Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #562 Sailing Home

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  This week we have a sketch.

CCMC562

I'm getting all excited now about our new 2019-2020 Stampin Up! Annual catalog that goes live on June 4th.  Today I'm using the new Sailing Home stamp set.

CCMC #562 Come Sail Away by Jo Anne Hewins

This card also features some new paper from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper.  It's really pretty.

The card base is Night of Navy cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The Come Sail Away paper is cut at 4 x 5 1/4 for the card front.

The Sahara Sand panel is 2 x 3 7/8 .  Use the Stamparatus to stamp the sailboat and birds.  You want to get good dark images.  The navy strip paper is cut to 1/2 x 3 1/2.  The Balmy Blue stripe is 3/4 x 3.  I use my Grid Paper to add these papers so that everything is straight.  Add all of this to the card base with dimensionals.

CCMC #562 Come Sail Away Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying is stamped on Whisper White in Night of Navy and punched out with the 1 1/2" Circle Punch.  Add this with dimensionals also.

Add some of the new Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker's Twine.  I think that might be some kind of sailor's knot, but I really don't know.  I used glue dots to adhere the twine.

Above the Clouds

It won't be long until the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! catalog will be live.  It's time to get you a little excited!  Today I'll be using the Above the Clouds stamp set and the Hot Air Balloon Punch.  I love it when a stamp set has a coordinating punch.  They are so easy and quick.  You can also get these together as a bundle and save 10%.  Talk about easy and quick, here is my card.

Above the Clouds for Whisk & Barrel by Jo Anne Hewins

This card also uses one of our new In Colors for 2019-2021, Seaside Spray.  It's used for the card base and is cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Fold at 4 1/4.  Stamp over the front of the card with the clouds in Seaside Spray.  Make sure to see that the outside areas are stamped.  The center will be covered.

The Pumpkin Pie layer is 3 1/8 x 4 3/8.  The Blueberry Bushel layer is 3 x 4 1/2.   There are dimensionals between these two layers.

The Whisper White layer is 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.  Down in the right corner, stamp the saying from Above the Clouds in Blueberry Bushel.  Now do a little two step stamping.  For the balloons, stamp the little trio in Seaside Spray in two places.  Now stamp off the same color and stamp the solid balloons.  These are meant to have a little of a watercolor look.  Now stamp the clouds again here and there.

On Whisper White, stamp the large balloon in Pumpkin Pie.  Now stamp off the solid image and stamp.  Stamp the lined basket in Crumb Cake and the solid basket in stamped off Crumb Cake.  Use the Hot Air Balloon Punch to punch these out.  Add to the white layer.

A Brusho Dandelion Wishes Card

Brusho is retiring.  It's a really neat medium.  I finally tackled using it in a class.  It worked out well.  My card today was inspired by Amanda Fowler.

Dandylion Wishes by Jo Anne Hewins

The base of the card is Blueberry Bushel.  The next Daffodil Delight layer measures 4 x 5 1/4.

I used Watercolor Paper for the next layer.  It is cut at 4 1/2 x 6.  That's 1/2 of a Watercolor Paper sheet.  I will cut this down later.  Our Watercolor Paper is also retiring.  It will be replaced.  So far, we don't know what the difference will be.

You will need to protect your surface and have a paper towel ready.  For this technique spray the surface of the watercolor paper with a Stampin' Spritzer filled with water.  Get it pretty wet.  Add sprinkles from the Prussian Blue and the Yellow.  Use a push pin to make a tiny hole in the lid of the sprinkles.  That way you can shake the container and not use too much.  The final product actually looks best on a darker surface, so I used more of the blue than yellow.  If you feel you need more water, add it.  If you get too much water, just dab at it with the paper towel.  The paper may bow up, but don't worry about that now.  Allow to dry.  After the color has set, you can speed up the process with the Heat Tool.  Sometimes the paper straightens out as it dries.  You can heat it from the back side also to help it flatten.  When dry, cut this layer to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  Look at the overall piece and decide where you want to trim according to the design you have made.  Everyone of these would look different.  Make it something you love.

I set the stamps from Dandelion Wishes up on the Stamparatus leaving the lower right  empty since the sentiment will be there.  You will stamp all of the stamps at one time.  Rub over the surface with the Embossing Buddy.  I will warn you that the color will rub off a little on the Embossing Buddy.  If you have an old one, use it.  Stamp with VersaMark.  Repeat if you feel it might not be heavy enough.  It's a little harder to stamp on watercolor paper.  Cover the panel with White Emboss Powder and melt wit the Heat Tool.  Add the layer with Tear & Tape to make sure it adheres well.

