Hi! And welcome to the North Carolina Demonstator Blog Hop for July.  This month we are having some summer fun!

You might have just come from Tamra's blog.  She always has such great projects!  I'm so glad you are here!

Here in North Carolina we have the best of 2 worlds.  We have the ocean and the mountains.  I have cards for both!

NC Demo Blog Hop Summer Fun by Jo Anne Hewins

I love going to the beach, but the mountains are my happy place.  Let's start with the beach.

NC Demo Blog Hop Summer Fun Beach card by Jo Anne Hewins

You know that the designer series paper sale is going on in July.  It's almost over, so don't miss out.  This card is made with the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper.  Everything uses this paper.

The card base is Thick Whisper White 4 1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.  Cut a piece of the Crumb Cake paper 4 1/4 x 5 and cover the entire front of the card.  Stamp the net in Crumb Cake in several places.

The octopus is stamped on one of the Mint Macaron pieces of designer series paper.  It's from the Sea of Textures stamp set.  I did use the Stamparatus so that I could make it nice and dark.  The octopus, the net, the coral, sand dollar, everything else is cut out using the Under the Sea Framelits.

The sunglasses were stamped on a piece of Balmy Blue DSP in Night of Navy.  The glasses are from the Pocket of Sunshine stamp set.  Use the Pocket Framelits to cut it out.  I wanted it to appear that someone had lost their glasses while swimming.  Ask me how I know that happens!

Place the objects as you would wish them to be and adhere.  The net is wrinkled and then glued.  The octopus is on dimensionals.  Some of the other objects are glued, put on dimensionals, or both.

The saying is made using the Labeler Alphabet and trimmed with snips.

Here's the inside of the card.  All stampin is Sea of Textures.  The sentiment is from the Enjoy Life stamp set.  Colors used are Crumb Cake, Fresh Fig, Mint Macaron, and Night of Navy.

This card also uses designer series paper.  I don't think I can explain how I made this.  It was a lot of trial and error and changes.  Instead I'm going to list the supplies I used.  They are many!

Stamp sets are Colorful Seasons, Lilypad Lake, Beautiful You, and Waterfront.

Framelits and thinlits used are Lakeside Framelits, Layering Ovals Framelits, Nature's Roots Framelits, Seasonal Layers Thinlits, Up & Away Thinlits.

Designer papers used are Share What You Love Specialty, Tranquil Textures, Wood Textures, Tropical Escape, Regals 6 x 6, and the 2018-2020 In Color 6 x 6.

I also used the 1" circle punch, Light Granny Apple Green and Light Soft Suede Blends, and Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede ink pads.

That's a lot! NC Blog Hop Summer Fun inside of mountain card by Jo Anne Hewins

Here's the inside of the card.  Supplies are in the list above.

Hello Animal Outing

I got a card recently that had the word THANKS made using the Large Alphabet Letters Framelits across the front.  It was so cute and became the inspiration for my card today.  Let me say thanks to Karen Curzon for sending me a RAK card.  Here is my card.

Hello Animal Outing card by Jo Anne Hewins

I love this.  We'll be making this card at my August classes!  Begin with a card base of Crumb Cake measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Early Espresso layer is 4 x 5 1/4.  Run this through the Big Shot with the Layered Leaves embossing folder.  I did spritz my paper with some water before running it through the Big Shot.  This makes the embossing just a little deeper.  Allow to dry.

Using the Large Alphabet Framelits to cut out the word HELLO.  I used the animal print from the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper.   Cut the letters again from a piece of brown fun foam.  Glue the patterned letters to the foam ones.

Stamp the giraffe in Memento Black ink.  This is from the Animal Outing stamp set.  I used Blends to color the giraffe:  Light Daffodil Delight, Light and Dark Crumb Cake.  Cut out with the Animal Friends Thinlits.  The alligator is cut directly from  the alligator paper from Animal Expedition.

Punch three leaves using the Leaf Punch.  They are in Call Me Clover.

Lay out the card so you'll know where to put the giraffe and alligator.  Glue these down.  Now glue down each letter.  Add the leaves where you want them as you go.  I glued some of the leaves and added dimensionals to others.

For the inside cut another strip of the patterned paper 1/2 x 4.  Stick another Call Me Clover leaf from underneath.  I wasn't sure about a sentiment so I just left it without.  I love making cards.  I don't really like writing in cards.  That's why I usually fill up the inside.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursay Challenge #520 Pop of Petals

I just got the Pop of Petals bundle and decided to use it for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #520.  This week we have a sketch.

CCMC520

As I started work on this card, it became a Christmas card.  Funny, how some cards seem to take on a life of their own.  So here is the card.

CCMC#520 Pop of Petals Christmas by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is Thick Whisper White cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score and fold at 4 1/4.

The banners are from the 2018-2020 In Color 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  The Call Me Clover banner is 1 3/4 x 5 1/2.  The Lovely Lipstick banner is 1 3/4 x 3 3/4.

The large label is from the Stitched Labels Framelits.  It's out of Whisper White.  I really love that label!  The sentiment on the label if from Night in Bethlehem stamped in Call Me Clover.

