Kraft Pillow Box

So, have you noticed the Kraft Pillow Boxes on page 193 of the catalog?  These are fantastic!  There are 10 in a pack for only $5.  They have a little design on them.

Kraft Pillow Box

I used these for a Make & Take activity at my Bingo event recently.  Everyone was talking about how versatile these boxes can be.  There's a use for every holiday and more.  These are the pillow boxes we decorated.

Kraft Pillow Box and Abstract Impressions by Jo Anne Hewins

The cut out is from the Stitched Labels Framelits.  Cut from Whisper White.

The flowers and sentiment are from the Abstract Impressions stamp set.  The flowers are in Grapefruit Grove ink.  Stamp off the larger more solid stamp.  The more detailed stamp is stamped without stamping off.  The  leaves are in Call Me Clover.  They are stamped off too.

The sentiment is stamped in Memento Black ink.

Run the 1/8" Black Cord through the label and around the box.  The holes made by the die are perfect.  Tie the cord in a bow.  I think I used about 18 inches of the cord.  I ran the cord around the short way so that the box can be opened without messing it up.

That's it.  See how quickly these can be made.  Now what could we put inside?  I got this idea from Jeria Coleman recently at a meeting of the NC Demo Facebook Group.  I used individually wrapped Life Savers and decorated them with some of the new colors for Stampin' Up! this year.  I used card stock and the new 6 x 6 designer series paper in coordinating colors.  Punch the paper with the 1 1/8" Scallop Circle punch.  Add with a glue dot.

They are so cute!  Thanks to Jeria and her team for the great idea.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge # 516, Rooted in Nature

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  We are still using samples from the catalog to CASE a card.  Today we are using a card from page 119.

CCMC #516

I decided to use the Rooted in Nature stamp set to make my card.

CCMC #516 by Jo Anne Hewins

I love how this turned out.

The card base is Gray Granite.  It's one of the new Neutrals colors.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4.  The dots are stamped in Versa Mark down the side and out from the focal area.  The dots are found in the Petal Palette stamp set.

Use the Flourish Thinlits to cut the large flourish from Lovely Lipstick.  Glue to the card.  I was not that careful to remove all of the little pieces.

The leaves are from the Rooted in Nature stamp set.  I stamped on Vellum Card Stock in Lovely Lipstick and in Mint Macaron.  Quickly add clear embossing powder and emboss using the Heat Tool.  Cut these out with the Nature's Roots Framelits.

Run some the Whisper White Twine around the card and tape down where the sentiment will cover it.  Make a bow to add later with a glue dot.  I ran the twine around three fingers until I was happy with it and slid it off my fingers.  Take another length of twine.  Wrap this around the middle of the twine several times and then tie off.

The sentiment is stamped on a 1 1/4 x 2 1/4 inch piece of Mint Macaron.  Stamp the flourish from Flourishing Phrases in stamped off Mint Macaron.  Stamp the sentiment from Rooted in Nature in Versa Mark.  Mark sure that the flourish you stamped is dry.  You might even rub the Embossing Buddy over it.  Use White Embossing Powder for this and heat with the Heat Tool  Add the rectangle with dimensionals.

Add the bow.

I added the leaves coming out from behind the sentiment.  Use glue dots.  Be sure to place the dots behind embossing so that it will not show from the front.

For the inside of the card, the sentiment comes from the Petal Palette stamp set stamped in Lovely Lipstick.  Stamp the dots, stamped off 2 times, down the right side of the paper in Gray Granite.  Add leaves stamped in Mint Macaron.

I'm proud of this one.  I think embossing on Vellum is the ticket here.

Healing Hugs and the Delightfully Detailed Memories & More Card Pack

WINNER OF BLOG CANDY FOR 500 BLOG POSTS:  MARCIA ENNS!  CONGRATS!  Thanks to all of you for such kind comments!

