Free as a Bird Sneak Peek

I know I shouldn't tease you like this.  It's unfair to put something on my blog that you can't get.  I just have to do it.  I received this set, Free as a Bird, at OnStage in Charlotte Saturday.  I have a few people on my team with birthdays in April and wanted to give them a card using something new.  Here is my card with Free as a Bird.

Free as a Bird Sneak Peek Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I just didn't want to wait because there are items used on this card that are on the Last Chance list.  They go so perfectly I wanted you to have a chance to get them.  I KNOW that you are going to want Free as a Bird as soon as possible.  When can you get it, you ask?  There is a preorder for demonstrators beginning May 2nd.  This set might be on the preorder, but we don't know yet.  The 2019-2020 Annual Catalog goes live on June 4th.  Yes, that is a long time to wait.  Get your Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and Sheet Music Background stamp today!

Start with a base of Thick Whisper White that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.

Cut the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Stamp with the leaf stamp from Free as a Bird in Soft Suede over the outside edges of the card.  Change directions with your stamp and don't be afraid to stamp off the edges.  It looks more natural.  Glue to the card front.

Stamp with the Sheet Music background stamp, stamp off, on a piece of Whisper White that is 4 x 5 1/4.  Tear out a large oval shape.  Sponge around the outside of this and a little on the inside.  Glue to the card front.

Stamp the birds in a row and 4 of the larger flowers on Soft Suede on Whisper White.  Color with Blends.  I used Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo, Light and Dark Old Olive, Light and Dark Crumb Cake, Light Daffodil Delight, and Light Mango Melody.  Since I don't have the dies yet, I fussy cut all of this.  I love to fussy cut!  Add the birds with dimensionals.

The saying is from the same set.  Stamp in Soft Suede and cut it out using the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  Add with dimensionals.  Add a flower to the corner.  Part of the flower has glue and the part sticking out has a dimensional.  The flowers at the top are one glued and the other on dimensionals.

Add a bow of Linen Thread with a rolled up glue dot.

Here is the inside of my card.  I colored the leaves with an Old Olive marker so it would not bleed through to the back.  This this the fourth flower I said you would need.  Fussy cut and glue on.  The saying is from the Free as a Bird stamp set.

Birthday Cheer with the Stamping Around the World Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamping Around the World Blog Hop for April.  For our hop we always feature the same stamp set we used for our part of the April tutorial.  I'll be using the Birthday Cheer stamp set.

Image may contain: text

For our April tutorial I featured the Birthday Cheer bundle.   This bundle will be retired.  It's now while supplies last, or in some markets it is already discontinued.  For those of you fortunate enough to have it, I hope you will like this card.

Birthday Cheer Card for Stamping Around the World by Jo Anne Hewins

Now that the Retiring List has been published, we know that some of the products used in my card will be going away.  I'll point that out for you.  As I stated above, most are while supplies last.

I used a card base of Thick Whisper White that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.

A layer of Whisper White measuring 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 was run through the Big Shot with the Oh My Stars folder.  The Big Shot and the folder are both retiring.  Glue this to the front of the card.

The Subtles 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, retiring, was used for the card.  I used Blushing Bride, Pool Party, and Highland Heather.  Cut a square using the Stitched Shapes dies from each color.  Add these to the left side of the card with dimensionals.  I find it easier to space if you put the two on each end and then fill in the middle.  Barely push down the squares until you have them aligned and spaced well.

Cut a different cupcake from each of the colors of cardstock using the Detailed Birthday Edgelit Dies.  Some fussy cutting will be required to cut them apart.  Also cut the full cupcake shape from each other.  Adhere the cupcake to its base.  Go ahead and glue a cupcake to each dotted square.

Cut the top part of each cupcake with the corresponding dotted color.  Keep all those little pieces and add them to the cupcakes for the icing.

The saying is from the Birthday Cheer stamp set.  Stamp in Pool Party on Whisper White.  Punch out with the 1 1/2" Circle Punch.  Punch a Highland Heather circle using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch for a frame.

The candle is made using the Broadway Lights Dies, Blushing Bride paper, and Daffodil Delight cardstock.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #557 Bike Ride

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #557.  This week we have the color combination of Pineapple Punch, Blueberry Bushel, and Granny Apple Green.

CCMC557

The only thing not retiring from my card are the colors!  I'm going to hate seeing some of these products go away.  Here is my card.

CCMC#557 Bike Ride by Jo Anne Hewins

Bike Ride and the Build a Bike Dies just did not see enough love from me.  I'm happy I chose them for today's challenge.  They are retiring.

Start the card with a base of Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.  The Best Route Designer Series Paper is also retiring.  This bike paper is cut to the same size as the card front, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue to the front of the card base.  A strip of the Pineapple Punch striped paper that is 1 1/4 x 5 1/2 if added just below the half way point.  This is from the 2018-2020 In Color DSP packs that are retiring.

