Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #476 Christmas

The Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge is a sketch this week.

When I saw this sketch, my mind went immediately to the new Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape. It's perfect for the slanted stripes! Are you ready for a little shimmer and shine?

The card starts with the Thick Whisper White card stack cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.

The next layer is 4 x 5 1/4 in the Gold Foil. Now it is really hard to waste this foil behind another layer. I cut out the center to use another time.

The Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper is used for the next layer cut at 3 3/4 x 5. Add 3 rows of the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi tape at a diagonal to this base.

The sentiment in the lower right corner is from the stamp set Christmas Pines. Use the Embossing Buddy in the area, stamp with Versamark, and then heat emboss with Silver Embossing Powder.

Add a gold Foil Snowflake. The center has more of the same background paper cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.

The snowflakes, one in Gold Foil and one in Silver Foil, are cut using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

The inside of the card has more of the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape again diagonally across the paper. The sentiment is from Christmas Pines.

So, here is a little bit of a fancy card without a lot of bother. The Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper is just fantastic especially if you like a little sparkle in your life. I'm not so much of a sparkle person, but I do love this card. If you don't have those Foil Snowflakes, you must get them right away!

I Can't Get Enough of Painted Harvest

Painted Harvest just might be the ultimate perfect stamp set! Well, maybe I'm going a bit too far with that statement, but it's close! I knew that my people coming to class would love it, too. I had to include a card using this fantastic set. Here it is.

The ladies were impressed that the card looks difficult, but it comes together easily. They like that!

The card base is in Night of Navy measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4. The Marina Mist layer measures 4 x 5 1/4 and the Whisper White layer is cut at 3 3/4 x 5.

The larger less detailed flower is stamped in Marina Mist. The smaller detailed stamp is stamped in Night of Navy. It just looks beautiful! The center of the flower is Crushed Curry. Add in some of the dots in the center with more Crushed Curry.

The leaves are stamped in Old Olive. I have found that it's easier to stamp the detailed leaf first. It makes lining up the solid stamp a more satisfying experience. Stamp off the solid stamp. It's also in Old Olive.

The stamping is beautiful, but it's the ribbon that just makes this card special. It's the Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon. Add a length of the ribbon across the card and then glue dot on a bow after the ovals have been positioned.

The navy oval is cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits and the white oval is cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Stamp another flower. The sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set. Attach the ovals with dimensionals.

The inside has yet another flower. Beautiful Bouquet is the source of the sentiment here, too.

Did I tell you that I love this stamp set? I hope you do too because I have at least one more sample coming up soon. Now, let me say that if you don't already have this set, you will want to make sure you get it. I would love for it to make it into the next annual catalog, but there are no guarantees. You might want to stock up on this ribbon, too.

Birthday Card Haul

Last week was my birthday. It was a big one for me. I won't tell you how old I am, but one of my cards does happen to have my age on it. Thanks to my sister. I'll have to forgive her because the card is so beautiful. Today I'm going to share my birthday cards that were hand made. I'm positive that many are CASEd from Pinterest or some other source. If you see a card that you designed please consider it a compliment to you. If you want to comment and give yourself credit, please do so. I'll start with my sister's card. Garden in Bloom and Feelin' Special

Today I want to show a card that we made in class recently. I just got the stamp set Garden in Bloom. I shared a card with you using that set here . This set is just so easy to use. I wanted to show you some completely different colors. Here is the card.

I just love Emerald Envy with Fresh Fig! Who knew that would be so pretty.

The card base is Emerald Envy. It is cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.

The Fresh Fig layer is 3 3/4 x 5. The Whisper White layer is 3 5/8 s 4 7/8.

Stamp the sentiment for this card first. Then stamp the flowers and leaves wherever you please. The outlines of the flower and leaf are stamped full force. The inside of the flower and leaf is stamped off.

When finished stamping, cut two circles out using the Layering Circles Framelits. Center the smaller circle around the sentiment. Place the larger one equidistant from the other circle. These can be cut out at the same time. Adhere the white rectangle to the card. Lay the outer circle piece down where it was before making sure to align the stamping. Put adhesive on the back of the smaller circle. Adhere to the card making sure to align. Pull up the outer circle and add a Foam Adhesive Strip around the back. Adhere making sure to align once again.

Add a bow using the Emerald Envy Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. It is beautiful!

Here is the inside of the card. Just add another flower. The sentiment is from Garden in Bloom, too.

This is a fun technique to try. I'm seeing a lot of them with the Large Letter Framelits. I'll have to try that!

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #475 Quilt Card

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. Today we are using Soft Sky, Peekaboo Peach and Tangerine Tango.

Believe it or not, this is my second day posting cards using the orange colors. This has never happened before! I might even start liking orange! I'll tell you what I do like. That's the Christmas Quilt bundle. It's not just for Christmas! I think I might have said that before. Here's my card for today.

The card base is Tangerine Tango measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, folded at 4 1/4.

The next layer is Soft Sky cut at 3 3/4 x 5. The Peekaboo Peach layer is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4. Finally there is a Whisper White layer measuring 3 3/8 x 4 5/8. That's a lot of layers, but doesn't it look pretty! Do not adhere the white layer until it has been decorated.

To stamp the quilt, find the center of the white layer. That's where the center of the quilt square will go. Stamp the outline of the square. It doesn't matter what color you use since this will be covered up. I used black so I could see it clearly. Stamp the Soft Sky and the Peekaboo Peach areas of the square.

Using the Quilt Builder Framelits, cut out the square from Tangerine Tango. Use the quilt square and the square that's just a little bit larger together. Adhere this outline over the black stamping done earlier. Run this through the Big Shot to make the stitch lines on the stamping you have done. Cut the square out again from Soft Sky using the framelits. This time you do not need to use the outer square. Use this to fill in the other areas within the square you are making.

For the flowers around the edges, first stamp in Soft Sky. Cut the flowers from Peekaboo Peach and adhere using the Fine Tip Glue.

The tiny flower in the center of the main square is in Peekaboo Peach. Use the Quilt Builder Framelits. Add a rhinestone in the center.

The sentiment on the tag is from So Many Shells. The white layer has the flower stamped in Soft Sky and the words in Tangerine Tango. It is punched with the 1 1/4 inch circle punch. The Tangerine Tango layer uses the 1 3/8 circle punch, and the Soft Sky layer uses the 1 1/2 inch circle punch.

The sentiment on the inside of the card is also from So Many Shells. Stamp the flower in Soft Sky and adhere the outline in Peekaboo Peach. Add another flower using the Quilt Builder Framelits in Tangerine Tango.
