NC Demo Blog Hop for March Cute Critters!
March 31, 2019
Welcome to another NC Demo Blog Hop! Our March hop is all about Cute Critters! Stampin' Up! has some great stamps with animals. I'm so happy we are sharing ideas with them! You might have just come from Tracie's blog. What a great project! Be sure to visit all of the blogs and get some great ideas.
I am using the stamp set A Little Wild. This set is on page 85 of the Annual Catalog. It's in with the Kids and Babies section. Don't miss it. A Little Wild is actually a tag set. You can make great tags that have the front and back of the animal. I used it in a different way.
There is a hole in the front of this card. The lion is suspended on fishing wire so that he can twirl. You can see the front and the back of the lion, so you can see why this stamp set is so perfect!
I will have a video at the end of this post to help explaing the process for this card.
Start with a card base of Shaded Spruce that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. Fold at 4 1/4.
I used the Tropical Escape 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper for my card front. Cut it 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. Adhere this paper to the front of the card. Keep in mind that you will be cutting out the center when adding adhesive. You might even just lay down the circle on the card to help with adhesive placement.
Use the Layering Circles Framelits to cut a circle out of the center of the card. Keep the patterned paper to place inside the card later.
Use the same circle to help create a frame around the hole in your card front. Find a larger scallop circle. I run these through the Big Shot at the same time and try to center them. You won't need the inside of the circle. Use Shaded Spruce cardstock.
Using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, stamp the lion on Whisper White cardstock. It will stamp the front and the back. Color both with Blends. I used Light Crumb Cake, Ivory, and Light and Dark Soft Suede. The Little Loves Framelits coordinate with this set. Cut out the lion. Now cut the front from the back in the center. Now place the two back to back and trim so that they match each other. Glue these parts together but first tape down some fishing line down the center between the two pieces.
The leaves are stamped in Shaded Spruce and the flowers are in Blushing Bride. Stamp them on Whisper White. Use the stamp set Tropical Chic stamp set. Cut these out with the Tropical Thinlits. Glue the leaves close to the circle.
You want the lion fishing wire to be mounted well! I used a small piece of Tear & Tape on the paper just on the edge of the circle. Place the line. I even put another little piece of Tear & Tape on top of the line. Trim excess line away. Glue down the frame around the circle to hide the tape. Now add the flowers.
The saying Wild About You is from the stamp set Animal Outing. Just trim around the words with snips.
Add a piece of Whisper White inside the card that is 4 x 5 1/4. Close the card so that you can put down the remaining patterned paper circle exactly where it needs to go. The saying inside is from the Birthday Cheer stamp set. Add another flower stamped directly on the paper.
Here is my video.
Thanks so much for joining us today. I hope you will try this card or something similar. It's a lot of fun. Our next project is by Laurie. You will love what she has to share.
