Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #544 Hey Love
January 17, 2019
Welcome once again to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. Today we have a sketch.
I used the Hey Love stamp set for my card along with the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper. Here is my card.
I love this little otter. My neice Alison loves sea otters and I always think of her when I see them. I think she would love this card. Don't tell her, I just might send it to her!
The card base is Fresh Fig measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.
The next layer is Balmy Blue. I used the Seaside Embossing Folder on this layer to make you think of the otter floating on the ocean.
Let's talk about the patterned papers in the background. The wavy look paper in multiple colors measures 2 x 4 1/2. The Mint Macaron paper is 1 1/4 x 3 3/4. The Fresh Fig strip is 1/2 x 3 3/4. There is a Tranquil Tide strip that is 1/4 inch wide that is just tucked in at each side.
For the circle, first cut the wavy Tranquil Tide paper. In my mind this is sea weed. You just may need to stretch your imagination. I used the swirly die from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. I hadn't used these in a while. It's a little sad that we tend to forget the old stuff when the new comes in. Glue this down to a piece of the Balmy Blue designer paper. Cut using the second largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Cut a scallop circle using the Layering Circles Framelits. This is also from the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper. All the patterned papers on this card are from that pack. Glue the big circles to the card.
Stamp the otter in Memento Black ink on Whisper White card stock. Color the otter in Light and Dark Crumb Cake and just a little of the Light Soft Suede Blends. I tried to use the Color Lifter a little on the stomach and face. Color the heart with a Fresh Fig Stampin' Write marker, cut it out, and place in the otter's hands. Cut out the otter and add him to the card with dimensionals.
For the saying, stamp on white scraps in Fresh Fig. Cut around the words and add them to the banner.
Here is the inside of the card. I used the same blend colors except I added some of the Light Balmy Blue Blend around the otter.
What a cute valentine this card turned out to be! I'm really loving the Hey Love stamp set. You can find a few other samples here and here and here.
