Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #524 Stylish Christmas

Thanks for joining another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  Challenge # 524 is a sketch.

CCMC524I chose to use the stamp set Stylish Christmas from the Annual Catalog.   It's new this year.  Here is the card I made.

CCMC #524 by Jo Anne Hewins Stylish Christmas

Start with a card base of Cherry Cobbler measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

Next comes a layer of Tranquil Tide cut at 3 3/4 x 5.  Stamp the swirls from the Stylish Christmas stamp set over this layer.  Stamp in Tranquil Tide and stamp off each time.

Stamp the holly over a piece of 1 1/4 x 5 1/2 strip of Whisper White.  Be sure to turn the stamp in different directions to add interest.  Glue to the card.

I used the Metallic Edge Ribbon in Silver for the card.   Cut enough to fold over and go almost the length of the card.  Add a couple glue dots to hold it down.

Cut a Whisper White circle using the Stitched Shapes Framelits and glue down just off center of the strip.  This will go over the ribbon.

Using scrap Whisper White, stamp the poinsettia in Cherry Cobbler and two sets of leaves in Tranquil Tide.  You'll have to fussy cut these pieces.  Add to the card with dimensionals.

Add some rhinestones to the center of the flower.

Stamp the word PEACE on scrap white in Tranquil Tide and trim around them.  Glue to the card.

The words on the inside of the card is from Stylish Christmas in Tranquil Tide.  Stamp another poinsettia in Cherry Cobbler and leaves in Tranquil Tide.

The Stylish Christmas stamp set is one of the DistINKtive stamp sets that show so much detail.  How do they do that!

So that's it.  This card is pretty simple, but doesn't look it.

I'm so glad you read my post today.  Check out the other samples made from this sketch here.  There's so much talent there.

Happy Birthday, Gramps!

My husband, John, now known as Gramps, had a birthday this past Saturday.  John has been out of town for the week.  He works part time for a close by tour company.  A group of drivers went to Greensboro to drive for the Wyndham Golf Tournament and stayed in a hotel for the week.  He did get to drive for the media!  Because of the driving and tournament, John is always gone on his birthday.  The good thing is that our daughter Jessie, her husband Robby, and their baby Sagan live in Greensboro and it's only 1 1/2 hours away.  We usually work in a family dinner at Ruby Tuesday's for John's birthday for those who can drive in.  It's always a lot of fun.  I'll just say it.  Having our new granddaughter makes it even more exciting to come together.  I drove down early and spent some time with her, and Jessie and Robby.  I really enjoy making special cards for my family.  Here's the card for John's birthday.

Gramps with the Large Letter Framelits by Jo Anne Hewins

Isn't it cute!  I love how it turned out and John loved his card.  He loves being a Gramps!

I used a card  base of Pumpkin Pie, John's favorite color, measuring 4 1/4 x 11.  I chose that size because I already had a piece cut that size.  Fold at 5 1/2.  Cut another piece of Pumpkin Pie 4 1/2 a 5 1/2.  Run this through the Big Shot with the new Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.  Glue to the card front.  I did this to add some interest to the card.

The letters are cut from the new 6 x 6 papers.  I used Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie from the Regals collection.  Bermuda Bay, Mango Melody, and Granny Apple Green are from the Brights collection, and Blueberry Bushel is from the 2018-2020 In Color collection.  I cut a little piece of the designer paper for each letter and glued it to a 2 1/2" wide piece of fun foam.  Then I sent it all through the Big Shot.  Here's a picture of the foam after the letters were cut.  They are in a backwards line!

Gramps piece of fun foam with Large Letters cut out by Jo Anne Hewins

It took some thinking, but I did get all of the letters to fit on my card!!!!!  Once you know where you want them, just glue the letters in place.

I added some balloons using more of the same paper and the Balloon Bouquet punch.  Add the Whisper White Baker's Twine.  I just taped it on the back.  I glued one of the balloons down and added dimensionals for the other two.  Bring the strings down and adhere them with a glue dot.  Tie a bow and add it with a glue dot.  Trim the strings even below the bow.

I had signed the card before I took a picture.  I'll tell you that I put the HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the Perennial Birthday stamp set and three more balloons.

Here's a picture of Gramps with little Sagan.

This is a pic of Gramps, John, our daughter Jessie and Sagan.  Sagan just wanted Gramps to stand up with her.  Was that too much to ask!

Grammie and Sagan

Of course, I must put a picture of Sagan and me!  I'm Grammie!

Healing Hugs in TinTile

I love embossing folders!  They make it so easy to make a big change in a card.  It's amazing how a little texture makes such  a difference.  The new Holiday catalog has three new embossing folders and they are fantastic!  Last week I shared a card using the new Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.  You can see that here.  Today I'm using the new Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I love it!  Here's my card.

