Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #523 Lemon Zest

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  This week we are using Mango Melody, Pineapple Punch, and Shaded Spruce.

I admit it.  I am definitely out of my comfort zone when it comes to oranges and yellows.  I give credit to my sister who said why not use lemons.  We were actually talking about the new Buffalo Check background stamp and what to put on it.  Here's the finished product.  I must say I'm so excited!  It's really cute!

Start with a card base of Thick Whisper White cut at 4 1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.

You'll need a layer of Whisper White measuring 4 x 5 1/4.  Stamp this with the new Buffalo Check background stamp in Shaded Spruce.  I did use the Stamparatus to make sure that I got a good dark image.  I'm thinking this background stamp could turn out to be one of my new favorites!

I stamped my lemons using the Stamparatus.  Since I was just going to make one card, I set up the plate to hold both of the lemon images.  Stamp first with Pineapple Punch.  I ended up stamping mine 2 times to make the image darker.  Now, using a sponge dauber, sponge some of the Mango Melody along a side of the stamp.  I did this several times too until I got it the way I wanted.  Punch out the lemon slice with the 1 3/4 inch circle punch.  Use the Lemon Builder punch for the lemon.

Do the same for the leaves.  I set them up on the Stamparatus.  Use the Shaded Spruce.  I first stamped them off using a scrap paper, stamped them, and then added more shading with a dauber in the same color.  Punch them out with the Lemon Builder punch.

Glue down the lemon slice.  Put the lemon on dimensionals.  Glue down one leaf and put the other on dimensionals.

The Happy Birthday is from the Lemon Zest stamp set.  Stamp in Shaded Spruce and trim around it.  Use dimensionals.

You might be wondering how I got the baker's twine in Shaded Spruce.  Doesn't it look lovely!  Simply color the White Baker's Twine with the new Dark Shaded Spruce Blends pen.  Use the side of the marker and not the tip!  Add the bow with a rolled up glue dot.

Here's the inside of the card.  The saying is from Picture Perfect Birthday.  Make the lemon and leaf as discussed above.
