Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #541 Butterfly Gala
December 27, 2018
Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. This week we are using Gorgeous Grape, Blueberry Bushel, and Balmy Blue.
For some reason, I struggled with this color combo, but I think I came up with a pretty good card. I'm so excited about the new Occasions catalog that begins January 3rd. Right along with it comes the Sale-a-Bration celebration! You'll be able to earn free product. First, here's the card.
Stampin' Up! is known for its coordination of products, but they have outdone themselves this time! First of all, let me just say the Sale-a-Bration patterned paper is FANTASTIC! If you are a lover of butterflies you are in luck! If you love the look of black and white, you are in luck with the flip side of the paper. Here's a quick look at the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper. The best part is that you can get this paper for FREE with a $50 purchase during the Sale-a-Bration promotion!
I'll tell you more as we go!
The card base is Gorgeous Grape 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4. The next layer is Balmy Blue measuring 3 3/4 x 5.
The black and white butterfly paper from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8. Now the fun begins! The butterfly solid images from the Butterfly Gala stamp set, page 35 in the Occasions catalog, fit perfectly on this patterned paper! You will want to stamp this before you adhere the paper to the card. Use Gorgeous Grape, stamped off, Blueberry Bushel, stamped off, and Balmy Blue, NOT stamped off. Stamp the top part of the butterfly and the bottom parts randomly until all is covered. Don't forget the little edge pieces! You'll also need to stamp an extra butterfly from left over paper.
Run a length of the Balmy Blue organdy ribbon from the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack. It's also a free item you can select with a $50 purchase. While you have the ribbon, make a small bow. We'll add it later.
So let's talk about the sentiment piece for this card. The stitching comes from a die from the Needlepoint Elements Framelits Dies, 39. The saying is from Butterfly Gala. Stamp the saying in Blueberry Bushel on Whisper White. Now center the die and run it through the Big Shot to get the stitching. Now simply punch it out with the Pretty Label Punch that's in the Annual Catalog. More coordination! I also stamped some antenna on the corner of the label. Add the label with dimensionals.
Now, the extra butterfly that you stamped can be punched out with the new Butterfly Duet Punch! Yes! That punch coordinates with the Botanical Butterfly paper, too! Wow! Add a glue dot near the head and a mini dimensional at the other end. Fold up the wings and add to the card.
Add the bow with a glue dot.
Here's the inside of my card. I have a little bit of patterned paper just sitting there so I decided to use it. It measures 3 5/8 x 2 1/4. Stamp it just as for the front and add. The saying is from Butterfly Gala stamped in Blueberry Bushel.
I love this card so much that we are going to make it at a class near the end of January!
