Flourish Phrases and Your Ink Refills!

Hello!  Today I have a card using the Flourishing Phrases stamp set found on page 18 of the Annual Catalog.  This set has been around for several years.  It has the matching Flourish Thinlits Dies on page 217.  We won't be using those for this card.  I wanted to use a technique for my classes last week and decided to try the Smooching Technique.  It's a lot of fun, but can be a little messy.  I love messy!  Here's the card!

Now for the class, we all did the coloring part first so that it could dry.  Of course you can use the Heat Tool, but I like it best when you let it dry naturally.  It does make a little difference because the air can move the ink around.

For the color layer, use a piece of Glossy White cardstock that measures 2 3/4 x 4.  Make sure that your surface is protected.  I said it could get messy!  Use a piece of wax paper that is doubled over for the work surface over the other protection you have in place.  For my card I used Balmy Blue and Call Me Clover.  Put 3 or 4 drops of each color on the wax paper.  The space you use should be a little smaller than your actual paper.  Now spritz this with water.  Put the glossy side down on the ink and smooch it around.  The ink will start to come out from the edges a little.  Just be careful.  Smash over the entire surface of the back of the glossy paper.  Now pull this paper up and turn it over.  Take a paper towel and dab up the extra moisture over the edges and even the top of the paper.  Let this dry completely.

Once this is dry, stamp the large flourish on the paper.  Set this up on the Stamparatus.  You will definitely want to be able to stamp this more than once to get a dark solid image.  I used Black StazOn.

The card base is Thick Whisper White cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score and fold at 4 1/4.

The Basic Black layer is 3 1/8 x 4 3/8.  The Call Me Clover layer is 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.  Add the finished layers to the card with dimensionals.

The saying is from Flourishing Phrases.  Stamp in StazOn on white.  Cut this out with the Layering Ovals Framelits and also one a little larger in Basic Black.  Glue to the card.
