Featuring the Good Morning, Magnolia Set and the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper

Hello!  The Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper is fabulous!  In fact, all of the new patterned papers are gorgeous in the new Stampin' Up! 2019-2020 Annual Catalog going live on June 4th!  Today, the Magnolia Lane paper is the star of the show.  You can make really simple cards that have a great wow factor.

Good Morning Magnolia for Whisk & Barrel Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Do you see what I mean?  I think this is so pretty!  And it's easy!

Start with a card base of Early Espresso.  It is cut at 5 1/2 x 8  1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Petal Pink measuring 3 3/4 x 5.  Finally we have a layer of the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper that measures 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  Before you adhere the pink layer, add a length of the new Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon just below the center of the layer.  I just use regular tape on the back to hold that in place.

On a Whisper White scrap stamp the word hello in Early Espresso so that it will be near the bottom.  Punch out with the 2 1/4" Circle Punch.

On another scrap of Whisper White, stamp the smaller magnolia in Early Espresso.  Use the Light Mossy Meadow Blend for the leaves and the Light and Dark Petal Pink Blends to color the flower.  I left most of the flower white.  Cut out with the Magnolia Memory dies.  Glue this to the circle just above the sentiment.  Add the circle to the card with dimensionals.

Add a bow to the side of the circle with a glue dot.

Here is the inside of the card.  Add another flower that is stamped directly onto the paper.  Color with Blends as above.  The saying is from Good Morning, Magnolia.

I love this!  This paper makes the card.  You just don't have to do a lot.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #563 To a Wild Rose

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  This week we are using the colors of Berry Burst, Pumpkin Pie, and Bermuda Bay.

CCMC563

Here is the card I made using these colors.  I'll tell you quickly that these colors together are a little outside of my box.  I think I like my result, but I really haven't comvinced myself.  You'll have to let me know what you think.

CCMC #563 To A Wild Rose by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Bermuda Bay that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Pumpkin Pie layer is 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.

The Whisper White layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  I need to give credit to Melissa Kerman for showing her technique of making your own stamp pad at the Charlotte OnStage.  That's what I did with this card.  Place a piece of felt inside one of the Standard Stamp Cases.  These can be purchased in a four pack.  With the Pumpkin Pie inker make a solid circle of ink in the center of the felt.  Make this about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.  Now add Berry Burst inker around this so that the finished circle is about 2 3/4.  Make sure your homemade stamp pad is as big as your stamp you want to use.  Close the case and you can use the  pad again.  You might need to spritz with a little water or add more ink.

Now use the largest flower from the To a Wild Rose stamp set and your new pad.  Stamp the flower randomly over the Whisper White layer.  The stamp was very juicy so I held it in place about 5 seconds each time so the ink could adhere to the paper.  It's really vibrant.  I really do like how the two colors blend in together.  Stamp the center of the flowers in Bermuda Bay.

CCMC #563 To a Wild Rose Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

For the tag, I used a 1 3/4" wide piece of Whisper White cardstock and a 2" piece of Berry Burst.  Use the new Delightful Tag Topper Punch for the ends of these.  The saying is from To a Wild Rose.  Stamp in Bermuda Bay.  Now trim the end of the white where you think it fits the saying.  Trim the Berry Burst tag so that it is a little longer than the white.  Notice that the punched ends fit together.  I had a little piece of left over Bermuda Bay Mini Striped Ribbon.  Slip this through the hole and trim the ends.  At this point I added the tag to the card with dimensionals.  I used glue dots to put the ends of the striped ribbon where I wanted them.  Using Whisper White Baker's Twine, make a bow and add it with glue dots.  I do use a bow maker for my bows.  Add a few of the orange sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment.  It does not list Pumpkin Pie as one of the colors in the pack, but I thought it looked close enough.

And here is the inside of the card.  Stamp the flower again.  The hello is from To A Wild Rose.  Add a few more sequins.  I added mine because I have a stray mark, but that's what we do, isn't it!  These colors are growing on me!

Garden Lane Designer Series Paper with Good Morning, Magnolia

If you have your new Stampin' Up! 2019-2020 catalog, you've seen how beautiful the designer series paper is this year!  It is fabulous.  Today I am showcasing a piece of the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper.  It coordinates well with the Good Morning, Magnolia bundle.

Good Morning Magnolia Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Mossy Meadow that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Petal Pink cut at 3 3/4 x 5.  The Garden Lane patterned paper measures 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

Now the fun begins!  The Petal Pink flower outline is part of the Magnolia Memories Dies.   The two Mossy Meadow leaves are also from those dies.  Glue those down to the card.

The vellum piece is punched with the Starburst Punch.  I adhered this with a few glue dots under where the flower would go.

The magnolia is stamped in Early Espresso.  Color the leaves with the Light and Dark Mossy Meadow Blends.  Parts of the flower are colored with the Light and Dark Petal Pink Blends.  Add a little Wink of Stella to make it stand out a little more.  Cut this out using the Magnolia Memories Dies.  Add with dimensionals.

The Mossy Meadow twine is part of a duo pack of ribbon called the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack.  Add with a rolled up glue dot.