Healing Hugs with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder by Jo Anne Hewins

My last post is raving about the Healing Hugs stamp set.  You can see that card here.  I love this set!

For this card start with a base of Thick Very Vanilla cut at 4 1/4 x 11.  Score this at 5 1/2 and fold.  Cut a piece of Very Vanilla 4 x 5 1/4.  Run this card stock through the Big Shot with the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder.  Now there a several things you need to know to use this folder.  First, the new embossing folders have a line on the front near the bottom.  You can use this line to line up the card stock and make sure it is straight.  Second, line the card stock side to side also so that everything just looks even.  Third, since this is one of the thick dynamic folders you will use the base plate, the folder with your card stock, and a clear plate on top for your Big Shot sandwich.

Now take the Versamark pad and tap it lightly over the card stock.  Add Gold Emboss Powder and melt with the Heat Tool.  This will not cover completely, but enough to add interest.  Run a length of the Blackberry Bliss twine from Nature's Twine around this near the bottom and then glue the panel to the card base.

Stamp the flower from Healing Hugs in Blackberry Bliss on Very Vanilla card stock.  Stamp 4 of the leaves in Shaded Spruce.  You'll have to fussy cut the flower and the leaves.  It sounds like a lot, but it's pretty easy cutting.  Add the flower with dimensionals.  Add the leaves with dimensionals also.  Just kind of tuck them under the flower.

Add a bow of the same twine with a glue dot.

The Hello is from Varied Vases.  I use it a lot!  Stamp in Versamark on vanilla and emboss in gold.  Use the Classic Label Punch to punch it out.  Trim on the left and add with dimensionals tucking it under a leaf at the end.

Now, of course, the saying has to be gold embossed!  This one is from Varied Vases.  Stamp the flower in Blackberry Bliss and several of the leaves in Shaded Spruce.

It's really pretty simple but so elegant!

Need supplies to make this card?  The list is below and will link right to my online store!  Easy peasy!  I would appreciate your business.  Let me know if I can send you an Annual catalog and/or the Holiday catalog that goes live September 5th.  If you want the TinTile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, you will have to wait until the 5th unless you are a demonstrator.  A new demonstrator could pick that as part of the Starter Kit.  Ask me how!!!!

Healing Hugs Garden Impressions

I'm so glad you have joined me today!  I have an easy card for you using the Garden Impressions 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and the Healing Hugs stamp set.  I really love this stamp set.  It's part of Stampin' Up!'s new Distinktive stamps that have so much detail to them.  They are so easy to make something that does not look easy!

Healing Hugs with Garden Impressions DSP by Jo Anne Hewins

Start the card with a base of Shaded Spruce cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Fold at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Pacific Point measuring 3 3/4 x 5.  The Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

Using the Stitched Shapes Framelits, cut the largest oval from Whisper White.  Stamp hello at the top in Shaded Spruce.  This stamp is from the Varied Vases stamp set.

The ribbon for this card is brand new in the Holiday catalog.  It's called Braided Linen Trim.  Run a length of the ribbon across the Pacific Point layer and tape on the back.  Make a bow to add in the center after you've added the leaves.  Add with a glue dot.

Stamp the rose.  I added Balmy Blue ink over the stamp and then added some Pacific Point ink to the stamp with a dauber.  It's so pretty!  Fussy cut and add to the oval with dimensionals.

I used four of the leaves.  You must cut these out, too.  Add around the bottom of the flower.  Some are glued and some are added with dimensionals.

For the inside, the saying is from Varied Vases in Shaded Spruce.  I did stamp another flower and cut it out as above.  I used the cut out to help me know where to stamp the leaves.  Glue down the flower.

There are several new products used in my card.  We'll get to that in the directions.

Start with a card base of Cherry Cobbler measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The next layer is also Cherry Cobbler.  It is 4 x 5 1/4.  Run this layer through the Big Shot with the new Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.  I love it!

Cut the largest oval using the Stitched Shapes Framelits out of Very Vanilla card stock.

Stamp the reindeer on another scrap of Very Vanilla.  Use Cherry Cobbler ink.  I did set this up on the Stamparatus.  After you have stamped the reindeer, clean your stamp and ink it with Versamark.  Stamp.  Now use the Clear Embossing Powder on it and heat.  It's so pretty.  Cut with the Detailed Deer Thinlits.

Lay the deer on the oval and determine where it will be.  Stamp the sentiment where it will fit.  This saying is from a new stamp set called Peaceful Noel.  Now add the reindeer with dimensionals.

Did you see the greenery?  It's a PUNCH!  It's called the Sprig Punch.  I punched four of these using Call Me Clover.  Place them in the corners.
