Two Very Special Women in My Life and a Card: NC Demo Blog Hop
April 29, 2018
I was super excited to see that the theme of our blog hop this month could be special women in our lives! The timing couldn't be better! You see my daughter Jessie just gave birth to a super brand new female in my life, my granddaughter Sagan, just this past Wednesday! It's my first grandchild! Mother and baby are doing great!
Welcome to the April Blog Hop. You might have just come from Toni's blog. I'm sure you saw a great project! I'm going to talk about my card. I promise to have more pictures at the end of this post of baby and mom. You must look at them, too, please! Here is my card.
We got this Animal Outing stamp set at the Atlanta OnStage! I loved it at once. I used gray, pink, and white for my card because those are the colors in the nursery. I looked at images of kangaroos and I think that some might be gray. I always thought of them as brown. Anyway, this one is gray.
The card base is Smoky Slate 4 1/4 x 11 and folded at 5 1/2. The patterned paper is from the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper. It's cut at 4 x 5 1/4.
The kangaroo is stamped in Memento Black ink on Whisper White. I used the Light and Dark Smoky Slate, the Dark Pink Pirouette, and the Color Lifter Blends to color the kangaroo and baby. Use the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut out the kangaroo and a coordinating Powder Pink scalloped oval. Before attaching the ovals with dimensionals, run a length of the Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon around the card. Add a bow with glue dots just to the side.
The words on this card were stamped using the new Make a Difference stamp set. Isn't it a lovely cursive! It's so easy to link the letters. It's recommended to stamp the letters one at a time and that works well.
For the inside of the card, I added the kangaroo again with sentiments from the Animal Outing stamp set.
Thanks for sharing with me one of the most special times of my life.
And now, as promised are a few pictures of this special little girl and her family. She is one of the most beautiful babies ever. You know that I'm not a bit prejudiced!
Sagan Hewins Raeford was born on Wednesday, April 25th at 6:27 pm. She weighed 7 pounds and is 19 1/2 inches long.
Here are my girls, Jessie and Sagan. Even writing this my heart just swells and there are tears of joy. Sagan is truly a miracle. You might be interested in a little background story posted here.
Here is the new little family. I can't wait to watch how their lives together develop. There will be joys, and maybe days that might not be that great. But as a family they will form those lives and work together. I'm expecting greatness.
Does Grammie look a little proud?
And here we are together. Three generations of girl power. Yes, these are 2 very important people in my life!
Thanks so much for joining me in this little adventure. Next up is Tracie. She always has a wonderful project.
If you need supplies, I would love to help you with that. A list will follow the the list of people in our blog hop. I would love to be your demonstrator if you don't already have one. The Animal Outing stamp set and the Make a Difference stamp sets will be available with the new catalog going live on June 1st.
