Joy Fold Card with the Animal Expedition Suite

I recently had a class using different folds.  It was very popular!  I've been putting the cards on my blog the last few days and adding a video to show how to make each one.  I'll link you to the other cards at the end of my post.  For today, I'm using the Animal Expedition Suite.  This can be found in the Annual Catalog on pages 26-27.

The Joy Fold is actually 2 cards with a smaller one placed inside the larger one.

Start with a base of Berry Burst that measures 4 1/4 x 8 1/2.  That's shorter than the regular base.  Score this at 3 on the long side.  The inside base is covered with the Animal Expeditions Designer Series Paper.  It measures 4 x 5 1/4.  That is the standard size for the inside of a card.  The outside short section is also covered in the Animal Expeditions paper cut at 2 3/4 x 4.

Now we are ready for the smaller inside card.  Cut a piece of Lemon Lime Twist to 3 x 8 and score it at 4.  Fold.  For this card the fold will end up being on the right side of the card.  For the inside, (Remember this will be opposite the way a normal card opens.)  the Whisper White piece measures 2 3/4 x 3 3/4.  Stamp the Wild About You sentiment from the Animal Outing stamp set in Berry Burst ink.  Fussy cut an alligator from one of the Designer Series Paper sheets and add to the bottom.  Add to the inside of the card.

For the outside of this smaller card, cover in the Animal Expeditions DSP.  The size is 2 3/4 x 3 3/4.  Stamp the rhino and several of the branches on Whisper White.  Use Tuxedo Memento Black ink.  Use Blends to color.  I used the Light and Dark Old Olive, Light Granny Apple Green, Light Crumb Cake, Light and Dark Smoky Slate, Dark Daffodil Delight, and the Color Lifter.  Cut these out using the Animal Friends Thinlits Dies.  Add the rhino with dimensionals and glue the branches.  I did trim the frog off of one of the branches just to make it shorter.

Glue the smaller card to the inside of the base.  Center it to the base and to the front of the card.  Remember that the fold for the smaller card is on the right!

Now we need to make the closure for the card.  Punch a 1 1/8" Scallop Circle from the Call Me Clover cardstock.  Stamp the hello from the Beauty Abounds stamp set in Berry Burst and punch it out with the 1" Circle Punch.  Glue it to the clover scallop circle.  Add a dimensional to the left side of the scallop.  Close the card flap and add the circle so that the  flap can fit under it.

Here is a video that will show you how to make the card.
