The challenge today is a sketch.
My card is a celebration of birthday. It's one of the best kinds of celebration! Don't you agree? I think 500 weeks is a birthday!
I've seen several cards that are just so pretty using the butterfly from Beautiful Day embossed on vellum. I had to try it. I embossed with Copper Emboss Powder. Color on the back with Blends. I used the dark colors of Old Olive, Pink Pirouette, and Pool Party. You will need to add many layers of color to get the desired effect. Fussy cut the butterfly with snips.
The card base for this card is Old Olive 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.
Have you used the new Springtime Foils Specialty designer series paper from the Sale-a-Bration new choices? I thought I could live without it, but I was wrong! It is just so beautiful that now I actually have several packs! The metallics are exquisite. The dots paper measures 3 1/2 x 4 1/4. To add even a little more interest, I embossed in copper the big swirly stamp from Falling Flowers. I also colored the flowers of a sheet of the same paper pack using the Old Olive and Pink Pirouette light colors. I then cut strips. The one on the left is 3/4 x 4 1/4 and the one on the right is 1/2 x 4 1/4. Adhere all of this to the front of the card. Don't overlap, just butt them next to each other.
Add a piece of the Old Olive paper from the Color Theory 6 x 6 designer series paper stack measuring 1/2 x 3.
Attach the body of the butterfly with glue dots. Place them behind the copper so they do not show. I added a bow made with the Copper Trim. It can also be attached with a glue dot.
Emboss Happy Birthday from Picture Perfect Birthday on a strip of white. Hint: I punched this out with the Classic Label Punch and then trimmed the ends straight.
For the inside of the card, emboss the large swirl from Falling Flowers in copper. Add a strip of the colored foils paper 1/2 inch wide. The saying is embossed in copper also. It's from Picture Perfect Birthday.
I love how this card turned out! This Springtime Foils Specialty paper makes making a gorgeous card easy!
Now you have the opportunity to make your own celebration card using this sketch! Don't forget to go to the Create with Connie and Mary blog.
