A Dashing Deer Christmas Card

Hello!  So today is the last day of November.  Can you believe it?  I have a Christmas card for you.

Dashing Deer card by Jo Anne Hewins

I just love the Dashing Deer Bundle.  I'm pretty sure that this one will carry over until next year!  That deer is simply beautiful!

Start with a card base of Shaded Spruce.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4.

Cut another piece of Shaded Spruce that is 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Run this through the Big Shot with the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.  Attach to the front of the card.

The Real Red rectangle measures 2 1/2 x 3 3/4.  The Whisper White one is 2 3/8 x 3 5/8.

I used the Stamparatus to stamp the deer.  I wanted to be sure to have a good dark solid image.  Stamp in Early Espresso and cut out with the Detailed Deer Thinlits.

Turn the deer over and add dimensionals.  I did use the Mini Dimensionals.  Wrap the Gold Metallic Thread around 4 fingers about 6 times and slip off.  Add to the dimensionals on the back of the deer.  Rearrange a little if needed and then add to the card.

Add Red Rhinestones to the nose and neck of the deer.

The saying is from the Making Christmas Bright stamp set.  Stamp with Real Red on a thin slice of Whisper White and notch the ends.  Add across the deer.

I also used the Stamparatus to stamp the inside of the card.  It helps to avoid those edges you might get when stamping, and the deer are dark and solid.  The Stamparatus is just a blessing.

This makes a lovely card, I think.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #538 Spirited Snowmen

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #538.  This week we have a sketch for you.

I used the Spirited Snowmen stamp set for this challenge.  Here is my card.

CCMC #538 Spirited Snowmen by Jo Anne Hewins

Don't you just love those snowmen in the stamp set!  I do!

Start with a card base of Tranquil Tide 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

I've used several different kinds of designer paper for this card.  The largest piece is from the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This paper is no longer available.  It measures 3 1/4 x 5.  The Crumb Cake stripe is from the Neutrals 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  It is cut at 3/4 x 3 1/2.  The dotted paper is from the 2017-2019 In Color 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and measures 3/4 x 4.  I've said this before, but it is so helpful to use our Grid Paper to help adhere these small strips straight.

For the focal point, stamp the snowman in Memento Black on Whisper White.  Add some Crumb Cake snowflakes around the snowman.  I used the Tranquil Tide marker and the Light Crumb Cake Blend to color in the snowman.  I also added a little Crumb Cake under him to make a little ground or shadow.  Use the Layering Circles to cut out the snowman and to make the scallop Tranquil Tide frame for underneath.  Add to the card with dimentionals.

The inside of the card is all from the Spirited Snowmen stamp set.  I love that saying!

This is a pretty simple card to make.  I hope you try it.

A Festive Stylish Christmas Card

Hello to you today.  I have a Christmas card using the Stylish Christmas stamp set on page 101 of the Annual Catalog.   Don't overlook this great set new to the catalog this year.  It's one of those Distinktive sets with lots of details.  That's a Stampin' Up! trademark.

Stylish Christmas for Whisk & Barrel by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Thick Very Vanilla.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score at 4 1/4 and fold.

The patterned papers used on this card are from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper.  The words piece is cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  Make sure when you cut that you have the words going in the right direction.  The plaid piece is 3 x 4 1/4.  Glue it on a little askew.  The next piece is Crumb Cake card stock.  Cut it at 2 x 4 1/4 and then run it through the Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Glue this piece straight on the card.  Using the Grid Paper always helps me with this.

Stamp two of the leaves in Mossy Meadow and the poinsettia in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla card stock.  Fussy cut these.  You can do it!  Add these to the card with dimensionals..  Add some Red Rhinestones to the center of the flower.

Stamp the word PEACE in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla paper.  Punch out with the 1 inch circle punch.  Glue to the card.

Add a bow of Linen Thread to the card.

For the inside of the card, stamp the saying in Cherry Cobbler and a few more leaves in Mossy Meadow.  All is from the Stylish Christmas stamp set.

NC Demo Blog Hop for November It's All About Poinsettias

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for November!  This month we are all about the coming holidays!  You may have come from Toni's blog.  She is so talented.  I know you got some great ideas!  If you are just starting on the hop, be sure to visit every site.  You'll be glad you did!

Join us blog

I've been using the bundle of the Rooted in Nature stamp set and the Nature's Roots Framelits to make poinsettias.  It's an idea I saw on Pinterest and just had to try.  Today I have a card and a frame to show you.

NC Demo Poinsettia Duo by Jo Anne Hewins

I love how these turned out.  Let's start with the card.

The card base is Merry Merlot 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The patterned paper is from the Neutrals pack of the 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper cut to 4 x 5 1/4.

For the poinsettia, you'll need 6 of the small leaves from Rooted in Nature and 6 of the large leaves.  I stamped these in Merry Merlot ink on Whisper White and then painted inside the leaf with my Wink of Stella.  You'll want to go ahead and paint as soon as you stamp while the ink is still a little damp.  Then the color will spread over the leaf.  It does not spread a lot and still shows the veins in the petals.  You will need to do the same with 3 small leaves in Garden Green.