CCMC#520 Pop of Petals Christmas card close up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the flowers on Lovely Lipstick cardstock using Tuxedo Memento Black ink.  You will need two for each flower.  Stamp again on Pineapple Punch cardstock for the center of the flower.  You will need to fussy cut this with your snips.  Stamp the leaves on Call Me Clover in the same ink.  Punch out the flowers and leaves with the Four-Petal Flower Punch.  Cut the leaves in half.  As you assemble the flowers, put a dimensional between the lipstick layers.

Inside, add another flower.  The sentiment is from Christmas Pines stamped in Call Me Clover.

Little Elephant Inspired by Global Design Project #GPD148

The Global Design Project challenge this week is a CASE of the designer Connie Collins.

I decided to use some of the colors, flowers, and the sketch for my card.  I just got the Little Elephant bundle this week and wanted to use it.  Here is my card.

Little Elephant CASE of Connie Collins by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Rich Razzleberry measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Pear Pizzazz layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  The Mossy Meadow paper is from the Neutrals 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  It is cut at 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

Use the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut a Whisper White circle.  The Layering Circles Framelits were used to make the Pear Pizzazz scalloped circle.  Glue to the card.

Stamp the ground in Mossy Meadow and cut out with snips.  Adhere to the card.

The elephant was stamped in Rich Razzleberry.  Clean the stamp and stamp again in Pear Pizzazz.  Use the Elephant Builder punch to punch out the large elephant in razzleberry and the ear from the green one.  Attach the ear with a dimensional.  Glue down the elephant.  I got the small circle for the elephant's eye when I punched out the green ear.

I know that the Little Elephant stamp set has flowers, but I wanted to use the flowers from the A Little Wild stamp set.  I love the daisies!  Stamp in Tuxedo Memento Black.  Use Stampin' Write Markers to color the flower.  I used Rich Razzleberry, Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow and Crumb Cake.  Use the Little Loves Framelits to cut out the flowers.  Add these flowers with dimensionals.

The bow is made from the 1/8" Sheer Ribbon in Old Olive.  Add with a glue dot.

The words are from the Little Elephant stamp set.  Stamp in Rich Razzleberry on a 1/2" strip of Whisper White.  Notch one end and add another flower to the other end.

Little Elephant card inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The sentiment on the inside is from Little Elephant.  Stamp in Mossy Meadow.  Stamp the elephant in Rich Razzleberry directly on the paper.  Stamp again in Pear Pizzazz.  Punch out the ear and eye with the Elephant Builder punch.  I have a flower left over from the front, so I added it too.  You could stamp that directly on the paper also.

A Little Wild Tropical Chic

Hello to you today!  I'm so glad you are here.  As soon as I saw back in May that the A Little Wild stamp set would carry over to the new catalog, I bought it.  I was a new grandmother and thought I might need it.  Sorry to say, I have not used it until today!  Why?  I just don't know.  It really is cute!  Here is my card for today.

A Little Wild and Tropical Chic by Jo Anne Hewins

So cute!  I started with a card base of Early Espresso 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Soft Suede layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  The Wood Textures Designer Series Paper layer is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  I love that piece of the Wood Textures with this card!

Cut a circle from Whisper White using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

The stamp for the lion actually has the front of the lion and the back.  It's designed to make a little card or tag when cut out and folded.  I used the front of the lion.  Stamp in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I colored the lion with Blends.  I used Light Crumb Cake, Light and Dark Soft Suede, and Dark Poppy Parade.  The flower is part of the A Little Wild stamp set.  I colored the leaves with Dark Granny Apple Green and the center with Dark Pineapple Punch.  Cut out the lion and the flower with the Little Loves Framelits.  You will need to use your snips to complete the cutting at the top of the lion.

The leaves are from the stamp set Tropical Chic.  I stamped them in Granny Apple Green and then added some of the Shaded Spruce to the stamp with a sponge dauber.  With the dark green added, clean your stamp and start over so you don't get the dark ink on your lighter pad.  Cut these out with the Tropical Framelits.

A Little Wild and the Tropical Chic sets close up by Jo Anne Hewins

Add the leaves first.  Then add the lion and the flower using dimensionals.  Glue down the circle.  I did add some dimensionals out at the tips of the leaves to make them stand a little.

The sentiment is from the Animal Outing stamp set.  The A Little Wild stamp set has this saying, but I wanted it to be larger.  Stamp in Shaded Spruce and cut with with snips.  I did stamp this two times.  I cut the Wild and You from the first one and the about from the second.  Add the words with dimensionals.  How does anyone live without dimensionals?

A Little Wild with Tropical Chic inside of card by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside, stamp the saying from Perennial Birthday in Shaded Spruce.  Add a few leaves stamped in Granny Apple Green with Shaded Spruce daubered on them.  I'm not sure daubered is a word, but I used it.  It's probably a crafting term.

A Little Wild paired with Tropical Chic by Jo Anne Hewins

Thanks for stopping by today.  I think this card is so cute.  I hope you like it.  I do love comments.  Let me know!