The Hello is stamped in Mossy Meadow.  Fussy cut around it and add with dimensionals.

This is the inside of the card.  I love that flourish stamp!  So lovely!

Good Morning Magnolia Swap by Jo Anne Hewins

Did you notice how well this paper works with the magnolia?  Stampin' Up! excels in this department.

NC SU Demo Blog Hop, A Fond Farewell to Some Favorites

Welcome to the NC Stampin' Up! Blog Hop for May.  It's a bitter sweet hop because we are saying goodbye to so many wonderful products.  It's hard to do, but it's a necessary evil.  Just wait until you see what's coming in that new catalog!  You may have just come from Anita's blog.  What a project!  So glad you are here.

Today I pay tribute to several of my favorites.  My card features the outgoing In Colors, the Wood Crate Dies, and the lovely Falling Flowers and coordinating May Flowers Dies.

Falling Flowers Goodbye for NC Blog Hop by Jo Anne Hewins

So, yes, this card has a lot to it.  Yes, it took a while to make it.  No, it is not hard!  Before I start let me say that retiring items are while supplies last.  I know that some of these products will no longer be available when you read this.  That's sad, but just the way it is.

Start with a card base of Thick Whisper White.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.  Add a layer of Lemon Lime Twist designer series paper.  This paper comes from the In 2017-2019 In Color DSP, retiring.  It's cut to cover the entire front of the card, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue this.  That allows you just a little give when placing it.

Use the Wood Crate Dies to cut the front of the crate.  The paper is from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.  Oh, sadness, yes, it is retiring (gone).  I cut another piece of the wood textures to go behind and hide the slats.  Add with dimensionals.

Now, it's time to make lots of flowers.  I used the Watercolor Paper, retiring, but being replaced, and an Aqua Painter.  The flowers are a tribute to the outgoing In Colors.  I used Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, and Powder Pink.  All are retiring!  Press the lids of the pads to get color to use.  Stamp the flowers in Stazon.  Color.  I just stamped a bunch of flowers using the Falling Flowers stamp set, retiring.  I did add in Daffodil Delight and something new, Seaside Spray!  Cut it all out with the May Flowers Dies, retiring.

Falling Flowers Goodbye for NC Blog Hop Right Side of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Now, just arrange the flowers.  Stick them where you think they look good.  I didn't necessarily stick to using odd numbers of flowers, but I like it.  I used dimensionals, glue dots, and glue to get it all put in there.  Have fun!

Falling Flowers Goodbye for NC Blog Hop Card by Jo Anne Hewins

The sentiment is from the Wood Words stamp set, retiring.  Stamp in Fresh Fig.  Punch with the 1 inch Circle Punch.  The frame is punched using the 1 1/8" Scallop Circle Punch.  Add a beautiful bow of Linen Thread with a glue dot.

Next up is Tina.  You will love her project!  Thanks so much for joining the hop.  My list of products is below.  Warning, some will no longer be available.  You have until June 3rd and then they will all be gone!  Shop here!

New Dies are Coming, Hurray!

My card for today uses three brand new dies coming in the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Annual catalog on June 4th.  I'll give you a little peek of a card using the Magnolia Memory Dies, the Stitched Lace Dies, and the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  They are all just magnificent!

Good Morning Magnolia 3D Lace by Jo Anne Hewins

Don't you love it!  That flower is already super popular on Pinterest.  It's so easy to make.  Stampin' Up! has a video coming out on the 4th that shows how to do it.  It's basically three cut outs, sponged with a dauber in the center with So Saffron ink, curled with a bone folder and glued together off center.  The center of the flower was cut in Early Espresso in the small and the large sizes.  Put a Faceted Gem in the middle and curl up the end pieces.  I tried to find out what these would be called.  I think it's the filament.  Educate me, please!  The leaves are in Mossy Meadow and are part of the Magnolia Memories Dies, too.

Good Morning magnolia 3D Magnolia by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is Mossy Meadow that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The So Saffron layer is 4 x 5 1/4.  I have cut another So Saffron layer and used the Stitched Lace Dies to cut out that intricate lace pattern.  The die itself is just a little larger than a card front.  There is an edge die to use to cut the pretty lace bottom.  To adhere the lace layer, I used a sponge, the Silicone Craft Mat, and Multipurpose Glue.  Put a blob of glue on a corner of the mat.  Lay the lace face down and dab it with the glue sponge.  I added it to the So Saffron layer and turned it to the back and trimmed away any extra hanging over.

The saying is from the Petals & Parcels stamp set.  It's stamped in Mossy Meadow on Whisper White and cut out with the Stitched Nested Labels.  Add with dimensionals.

The bow is from a duo of ribbons called Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack.  The other ribbon is a pretty linen ribbon.  Add the twine with a glue dot.

Add three more of the smaller Faceted Gems to the card.

Here's the inside of the card.  The saying is from Petals & Parcels.  The flower is from the Good Morning, Magnolia stamp set.  Use the Light Mossy Meadow and the Light Daffodil Delight Blends to color the flower.

I made this card for two special friends who both had 70th birthdays!  Happy Birthday to Kaye and to Susan!  I hope you liked your cards!
