Bamboo Party Pandas
January 05, 2018
I am so excited about my card today. It has been rambling around in my head for a week now. I just kept thinking that the Color Theory paint chip looking paper would be perfect to make bamboo. It's from the annual catalog Color Theory 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Stack. Well, let me show you my card!
I love how it turned out! Don't you just love it when an idea actually works! Here's how I made it.
The card base is Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded. I've said it before, but you really must score this thick paper. It folds so much easier and cleaner!
Cut the paint chip paper in 1/4 inch strips. I used 5 on the front and one more inside the card.
The leaves were the best I could find for the bamboo leaves. It's not perfect, but it works. They are from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies. I think I cut about 10 or so from Old Olive card stock. I added them to the back of the strips with glue dots.
Stamp the pandas with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I stamped all three of them. There's also one on the inside. I used the one with the hat. I did use my new Stamperatus for the pandas. It allows you to ink and stamp over and over again to get that solid dark image. I love it! Fussy cut the pandas. I did not use the balloon that one panda is holding. By the way the Party Pandas stamp set is one of the free Sale-a-Bration picks with a $50 purchase. Free is a wonderful word!
I laid out the strips and the pandas and figured out where I wanted them. I then added the leaves where I thought they were needed. Finally I started from the right and glued down as I went left.
I colored the circles on the hat and the heart with the Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker.
The sentiment is also from Party Pandas and is stamped on white scrap in Melon Mambo. Trim closely. The sentiment is added with dimensionals.
Here is the inside of the card. The sentiment here is from the stamp set Picture Perfect Birthday in the Occasions catalog.
I hope you will try this card. I had a lot of fun making it. I know these pandas are going to be very popular. Remember they can be yours free with a $50 purchase!