The Granny Apple Green layer is 3 x 4 1/4.  The Whisper White layer is 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.  It's embossed with the Polka Dots Basic folder.  Guess what?  It's retiring!  Add these layers to the center of the card.

Stamp the bike parts on Whisper White scraps.  The frame is in Granny Apple Green ink and the two wheels are in Blueberry Bushel ink with Pineapple Punch circles added in.  Cut out the frame to hold the basket from Granny Apple Green cardstock.  The basket outline is stamped in Crumb Cake and the filler is Crumb Cake stamped off.  Stamp the flowers outline in Crumb Cake and the insides in Pineapple Punch.  Use the Build a Bike Dies to cut out all the parts.  You'll have to fussy cut those flowers along the bottom.  On a piece of Blueberry Bushel designer paper stamp again the handlebars, seat, and petals.  Stamp in blueberry.  Fussy cut these and add them to the bike.  Cut out the handlebar streamers from the same paper.  Assemble the bike and add it to the card with dimensionals.

The saying is from Best Birds.  It's retiring!  Stamp in Blueberry Bushel and punch out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch, retiring.  The frame is punched from Granny Apple Green with the 1 3/8" Scallop Punch.  Add with dimensionals.

I think this makes a really cute card.  With spring arriving it's perfect!

Thanks for joining me today on the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  I love these colors together!  If you need a demonstrator I would love for you to consider me!

Fable Friends Easter Card

I have just a quick post today.  I'm still trying to catch up from the OnStage weekend.  Oh, what fun!

I'm going to share my Easter card for the shut-ins at church made using Fable Friends.

Easter Note Cards by Jo Anne Hewins

My card uses the Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes.  I love that these are already cut and ready to go!  It's a great deal too.

I added a strip of the Highland Heather check from the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper down the center of the card that measures 1 1/4 x 5.

Cut the largest oval from the Stitched Shapes dies from Whisper White.  Add some ink from the Balmy Blue ink pad to a block.  Using the Aqua Painter, add some blue for the sky to the top of the oval.  Do the same with Lemon Lime Twist for the bottom.  Let this dry.  Add grass in Garden Green.  The grass is in the Fable Friends stamp set.  Adhere the oval to the card front with snail.

Stamp the bunny in Tuxedo Memento Black ink.  Color with Blends.  I used the Light Petal Pink, Light and Dark Smoky Slate, and the Light and Dark Highland Heather.  Fussy cut and add to the oval with dimensionals.

The saying is on a 3/4 inch wide strip of Whisper White.  Notch the ends.  The flower is cut from a die in the Seasonal Layers Dies.  Cut from the Gingham Gala paper.  The center is Daffodil Delight cardstock and the 1/8 inch handheld circle punch.  Add with a glue dot.

I ended up making about 40 of these for friends and family, too.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Let me know if I can help you in any way.

This pic actually looks more navy instead of Highland Heather.  Sorry about that!

Picked For You Card for a Friend

Hello to you today!  I've probably mentioned that I'm a retired teacher.  During my years, I saw more apple images than I really want to remember.  I've given away lots of apple stuff.  Still, for some reason, I was drawn to the Picked for You set in the annual catalog.  I already posted a card using this set here.  This is another variation.

Picked for You Granny Apple Green DSP by Jo Anne Hewins

The crispness of the white background makes me think of the crispness of the apple.

The card base is Granny Apple Green cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Garden Green layer is  4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  The Whisper White layer is 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  Run this through the Big Shot with the Dot to Dot Embossing Folder.

The 3 x 3 Granny Apple Green square is cut from the Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Adhere to the right of the card.  The tree branch is cut from Soft Suede using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  The leaves are Garden Green and are punched using the Lemon Builder Punch.  I used 5 leaves on the front and 2 inside the card.  I added the leaves with glue dots and dimensionals.

Set the apple stamps on the Stamparatus.  This is a four stamp process.  The card linked above also have a video that shows setting up the Stamparatus for the apple.  You can see the video here.  I used Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Lovely Lipstick and Soft Suede.  This time I did use Watercolor Paper.  Smooth the colors with an Aqua Painter when done and allow to dry before you cut it out.  Add the apple with dimensionals.

Picked for You Granny Apple Green DSP Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying is from the same stamp set.  Stamp in Real Red and cut out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Add a frame of Real Red using the Layering Ovals Framelits.

Picked for You Granny Apple Green DSP Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the inside of the card.  Use the hinge technique and the Stamparatus to stamp the saying down the left of the paper.  Add the leaves.

I hope that you will try this card.  I think it's very pretty.  If you looked at the video and liked it, please subscribe to my Youtube channel.  Feel free to share it with your friends.  Thanks in advance.  If you need a demonstrator, I would love to earn your business!  Let me know how I can help.  I do have an incentive program.  Click up at the top of my blog!
