Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #537 Dashing Deer

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #537.  This week we are using the colors Tranquil Tide, Gray Granite, and Copper Foil.

I'm using the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper  for my project.  Unfortunately, this paper is no longer available.  It does have the copper foil right in the paper!  I'm sorry it was only with us a short while.  Here is the card I made.

CCMC #537 Dashing Deer by Jo Anne Hewins

I tried the cracked glass technique after watching a video from Kelly Acheson.  I'll get to it in a minute.

Start with a card base of Tranquil Tide measuring 5 1/5 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The Copper Foil layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  Now I'm going to tell you that I cut some stuff out of the middle of the foil that I might use on another card.  We can't let foil go to waste, can we.

Mount a piece of the deer paper from Joyous Noel cut at 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

The Whisper White rectangle is 2 1/4 x 3 1/2.  Using the Stamparatus, stamp the deer in the center of the paper in Tranquil Tide.  I used the Stamparatus in case I needed to stamp it again to get a good dark image.

Here are the steps for the cracked glass:

Ink up the entire rectangle piece in Versamark.  Now sprinkle with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat.

Let it cool a minute and repeat the last step.  Repeat until you have about 6 layers.

Put the rectangle in the freezer for a few minutes.  Take it out and immediately bend it in several directions to get the cracks.

If you need more cracks, return to the freezer and repeat.  I did do it a second time.

Rub over the surface with a sponge dauber and Gray Granite ink.

Add a Copper Trim bow with a glue dot.  I added some stars to the white area.  These were punched from copper scraps using the Twinkle Builder Punch.

Add this layer with dimensionals.

The saying is from the Peaceful Noel set.  Stamp in Versamark, add Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder, and heat.  Cut it out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits .  Add snail where this covers the rectangle and dimensionals on the bottom and right side.

CCMC #537 Dashing Deer inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside, stamp in Tranquil Tide.  The stamp is from the Making Christmas Bright stamp set.  Add a few more of the copper stars.

The cracked glass technique is a lot of fun.

Thanks for spending time with me today.

A Sneak Peek with Humming Along

We had all attendee give aways of the Humming Along set and the Gingham Gala 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Why not pair the two?  We had a Luv 2 Create Team meeting this past Saturday.  I needed two birthday cards for two team members, Lori and Cindy, celebrating early birthdays.  I decided they would like nothing better than to have cards with brand new product.  Here is the card I made.  I'm just going to say it.  I love this card!!!

Humming Along and Gala Gingham by Jo Anne Hewins

I know there is snow and ice in many places, but this card screams spring!  I think maybe it gives us hope that something good is always ahead.

Start with a card base of Highland Heather measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  This is actually just half of a piece of card stock.

We want to make that Gingham Gala 6 x 6 last as long as it can.  Cut along the bottom of the paper at 1/2 inch.  Keep this part to use on another card.  Now turn the paper and cut at 3 inches.  This will give you 2 pieces that are 3 x 5 1/2.  I used this to make the two cards.

I haven't used the Decorative Ribbon Border punch in a long time.  Use a Gold Foil Sheet cut at 1/2 inch to punch the border.  I needed two of the 1/2 inch pieces to get each side.    If you look carefully the designs match on each side of the gingham.  That's just a little touch that  can make a big difference.  This gold border is perfect on each side.  Just run snail along the DSP side and add the foil border.

Isn't this flower pretty!  To match the border, emboss the flower in Gold Emboss Powder.  Rub the Embossing Buddy over the Whisper White card stock.  Simply stamp with Versamark, add the powder, and melt with the Heat Tool.

Humming Along Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

I colored in the flower with the Light and Dark Highland Heather Blends and the Light and Dark Granny Apple Green Blends.  Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Blends for the center.  Add a little Wink of Stella to the flower to add a little sparkle.  There is a framelit set that goes with this stamp set, but I don't have it yet.  I love to fussy cut, so I didn't really care.  Add the flower with dimensionals.

The saying is from the Humming Along stamp set stamped in Highland Heather.  Cut this out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  What's more perfect than adding some of the Gold Metallic Thread?  Add dimensionals to the back of the label.  Wrap the thread around 4 fingers about 6 times.  Add to the back using the dimensionals to stick the thread.  Adjust a little if needed.

Humming Along inside with Amazing Life

For the inside, I used another set that everyone got in Orlando.  It's called Amazing Life.  Color in the little flower with the same blends as above.

Humming Along Pair for Lori and Cindy

I find that it's often just as easy to make 2 cards at a time.  It will save you time in the long run.

Now I'm just hoping that you can wait until January 3rd to get these supplies.  If you are a demonstrator, you can get them on Decmeber 5th.  Maybe you should join the Luv 2 Create Team!  Let me know if you have questions!

Highlight Film from the 30th OnStage for Stampin' Up! in Orlando

I was in Orlando most of the week last week.  I had worked ahead and gotten all of my blog posts written up  until yesterday.  I knew I could write up a little review of our trip for today.  Nature got in the way.  Here in North Carolina we've had quite a bit of rain the past few days.  Around 9:30 yesterday morning a tree broke apart up the street from me and took down some power lines and blew a transformer.  No power for the rest of the day.  We did get power back last night around 9:00, but I couldn't get the internet to work.  I finally decided to face the fact that I would not have a post for today.  I really do pride myself on being consistent.

So here it is almost 3:00 in the morning and I'm up and all is running smoothly, almost.  I'm giving in.  Today I will have the highlight video of OnStage put out by Stampin' Up!  It's really neat.  It begins 15 years ago with Shelly, the founder of Stampin' Up! talking about the first 15 years and her dreams for the next 15.  Those dreams have come true with Stampin' Up! a global market.  Wow!  Look for the yellow shirts.  That's my little group of 5 Luv 2 Create team in Orlando.  We made the cut!

Monday's post will have my review of our days in Orlando.  Thanks for understanding.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #536 Frist Frost

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #536.  This week we have a sketch.

This card just came together so easily for me.  I love it when that happens. I'm using the First Frost Bundle.

CCMC#536 First Frost by Jo Anne Hewins
The base is Thick Whisper White cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4 and fold.

Cut a piece of Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4.  Run this through the Big Shot with the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder.

The patterned paper is from the Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Cut this to 2 x 3 1/4 and add to the card.

Using the Frosted Bouquet Thinlits, cut three of the branches in Old Olive.  One will go inside.  For the flowers, you'll need 6 of the smaller flowers and 3 of the larger.  Some will go inside.  The flowers are stamped in Rich Razzleberry.  Add to the card.  The larger flower is on dimensionals.

CCMC #536 First Frost close up by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying is from the Varied Vases stamp set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry.  Stamp the Hello over and over.  Attach with dimensionals. Use the snail where it covers the flowers already on dimensionals.

Inside add the left over branch and flowers.  The saying is from Varied Vases.

I think this is a really cute card.  I love doing a sketch challenge!
