Abstract Impressions Swap Card

This past weekend I attended the NC Demo Quarterly hosted by Christina Walker.  What a fun time!  We even had Tanner Smedley from the home office spend all day Saturday with us!  He gave us some insights into the company and let us ask all kinds of questions!  It's so much fun to spend time with people who love what you love.  This weekend focused mostly on business.  Of course though, we had to have swaps.  This is my shoebox swap.  What is that, you ask.  We simply design a card and put everything needed to make it in a box.  You make enough kits for everyone in the group to make it.  Then we all settle down for an evening of card making.  Sheer bliss!  Well, here is my card.

Start with a card base of Melon Mambo 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  With the most detailed of the large flower stamps, stamp over the card front.  You don't really have to worry much about the part that will be covered the the designer paper.

The paper is the Garden Impressions 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Cut a piece that is 2 x 5 1/2 and adhere to the card front.  I use my Grid Paper to make sure that my placement is straight.

Do you end up with lots of scraps that are 1/2 inch wide?  If you are trimming for the inside of a card or a layer for the front, you probably do.  That's what I used for the birthday banner.  I stamped the Birthday Wishes across a strip.  The stamp is from Varied Vases and is stamped in Melon Mambo.  Adhere just under the patterned paper.  Trim the edges to fit.

The focal piece is the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Cut in Whisper White.  From the Abstract Impressions stamp set, stamp both of the stems one on top of the other in Soft Sea Foam.  For these smaller flowers, the larger of the stamps is stamped off.  The smaller, more detailed, stamp is stamped full force.  Run some of the Linen Thread around the bottom three times.  The Linen Thread bow is added with a rolled up glue dot.  Add a third of one of the Pearlized Doilies.  Attach the square with dimensionals.

We don't have to complete the inside of the card, but I just don't think a card is finished without it.  I just added more of the flowers from the front and a sentiment.  The words are from Varied Vases.

Shoebox swaps are supposed to be kind of quick.  This card is, but it still packs a punch, I think.  I wasn't sure about the Abstract Impressions stamp set, but I have used it a lot.  For more cards with this set go here and here.