I have to say that the Memories & More Card Packs are usually low on my list.  Sometimes, you just need a little nudging.  My upline, Patty Bennett, lets us participate in Prize Patrols.  This month is a tic tac toe.  One of the squares is to make a card using the Memories & More Card Pack.  I actually tried to borrow a card from some of my team, but no luck.  So I ordered them.  Wow!  I really love them!  The possibilities for making easy cards are endless!  Here's my card for today.

Card Made Using the Delightfully Detailed Memories & More Card Pack by Jo Anne Hewins

The pattern on this card had me immediately.  I think it made me think of my younger days.  Doesn't it look like a throwback to you?  You know, I am not an orange person, but I have used so much of this Grapefruit Grove color.    I just don't know what's gotten into me.  Well, I do love this card.

The card base is Grapefruit Grove measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Basic Black layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  The Memories & More card is trimmed to 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  Save the long strip.  I added it to the inside.  Before attaching the layers run a length of Black Satin Ribbon across the center.

Stamp the flower from Healing Hugs on Whisper White using Grapefruit Grove ink.  The leaves are stamped in Call Me Clover.  Use your snips to cut these out.

The Stitched Shapes Framelits were used to cut a black circle just a little bigger than the flower.  Attach this circle with dimensionals.  Glue down the flower and leaves.  I did put a dimensional toward the end of the leaves where they extend outside the circle.

Add two little banners of the Satin Ribbon.

The sentiment is from the Healing Hugs stamp set.  Use the Triple Banner Punch to notch the end.

For the inside of the card simply stamp the flowers and leaves again in the upper center of the card.  Stamp the sentiment in Memento Black over the flower.  See how I added that little left over strip?  Why waste it?

So there you go.  Easy to make!  I will be using more of these cards to make more cards!  Does that make sense?  There are several packs of these cards.  I'll list them in the products below.

Thanks for joining me today.  I do appreciate it!  Would you follow me on Pinterest?  Do it here.

NC Demo Blog Hop for June Something New!

Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for June.  I'm so glad to share some of the new products with you.  You may have just come from Toni's blog.  She is one talented stamper!  Don't you agree.  You might be starting here.  Either way, I'm so glad you are here.

Today I'm going to share a scrapbook page with someone new as well as new products.  Many of you know that I'm a new grandmother.  This page is for little Sagan.  I'll warn you in advance that this post is a little longer than usual.

Little Twinkle scrapbook page by Jo Anne Hewins

I found it hard to get a good picture of this page.  It's really cute in person.  I started with the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper.  All of the papers used are from the same paper pack.  Sagan's room has stars since she has the same name as Carl Sagan.  This paper pack is perfect for her.  It's also in her colors!

I stamped the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star several times in the upper corner with Gray Granite ink.  I then covered the sayings with clear embossing powder and heated.  This made the words a little shiny and made them stand out a bit more.  I also added the star and the love you saying the same way down the center of the background.

The Large Letters Framelits were used to cut out Sagan's name.  I also cut a set from some white fun foam.  Adhere the two and then glue to the background.  The letters are under the first saying and over the middle two sayings.  Make sure that one saying will be under the letters.  Add some of the Twinkle Adhesive-Backed Sequins to the letters.  The bow is made from the Silver and Petal Pink Twine.

The Petal Pink stars and hearts are cut from one of the sheets of designer paper.

Use the Twinkle Builder Punch to make a stencil by punching it out of a piece of scrap cardstock.  Use the Shimmery White Embossing Paste to make the moon and stars in the upper right corner.  I also added just the stars here and there on the scrapbook page.  Here's a hint.  Some of my stars are not very distinct.  Make new stencils once the paste builds up on them.  I put a little of the paste on my Silicone Craft Sheet and used the Palette Knives to spread the paste over the stencil.  Make sure to clean your supplies quickly.  The paste dries fast and is hard to remove once dry.

Lots of the Twinkle Adhesive-Backed Sequins were also added all over the page.

I covered a little notebook to match the scrapbook page using the same papers.

