Masking Technique Card with Video

Hello.  I made a Facebook Live about the masking technique.  I wanted to post it to my blog.  I do have a Youtube channel under Luv 2 Create with Jo Anne Hewins.  Hopefully I'll be doing more.  It's challenging to me now, but I'm sure it will get easier.  Here is my card.

Masking Technique by Jo Anne Hewins

I had a post for a card like this for the last Color Fusers blog hop.  You can see it here.  I did have a request to make a video.  It took me awhile, but finally it is at the end of the post.

I wanted to use new Stampin' Up! colors, so I changed up the card.

The base of the card is Gray Granite measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.

The next layer is Balmy Blue.  It is cut at 3 7/8 x 5 1/4.

Now we have Gray Granite again measuring 3 3/4 x 5.

The Soft Sea Foam layer is 3 1/8 x 4 3/8.

Finally the Whisper White layer is 3 x 4 1/4.

Inks used were Balmy Blue, Grapefruit Grove, Soft Sea Foam, and Black Memento.

You also need sticky notes, Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain Ribbon, 1" circle punch, sponge daubers

Stamp sets used were Love What You Do, Varied Vases

So here it is.

Let me know what you think of my video.  I do think I'll get better with practice.

Sitting Pretty Bundle is Coming!

I'm so happy that you have joined me today for my blog post.  I've been using some of the new product that will be available from Stampin' Up! with the new annual catalog beginning June 1st.  It's a wonderful catalog.  I know you'll love it.  Today I am using the new bundle calling Sitting Pretty.  Here is my card.

Sitting There Bundle and the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper by Jo Anne Hewins

I was trying to go for something a little more simple.  I tend to go overboard from time to time.  Here is how the card is made.

The base of the card is Thick Whisper White measring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.  Use the Polka Dot Basics embossing folder to make the little circles over the front of the card.

The Rich Razzleberry paper is from the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This pack has 24 12 x 12 sheets in it, 4 of each design.  It's also a little heavier than our usual patterned paper.  The designs are just lovely.

Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper

It's available now as part of the Share What You Love Early Release.  You can see that here.  For my card the paper is cut at 1 1/4 x 4 1/4.  I used the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch to make the border that sticks out at the top and the bottom of the strip of paper.  Cut two of the borders from Rich Razzleberry.  For the top, stick out just the scallops at the top.  For the bottom, stick out the lacy looking part.  I hope that makes sense.

Cut an oval, the second largest, from Whisper White using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.

I suppose I could have stamped directly on the oval, but I didn't.  I stamped the images using Memento Black on scrap white paper.  There are stamps to use to color the leaves and vase, but I choose to use the Blends.  I used the Light and Dark Old Olive and the Light and Dark Rich Razzleberry to color.  For the bird, I did use the stamp available and the new Balmy Blue ink.  Cut these out using the Pretty Park Framelits Dies and glue to the oval.  Add the oval to the card using dimensionals.

The sentiment used here is from the new Itty Bitty Greetings.  It's stamped in Old Olive and punched out with the Classic Label Punch.  I added some of the Rich Razzleberry Velvet Ribbon to the end.

It's a great card in its simplicity.  For the inside the saying comes from the Lilypad Lake stamp set.  Add another vase on the inside.  This one was stamped on scrap also, colored with Blends, and then cut out.  The Blends would bleed through the card.

I know exactly who will get this card!  I'm sure you know someone that could use this card, too!

Garden Impresions Designer Series Paper with Daisy Delight

Have you seen the new 6 x 6 pack of designer paper called Garden Impressions?  Stampin' Up! has done it again!  It is so pretty and will be available on June 1st when the new annual catalog goes live.

Garden Impressions 6" x 6" (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Series Paper

See how pretty it is?  Here's the card I made using one of the sheets.

Garden Impressions DSP with Daisy Delight by Jo Anne Hewins for Luv 2 Create

I love tiny designs so this is probably my favorite piece.  Here are the details for the card.

The card base of Night of Navy measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4.  The Crushed Curry layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  Crushed Curry is not listed as one of the colors in the pack, but it matches this sheet.  I thought is looked a little better than So Saffron.  The Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper is cut at 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

I wrapped the Crushed Curry Solid Baker's Twine around the card 3 times.  It's retiring so I was generous with it.  As I write this post, it is still available on the Last Chance List.  Find it here.  I used my bow maker to make a bow of the twine.  Add it later with a glue dot.