Use the Big Shot and the Nature's Roots Framelits to cut out the leaves.  While you are cutting, cut out some of the thin little sprigs from the Frosted Bouquet Thinlits.  I think I cut out about 7 of them.  I did trim some of them into a couple pieces.

Take your Bone Folder and curl each petal and leaf.

Now you are ready to assemble the flower.  Determine where you want the flower to go.  I put a glue dot on the stem end of each large petal.  Place the glue dot end at the center of the flower.  Now place the next petal directly opposite the first.  I just put the dots on top of each other.  Now fill in two petals between on each side.  Now add a glue dot to the other end of each petal and attach to the card so that you have the lift in the leaf.  Now this is not a card that you can mail and expect it to look good.  Hand deliver!  Add glue dots to the stem end of the small leaves.  You want most of these petals to point between the large leaves.  Add one to the center right on top of the other layer.  Add the next one opposite to the first.  Now fill in with the other two leaves on each side.  I decided they would look more real if I didn't put any adhesive on the other end.  I kind of played with the petals to make them stand up a little here and there.

Add the gold pearls from the Metallic Pearls found on page 197 of the Annual Catalog.  I used a lot!  Just keep adding until you like it!

NC Demo Poinsettia close up side view by Jo Anne Hewins

For the Garden Green leaves, add a glue dot to the stem end.  Use the Take Your Pick Tool to push that glue dot end up under and between two of the large petals and attach.  Put a glue dot on the other end of the leaf and attach.  Do that for all three leaves.

I decided that the poinsettia needed a little more gold and added some of the Gold Metallic Thread.  I added to the three areas that did not have leaves.  Just roll a little of the thread around maybe three fingers.  Push off and add a glue dot to one area.  Use the Take You Pick Tool to push that under the petals and attach.

Do the same with the Garden Green sprigs.  Glue dot on one end and stick them under the petals and attach.

For the saying, stamp Merry Christmas from the Timeless Tidings stamp set in Merry Merlot.  Fussy Cut.  Add to an oval of Merry Merlot cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Add the Gold Metallic Thread to the back and attach to the card with dimensionals.

NC Demo Poinsettia Card by Jo Anne Hewins

The frame is a 6 x 6 shadowbox from  Michaels.  Cut a piece of sturdy card board to 6 x 6.  I used the backing from a pack of specialty designer series paper.  The background is a Merry Merlot piece from the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I'm sorry to say it is no longer available.  Find the center of the backing.  Start making your poinsettia there in the center just as above.  Do NOT attach the outer petals with glue dots.

For this flower you will add another layer of the large petals.  You will need 6 small petals and 12 of the large.  For the second layer of large petals, put a glue dot on the stem end.  Add these in between the other large petals.  You'll be able to lift them up a little.  Just add them to the backing out a little from the original row.  Add the leaves as above.

For the frame, make the sprigs from Frosted Bouquet in Garden Green and in Gold Foil.  Trim if needed.

Now attach some of the petal ends with glue dots.  You can actually swivel the petals a little to get the perfect placement.

NC Demo Poinsettia Frame by Jo Anne Hewins

Now I also made the poinsettia in silver embossed in an earlier post.  You can see that here.

This is really long.  I apologize.  I hope that this video will help explain how to make the frame.

Thanks so much for joining the blog hop.  Next up is Tracie.  I know you can't wait to see her project!

Sneak Peek with Incredible Like You

Today I have another sneak peek using the stamp set Incredible Like You.  It was a give-away at OnStage in Orlando.  I just couldn't wait to use this set.  The Occasions catalog goes live on January 3rd.  Here is the card I made.

Incredible Like You by Jo Anne Hewins

I love the crisp whiteness of this card.  Start with a card base of Thick Whisper White.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score at 4 1/4 and fold.  Use that Bone Folder to get a good fold.

Mount the "so glad we are friends" saying to the Stamparatus to do a little hinge stamping.  I centered the saying.  The others run off the page.  Stamp this in Highland Heather.

Above the sayings stamp the lines stamp also in Highland Heather.  This stamp does not go all the way across the page.  I had the two stamps meet under where I was going to put the circle.  You could just stamp from each end.  Using your grid paper is always helpful to me when trying to go straight across a paper.

Stamp the "I just adore you" on Whisper White in Gorgeous Grape.  Cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Have you noticed that I use these framelits a lot?  I just love them.  Here's a little tidbit.  There just might be some rectangle stitched dies in the Occasions catalog.

Stamp some of the leaves peeking out from where the circle would be.  You can take a little smaller circle framelit and draw out a circle to help you.  It will be covered up later.  This is a two step leaf.  The stalk is in Granny Apple Green and the other part is Soft Sea Foam.

Add the circle with dimensionals.  Stamp the three dots in a few places on the card and circle.

Stamp three flowers on Whisper White.  This is a two stamp process.  Stamp the more detailed stamp in Gorgeous Grape and then stamp the more solid stamp in Highland Heather.  I think it will be easier to line up that way.

Stamp about four of the leaf stalks with the two stamp process.

Fussy cut all of these.  I do love to fussy cut!  Add the leaves and flowers where you think they look good.  I used a combination of snail, glue, and dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, the saying is stamped in Gorgeous Grape.  Add a couple flowers in the lower right corner and a leaf stalk underneath.
