NC Demo Blog Hop Inside out Outside the Box

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop.  You might have just come from Tamra's blog.  She always has such wonderful ideas!  This month we are using something that comes in a box.

I decided to use the September Paper Pumpkin.  It's called Frights & Delights.  It's a great kit!  Here's the video from Stampin' Up! for this kit.

These are the treats made pretty closely to the directions provided.

This kit makes 24 treats!  Wow!

Of course, it's always fun to make a few different things with a kit.  So I have two cards that I made from the Frights & Delights kit.

NC Deom Blog Hop pumpkin alternative card by Jo Anne Hewins

For these cards, I used the Note Cards & Envelopes.  They are on page 193 of the annual catalog.  These cards measure 3 1/2 x 5.

First I used my Stamparatus to stamp the Spooky down the left side of the card in Pumpkin Pie ink.  It's called hinge stamping.  Add some of the bats and spiders randomly in Gray Granite.  I also used the eeeek sticker.  Just pull off and stick.  The ribbon is the Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon.  It's beautiful.  Don't think it's just for Halloween.  This ribbon can also look elegant.  It does have some sparkle!  Tie the ribbon around the card and knot in the center.  Add the pumpkin and bat from the kit.

For this card, I used the kit stamp set for the background.  I placed the stamps on one block.

I stamped off the Gray Granite.  Stagger the stamping and fill in above and below where needed.

The patterned paper is from the Regals 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and is Pumpkin Pie.  It measures 3/4 x 5.  The bird is from the stamp set Trick or Tweet.  Stamp him in Gray Granite on Whisper White.  Use the Daffodil Delight marker and the Pumpkin Pie marker to color in the bird.  Punch with the 1 1/2" circle punch.  Use the Layering Circles Framelits to make a scallop frame from Pumpkin Pie card stock.  Add with dimensionals.

The saying is from Trick or Tweet.  Stamp on a 1/2 inch white scrap.  Notch the ends and add with dimensionals.

I hope these cards will help you look at the kit in a whole new way.  I highly recommend a subscription to Paper Pumpkin.  You can subscribe in my online store here.

is next.  I wonder which thing in a box she will chose!  You'll have to go find out.  Thanks for joining me today!

Dashing Deer Nugget Treat Holder

Christmas will be here before you know it.  Treats will be needed.  After all, you want to do a little something for your friends, teachers, day care, church people, and the list goes on and on.  Everyone loves Hershey's Nuggets.  Here's the treat.

Dashing Deer nugget treat holder by Jo Anne Hewins

These are pretty easy to make!  You will need the 2 x 8 Cellophane Bags.  They are on page 193 of the annual catalog.  It's only $3.50 for 50 of them.  I used the FREE Dashing Along Designer Series Paper to cover the nuggets.  This is free through the end of September with a $250 order.  Cut the strips to 1 x 3.  I just run the adhesive runner down the length of the paper and attach to the candy.  I lay the center of the paper over the top of the candy (flat part is the bottom) and then wrap the ends around.  For my treat holder, I had 5 nuggets.  You could probably get more in there.  I was making a lot of them and that's the amount that worked out.  Fold over the bag and staple shut.

Dashing Deer Treat Topper by Jo Anne Hewins

This is the topper.  You'll need a piece of Whisper White paper cut at 3 x 8.  Fold it in half to 3 x 4.  Using the Layering Ovals Framelits, cut this out.  Be sure to extend the framelit over the fold so that you are only cutting out one piece.

This is how it should look.  I ran this through the Big Shot with the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.

I used the Dashing Deer Bundle to decorate the front.  Stamp the largest deer in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White.  Cut it out with the Detailed Deer Thinlits Dies.  Glue this on.  The saying is from the Dashing Deer stamp set.  Stamp in Garden Green on a 1/2 inch strip.  Notch the end.  Add a bow using the Cobbler from the Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine.  Finish with pearls around the neck.

The topper has a dimensional on each end.  Use that to attach it to the treat.

This is Cindy's treat!  I think they are really cute.

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  Today we are using Blueberry Bushel, Gray Granite, and Highland Heather.

CCMC529

I decided to use the Trick or Tweet stamp set from the Holiday Catalog.

CCMC #529 Trick or Tweet card by Jo Anne Hewins

I love that elephant!  Start with a card base of Highland Heather measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The Gray Granite layer is designer paper from the Best Route Designer Series Paper.  It is cut at 3 1/2 x 5.

The next layer is from the Subtles 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  It is 3 1/8 x 4 3/8 and is the Highland Heather color.

The horizontal layer is also from the Best Route paper.  It is 3/4 x 3 1/2.

Stamp the elephant on a scrap of Gray Granite paper from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper.  Stamp in Gray Granite ink.  Color in the toe nails with the Blueberry Bushel marker.  It's part of the 2018-2020 In Color Stampin' Write Markers.  Stamp the elephant again on Highland Heather card stock.  Fussy cut the wings and the mask.  Glue these on the gray elelphant.  Fussy cut the elephant.