Sweet Baby covered notebook by Jo Anne Hewins

I needed to cut my cardstock at 4 1/2 by 7 for the front and back of the notebook.  Adhere using the Tear & Tape for durability.  Wrap a double piece of the Silver and Petal Pink Twine around the front cover and tie in a bow.

Stamp the Love You saying again in Gray Granite and emboss with clear embossing powder.

Sweet Baby notebook by Jo Anne Hewins

The baby is made with the Sweet Baby stamp set and the Bouncing Baby Framelits.  I found that I needed to cut two of the framelit that makes the blanket.  I wanted the back where the baby lays to be the same color.  I simply cut the back from one of the cut outs and glued it down to the other.  The baby was stamped in Memento Black on Whisper White.  Color with Blends.  I used Ivory, Light Crumb Cake, Light and Dark Old Olive.  You really only need to color the top part since the rest will be covered.  I put the first flap down with glue dots and the second down with dimensionals.  I've added a video to help explain.

I'm new at video.  I do have a YouTube channel.  You can subscribe here.

Add more stars with the Shimmery Embossing Paste and the stencil made with the Twinkle Builder Punch and the Twinkle Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

Now my daugter Jessie can keep some notes about Sagan's day to day life.

Don't they pair nicely together!  I was so excited to see these great baby stamp set bundles.  The Little Twinkle bundle with the stamp set and Twinkle Builder Punch and the Sweet Baby stamp set with the Bouncing Baby framelits can be purchased with a 10% discount as a bundle.  If you have a little one or know someone who does, you will need these.  I know I did!

Now let's move on to Tracie's blog.  I know you'll love the something new she is using! She has such great ideas!  Thanks so much for letting me share my new little piece of heaven!

500 giveaway

Have you seen the new Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper?  Wow!  It is gorgeous.  Here's a picture of it.

Delightfully Detailed Laser-cut Specialty DSP

Here is my card for today using this paper.

Delightfully Detailed Laser-cut DSP and Eclectic Layers Thinlits by Jo Anne Hewins

My card base is Rich Razzleberry cut at 4 1/4 x 11 and folded at 5 1/2.

The laser cut paper is cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I have the old cutter with the arm that Stampin' Up! used to sell.  That's what I used to cut this paper.  If you are using the current cutter,  be careful.  I would make sure that the blade was sharp.  I haven't tried it with the current cutter.

Of course adhering this paper could be a challenge.  I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen in places that are a little heavier.  You could also squirt some glue on your Silicone Craft sheet and use part of a sponge to sponge on the glue.  Be careful not to move the paper around so you don't get glue on the front of the paper.

Add the Lemon Lime Twist ribbon.  This ribbon is retired.  I'm sure you might have ribbon you need to use up, too.  The Lemon Lime looks great with Rich Razzleberry.

Delightfully Detailed Specialty DSP close up of Eclectic Layers flower by Jo Anne Hewins

Use the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut an oval from Whisper White.  Use the Eclectic Layer Thinlits to cut the flower from Rich Razzleberry.  Sponge the top detailed layer with Rich Razzleberry ink.  Cut a leaf from Lemon Lime Twist from the same thinlit set.  Attach the flower with dimensionals.

Add the Lemon Lime Twist Bow with a glue dot.

The love you sentiment is from the Enjoy Life stamp set.  Stamp in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White and fussy cut around the words.  Attach with dimensionals.

Delightfully Detailed inside of card by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, make another flower just as on the outside.  The words here are from the Varied Vases stamp set.  That set has the best words!

Delightfully Detailed Specialty DSP with the Eclectic Layers for Luv 2 Create by Jo Anne Hewins

This paper looks so fancy!  It's just beautiful!  I just have to say that I think you need this!  Hey, I can help you with that!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I sure do appreciate it.  As I said, it's a big day for me!  I'm glad you were a part of it.  Don't forget to leave your comment for a chance at my Blog Candy today!
