Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #507 Garden in Bloom
April 26, 2018
Good morning! Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #507. Today we have a color challenge.
We are using Island Indigo, Crumb Cake, and Old Olive. This week I am using stamp sets that will be retiring. Garden in Bloom has been around for a while and a favorite of many. It is sad to see it go away. Here's my card.
Another favorite going away is the Brick Wall Embossing Folder. We have loved it so! My card has a Crumb Cake card base measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4. Emboss the front of the card with the Brick Wall folder. Sponge over this with Crumb Cake ink to make the bricks show up.
The Very Vanilla rectangle is 2 3/4 x 4. Stamp the sentiment in Island Indigo in the center of the rectangle.
Two of the large flowers were stamped on a separate piece of Very Vanilla. Stamp the outline in Island Indigo. Stamp off when stamping the inside of the flowers. The center is Crumb Cake. On the vanilla scrap, stamp 2 sets of the large leaves. Stamp the outline in Old Olive and stamp off for the inside of the leaves. Cut out the flowers and leaves.
Lay these flowers down on the vanilla to see just where you want them. Then stamp another set of leaves directly on the rectangle so that they will appear to come from under the flowers.
Stamp the smaller flowers and leaves using the same technique as above. Stamp directly on the vanilla rectangle.
Adhere the rectangle to the center of the card front. I then added the two large flowers. I used a glue dot for the center of the flower and then the mini dimensionals on the petals of the flowers. Add those extra leaves to the underside of the flowers extending beyond the vanilla piece.
I did add a Linen Thread bow to add a little more interest to the card.
This is the inside of the card. I might have gone a little overboard in adding the flowers. I didn't mean to have so many of the small flowers, but I ended up with a few smudges. Crafters just find a way to fix it if possible. As we say, mistakes are an opportunity to embellish! The words here are from Rose Wonder. It's retiring!
We'll also be saying goodbye to Island Indigo. You have been a wonderful blue for us and you will be missed!
Please check out the other samples made today with the colors Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, and Old Olive. It's a beautiful combination of colors.
