set Waterfront so well, too.  The possibilities are endless.  I wanted to make a birthday card with this instead of Christmas.  We all love stamps that can be used in many ways, don't we!

Start with a card base of Soft Suede that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and fold at 4 1/4.  The next layer is from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Cut this to 4 x 5 1/4.  This paper is gorgeous!  It was one that I thought I didn't need.  I was so wrong.  This paper is a little thinner, but it's still printed on both sides.  You get 4 of each sheet, too!

The Whisper White layer is 3 x 3 3/4.  I used the colors Highland Heather for the mountains, Soft Suede for the house, Early Espresso for the deer, and Mossy Meadow for the trees.  I did stamp off for some of the mountains and trees.  Wrap Linen Thread around the left side of this layer and add a bow with a glue dot.

Snow Front Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set.  Stamp this in Highland Heather on a 1" wide strip.  Trim to the length needed.

Snow Front Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the inside of the card.  This saying is from Perennial Birthday, also. Snow Front Project by Jo Anne Hewins

This card goes quickly and I think it's really pretty!

NC Blog Hop for August - All About Flowers!

Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for August.  Our hop is always on the last Sunday of the month and goes live at 8:00 pm ET.  I'm so glad you are here!  You might have just joined us or you may have come from Toni's blog.  Great project, right!  Whatever, please visit all of the sites on our hop.  You are sure to be inspired!

Our task for this month is all about flowers.  We were to find a picture for our inspiration and make a card to go with it.  My inspiration is my hydrangea bush in the yard.  I have to say it's not as pretty this year as in the past, but it's still pretty.  I took my own picture.

NC flowers

It looks great from this angle.  I'm so excited to share my card with you.

Beautiful Friendship Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I used the Beautiful Friendship and the Healing Hugs stamps sets.  They are both Distinktive and really work well together.

My card base is Blueberry Bushel that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Seaside Spray 3 3/4 x 5.

I just built my flower on this layer.  Everything is fussy cut for this card.  If you enjoy that, and I do, then this card is so much fun.  The cutting is not hard at all!

All of my stamping is on Whisper White.  To be truthful, I used my scraps.  Ink the hydrangea stamp in Seaside Spray.  I used an ink dauber to add a little Blueberry Bushel ink directly to the stamp in a few places.  Stamp.  You will need two of these.  So that you don't contaminate the lighter blue, clean your stamp between stampings.  Fussy cut around the edges.  I did leave a white area around the stamped image.  Add Wink of Stella to the flowers.  They needed a little sparkle!  Add these to the card with dimensionals.

Beautiful Friendship and Healing Hugs by Jo Anne Hewins

The leaves are stamped in Mossy Meadow.  I used 13 sets of leaves.  I did cut one set into the 2 leaves to add in the corners.  Fussy cut all of them.  Again, I left a little white area around the outside.  Add to the card as you feel they are needed.  I added a glue dot to the bottom of the leaves and dimensionals to the top.  I just glued where the leaves overlap the flowers.  That's all there is to it.

The saying is from the Beautiful Friendship.  Stamp in Mossy Meadow.  Cut it out and glue to the flower.

I think this is really pretty and it was also pretty easy if you don't mind cutting!

This is the inside of the card.  This is all from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set.  I did add the Wink of Stella on the inside, too!

Quick and Easy Bird Ballad Card

I have a cute easy card for you today.

Bird Ballad Card by Jo Anne Hewins

The Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper is so pretty.  It's one of those papers that make cards without adding much of anything else.  In other words, easy.

For this card the base is Thick Whisper White 4 1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/5.

The feathers paper from Bird Ballad is cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  Add a strip of the pink dots measuring 1 1/2 x 4 below the center.

Cut a branch using the Seasonal Layers Dies from Early Espresso and glue to the card across the pink paper.

Cut a bird from the designer paper filled with birds with snips.  Add to the card.