Cut the Gray Granite check circle from the center of the check layer.  Use the Layering Circles Framelits.  Glue on the elephant.  Cut a scallop circle from Blueberry Bushel for a frame.  Add using dimensionals.

The saying is from the Trick or Tweet stamp set.  Stamp in Gray Granite on the Festive Farmhouse paper.  Cut around it.  Add with dimensionals.

Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper is Wow!

My favorite designer series paper in the Holiday catalog is Festive Farmhouse.  I'm a sucker for plaid!  And Cherry Cobbler!  As I was trying to decide on a seat gift for my Bingo last week, I kept coming back to that paper.  So, each person got 1/4 of a pack of Festive Farmhouse.  I slipped it inot a bag and then needed to decorate.  The bags I used go up about 2/3 of the way on the paper that is cut 6 x 12.  They come from Clearbags, VL86, 6 7/16 x 8 1/4.  You can get them at ClearBags.com.  These bags are perfect for a 6 x 6 share.  Here's my seat gift.

Please pardon the glare.  I started with a Mossy Meadow circle cut using the Layering Circles Framelits.  Run this through the Big Shot with the Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Add this to the bag with dimensionals.  The saying is from the Dashing Deer stamp set.  Stamp on Whisper White with Cherry Cobbler ink.  Punch this out with the 1 1/2 inch circle punch.  Using the In the Woods Framelits Dies, cut the evergreen shapes in Whisper White.  There is a larger tree and also a little smaller tree that cuts out some of the pine boughs.  Starting at the bottom of the tree with cut outs, kind of roll out the bough.  Do this all the way up.  Glue the smaller tree in the center of the larger tree.  Glue the tree to the background circle and the sentiment.  Add a bow make from the Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine to the top of the tree.

After all is said and done, that decoration is just too cute to throw away.  Take it off slowly and use it on a card.  Here's the card I made!

Festive Farmhouse and Winter Woods card by Jo Anne Hewins

This card has a base of Mossy Meadow measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The patterned paper is from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper.  It measures 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  This is larger that normally cut.  I had a piece that was already that wide.  If you are trying to get more cards, then use 4 x 5 1/4.  You'll get more cards from your paper and the look is not that different.

For this card, I changed the sentiment.  This one is from the Timeless Tidings stamp set.  Everything else is the same.  I did add some small snowflakes.  They are cut using the Blizzard Thinlits and Whisper White card stock.  I used the smaller ones.  Be sure to save the others for other projects.

Making Christmas Bright Gable Treat Holder

Last year Stampin' Up! came out with the Silver Gable Treat Box.  It was so cute.  Then, I saw a white gable box on someone's blog.  I was trying to figure out how they did that.  I thought maybe they had put the box together inside out.  After further reading, I discovered the Lustrous White Mini Gable Box on page 193 of the annual catalog.  I had completely missed this!  This box has a little bit of a shine or luster to it.  You get 12 boxes for $8.00!  It is fantastic!

Here is the project that I've made with this box.

Making Christmas Bright Gable Box Treat by Jo Anne Hewins

I've used the Making Christmas Bright bundle with the stamp set and the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch.  So cute!

Leaving the box flat, run it through the Big Shot with the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  This is one of the larger embossing folders.  The gable box fits in there perfectly.  Of course each side of the box will have an innie or an outie design.  Just decide which one you want to decorate.  It doesn't matter.  Use your bone folder to burnish the folds of the box and assemble.  Wait until you have finished decorating before you completely close the box.  It helps to adhere the parts when you can reach inside.

I used the 1/8" Black Cord from page 200 of the annual catalog for the wire for my bulbs.  I used approximately a 4" piece.  Attach this in the corners of the box just above the fold in the front.  I used glue dots.  The snowflake stamp is from the Making Every Day Bright stamp set.  It's a companion stamp set to Making Christmas Bright.  Stamp 5 of these on Whisper White in Balmy Blue ink.  Punch out with the 1/2" circle punch.  Add two to the ends of the cord using dimensionals.  This will hide the ends of the cords.  The rest can be attached at the end whenever you want them.

Making Christmas Bright Gable Box close up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the bulbs on Whisper White in Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point.  I just stamped these side by side on a piece of white scrap.  Punch this out with the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch.

Stamp the ends of the bulbs on Gray Granite in the same color.  Again, just stamp side by side.  This time I used a half inch piece of scrap.  Punch.

Attach the ends of the bulbs to the bulbs with a tiny dot of glue.

Put dimensionals on the back of the bulbs and add to the cord.  I added the middle one first, then the ends, and then the ones in between.

Glue dot the other snowflakes.

The saying is from the Making Christmas Bright set.  Stamp on white in Real Red.  Fussy cut around this and glue to the box.

That's all there is to it!  Add something inside.  I think I'll try the Little Debbie Christmas Trees once they are out.  Do you think they will fit?  What would you put in there?
