The Good Morning, Magnolia stamp set is just magnificent! I am a southerner you know and we love our magnolias. I noticed looking through Pinterest that there were some white magnolias on Crumb Cake card stock. They are so striking! I just had to try it. Here is my card.
The card base is Crumb Cake that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4. Stamp around the outside of the base with the small flower from the Good Morning, Magnolia stamp set. Stamp in early espresso. Turn the stamp as you go around the outside.
The Crumb Cake smaller layer measures 3 1/4 x 4 1/2. Stamp the large magnolia from the top and from the bottom in Versamark ink after using the Embossing Buddy all over the surface. I stamped a smaller portion of the flower at the top and a larger portion at the bottom. Cover with gold emboss powder and melt using the Heat Tool. For my sample I used Craft White ink and my Aqua Painter. Put a couple drops on a clear block. Add just a couple drops of water from the Aqua Painter and paint the flower. I really didn't pay attention to the gold embossing inside the flower and just painted over it. I don't recommend that. The gold does not shine through. We made this card in class and, with that suggetion, the cards were prettier. You will probably need more than one coat of ink. Wait for it to dry between or use your Heat Tool to make it dry faster. Once you like your look and all is dry, use a sponge dauber to add some Petal Pink ink around the center of the flower. Color the leaves with a Light Old Olive Blend and the stem with Light Soft Suede.
This layer is adhered to a 3 3/8 x 4 5/8 piece of Early Espresso card stock. Run two rounds of Linen Thread around the card. I usually just tape this on from the back. Add this panel to the card base with Foam Adhesive Strips.
You can see from this picture that the gold embossing did not show well after I added the white ink. Heed my suggestion that you not color over the embossing!
Stamp Hello from the Good Morning, Magnolia stamp set in Versamark and gold emboss. It's cut out with a die from the Perfect Parcel dies. Add to the card on dimensionals. The Linen Thread bow is added with a rolled up glue dot.
Here is the inside of the card. All stamping is done in Early Espresso ink. I used the Light Petal Pink and the Light Old Olive Blends to color in the flower.
I learned a lot making this card. Here is a video with a few tips. See what you think.