Dandelion Wishes Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Doesn't it look pretty!  The sentiment is from First Frost.  Stamp in Blueberry Bushel on a scrap of Whisper White.  Notch the end.  Add some White Baker's Twine behind the sentiment.  I used glue dots.  Add the sentiment with dimensionals.

Dandelion Wishes Brusho by Jo Anne Hewins

This really a striking card.  I love all the elements.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  I hope you will try the Brusho before it disappears.  As I said before, it is retiring.  We only have about 2 weeks left to order from the old annual catalog!  Order here!

Beauty Abounds CASE from Kelly Acheson

Today I have a CASE (Copy and Share Everything).  This card uses the Beauty Abounds stamp set that will be carried over to the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  I'm happy about that!  Kelly Acheson first made this card.  I think it's so pretty that I don't think I changed anything except the designer paper and the colors.  She has a great video that shows how to make the card here.  There's no need in me making another.  Here is my card.

Beauty Abounds CASE by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is Rich Razzleberry.  The base measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score at 1" and 4 1/4"

Stamp over the front of the card base with a butterfly from Beauty Abounds.  Use Rich Razzleberry ink.  Now bend back at the 1" score line.  You can put a little gle behind there to hold it in place.  Add a strip of Share What You Love Designer Series Paper that measures 7/8 x 5 1/2.  Tie around this section from top to bottom with Black Twine and tie in a bow near the top.

For the front panel, you will need a piece of Basic Black cardstock that measures 3 x 4 1/4.  The Whisper White layer is 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.  Stamp in Tuxedo Black Memento ink with the long swirls stamp down the side.  Add the stamp again across the bottom.  The saying is from Beauty Abounds.  Color this with Light Razzleberry, Light Old Olive, and Light Crumb Cake Blends.  Adhere the layers.  When attaching this to the card, take warning that part of the layer will extend over the card front.  Be careful when adding the dimensionals.

Beauty ABounds CASE Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The inside Whisper White of the card measures 4 x 5.  Score and fold at 2 1/2 along the 5 inch side.  Stamp the saying and add another strip of the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper that is 7/8 x 4.  Stamp the swirl on the other side of the fold and color as on the front.  Glue down the right side of this insert lining up with the fold.  For the left side, add a glue dot and close the card.  If you glue this side, it will not look pretty.

Beauty Abounds CASE for Blog by Jo Anne Hewins

It's really not easy to take pictures of this card.  I do love that the layout is just a little different than usual!  Thanks, Kelly!  I love the saying, too!

Thanks so much for visiting today!  You are the best!  If I can send you one of the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogs, please let me know.  I would love to be your demonstrator.

Stamping Around the World Blog Hop, Lilypad Lake

Welcome to the Stamping Around the World May Blog Hop.  For the May tutorial, I used the stamp set Lilypad Lake.  Today I have a very different card using this stamp set and the Lakeside Dies.  You might have just come from Sue's blog.  Great project!

Here is my card.

Lilypad Lake by Jo Anne Hewins

I have a video that I will add near the end of my post.

Start with a card base of Night of Navy.  It is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Pool Party base is 4 x 5 1/4.

Next is a layer of Whisper White.  It measures 3 3/4 x 5.  Stamp the waves from Lilypad Lake in Night of Navy.  I started at the bottom of the layer and worked up.  I stamped this 3 times.  Now sponge over the entire layer with Pool Party.  I had places that were a little heavier than others.  It doesn't matter because the sky and sea have variations.

Use the Lakeside Dies to cut a sun from Daffodil Delight.  The clouds are cut using the Up & Away Dies that are retiring.  Cut three clouds from Whisper White.  Glue the sun and clouds to the layer.

Use the Layering Squares to cut two squares from this layer to form a frame.

Adhere all of the layers including the outside part of the sponged layer.  Lay the frame so that it fits inside the hole.  Now add adhesive to the inside of the square and adhere.  Remove the frame and add Foam Adhesive Strips and adhere so that everything is aligned.

Stamp two sets of the boats on Whisper White with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Color these using the Light Mango Melody, Light Night of Navy, and Dark Real Red Blends.  Cut out with the Lakeside Dies.  Add to the card.

The saying is stamped on a 3/4 inch strip of Whisper White.  Use Night of Navy ink.  Notch the ends and add to the card.  Add a boat with a dimensional.