The focal point on the card is the daisy from the Daisy Delight Bundle.  Stamp the daisy 2 times using Crushed Curry ink on So Saffron cardstock.  I used my Aqua Painter and some of the ink from the lid of the Crushed Curry pad to add a little more color toward the inside of the petals.  Punch these out with the Daisy punch.  Use the Bone Folder to curl the petals of the daisies.  I curled one toward the front and one toward the back.  Use a dimensional to join the two with the curled back daisy on top.  For the center of the daisy, stamp it with Sahara Sand on So Saffron paper.  Punch it out with the 1/2" circle punch and add with a dimensional.

Stamp the leaf on Granny Apple Green cardstock with the same color 5 times.  You'll have to fussy cut this.  I attached the leaves after I placed the flower and the bow on the card.  Just put them where you like them.

The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  Stamp in Night of Navy on So Saffron cardstock and trim around it.

For the inside of the card, I used a strip of the Garden Impressions paper that was left over.  It is 1/4 x 5 1/4.  The sentiment is from the Detailed with Love stamp set stamped in Night of Navy.  I gave this card to my friend Kaye for her birthday.  I did stamp a birthday greeting under the patterned paper strip for her.  I thought it looked nice.

So there you have it.  Everything will be available to you after June 1 except for the Crushed Curry Solid Baker's Twine.  I know that you will enjoy the Garden Impressions 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  You'll need to add it to your Shopping List!

Painted Harvest with Lots of New Stuff!

Painted Harvest was the most popular stamp set from the Holiday catalog.  It is being carried over to the new Stampin' Up! annual catalog.  It's a great stamp set.  Today I am using this set along with lots of new product.  Here is my card.

Painted Harvest Handwritten background stamp card by Jo Anne Hewins

The colors for this card are wonderful.  These are all new colors coming to the new catalog.

The card base is Granny Apple Green.  It's bright and crisp just like its namesake.  The base is cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Gorgeous Grape measuring 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  Finally there is a layer of Highland Heather.  It measures 3 3/4 x 5.  These new purples are wonderful.  Stamp the Highland Heather layer with the Handwritten background stamp in the same color.  I love this!

Wrap a layer of the Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the card.  After you make the flower, you'll attach a bow of the same ribbon with a glue dot.

For the flower, stamp the larger flower stamp in Highland Heather on Whisper White paper.  Now stamp the more detailed flower stamp in Gorgeous Grape.  The center of the flower is stamped in Pineapple Punch.  Fussy cut the flower with snips.  The leaves are from the Nature's Roots Framelits.  I used the Granny Apple Green again.  Run the three different leaves through the Big Shot with the embossing framelits.  Then run the paper through again with the leaf outlines that cut.  Use a sponge dauber to color the leaves a little.  Add the leaves so that they would stick out from the flower.  Add the flower.  The leaves and flower are attached with dimensionals.  Stamp the center on Whisper White and cut it out.  Attach with a dimensional.

The hello is from the Varied Vases stamp set.  Use the Classic Label Punch, trim, and add to the lower left.

Here is the inside of the card.  Stamp the flower again as on the front.  The leaves are stamped in Granny Apple Green.  Stamp off the more solid leaf.  The saying is from Varied Vases.

Traditionally, I don't make a lot of bright cards.  I just might have to change that.  I love this card.  We'll be making this card as part of the June class.

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop Sneak Peak

Welcome to the Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  This month we are sharing a sneak peek of products from the upcoming Stampin' Up! 2018-2019 annual catalog.  My name is Jo Anne Hewins and I am from the USA.

Today I'll be sharing a card made using the Abstract Impressions bundle.  Here's my card.

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop Abstract Impressions card by Jo Anne Hewins

My card features two of the new In Colors for 2018-2020.  They are Lovely Lipstick and Call Me Clover.  They just look great together.

My card base is Thick Whisper White measuring 4 1/4 x 11.  Score at 5 1/2 and then fold.  Use your Bone Folder to burnish the fold.

The striped paper is from the 2018-2020 In Color 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper stack.  Cut it 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 so that it fits the front of the card.

Using the Lovely Lipstick card stock, cut out the flowers from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits.  These are the thinlits that coordinate with the Abstract Impressions stamp set.  Crumple the cut out in your fist and then unfold a little.  I actually turned the cut out over on the back so that it would fit in the upper left corner and run down the card.  Adhere the cut out with rolled up glue dots here and there.  Some of the cut out will stick up from the card.

Use the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut a Whisper White oval and the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut a scalloped oval of Call Me Clover.  Stamp the leaves and flowers on the white.  For each there is a stamped off step and a part not stamped off.

Run a length of the Call Me Clover Grosgrain Ribbon around the card and tape it down under where the ovals will be.  Add the ovals with dimensionals.  Add a bow with a glue dot.

The sentiment is from the new Itty Bitty Greetings.
