I'm featuring the Inspiring Iris stamp set this week. It can be found on page 111 of the Stampin ' Up! 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. Go here to see my card from earlier in the week using Inspiring Iris. This is my card for Day 2.
This card was inspired by Mary Deatherage. I changed a few things.
The card base is Merry Merlot cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.
The next layer, cut at 4 x 5 1/4, is from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper is fantastic. It is thinner than our regular DSP, but it is still double sided. You get 4 of each sheet in the pack instead of 2! I love that! You really need to see this paper to understand how great it is.
I used the long design stamp to add a little something to the designer paper. This stamp does not reach all the say across the layer. It doesn't matter since the center layers cover up any places they might not meet or look funny. Use the grid paper to help get the lines straight across the paper. Mine isn't quite straight, but I think it looks fine.
Stamp the black outline of the iris on a piece of Whisper White. I used my Stamparatus to make sure that I had a good dark outline. Now stamp the leaves in Granny Apple Green and the iris in Merry Merlot. Let me tell you that these do not line up exactly with the black outline. Just do your best and know that it does not match everywhere. This is done on purpose to add to the style. Cut this layer out with the Rectangle Stitched Dies (5th one in). While you are at it, cut another rectangle in Merry Merlot.
Wrap a couple rows of Linen Thread around the paper and add the layer to the card base.
The Merry Merlot layer is put on a little askew on the card. The Whisper White layer is straight.
Stamp the sentiment using the Inspiring Iris stamp set. Cut out with the 3rd rectangle in from the group of 4. This will be too long. The first cut should have the end close to the Sending. Now move the die so that the other end is close to the other end. You can kind of feel when the dies pops into the stitching alread there. Run through your cutting machine again to get your tag tailored right to the saying. Add to the bottom of the iris layer. Add a couple pieces of the Pressed Flowers Specialty Washi tape to decorate.
A Linen Thread bow, added with a rolled up glue dot, finishes the front of the card.
Here is the inside of the card. Stamp the irises just as on the front. Add the saying in merlot.
I think this card would really give comfort to someone in need. Bet you know someone!
Thanks for your time today. More Inspiring Iris and Thusday and Friday.
