Background Bits Host Set

Background Bits is one of the Host Sets located in the back of the annual catalog. Those Host sets are on pages 220-223.  You can earn the right to get one by having an order of $150 or more.  The chart on page 219 explains how you can earn Host Rewards.  Do we love free stuff?  Yes, we do!  Here's my card.

Background Bits

These are my thank you cards for customers this month. For thank you notes, I usually use the Note Cards & Envelopes.  I used the Whisper White ones.  These are one of the best values in the catalog.  You get twenty 3 1/2 x 5 note cards and envelopes for $6.00.  What a deal!

For this card, I stamped my own patterned paper right on the card using the Background Bits stamp set.  Most of it is random.

I started with the stamp that looks like words.  This was inked in Fresh Fig and stamped off.  The images were placed focusing on the left and then the right down the front of the card.

Next, I stamped the flower.  These were inked using the Stampin' Write Markers in Fresh Fig and Tranquil Tide.  Some were stamped full force and some were stamped off.  Again, these were randomly placed.

Finally the circular stamps were placed wherever needed.  These were stamped off.

The focal point of the card is a single flower stamped on Whisper White.  It was cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits.  A scallop oval was cut from Tranquil Tide using the same framelit set.  Dimensionals were placed on the back of the green oval.  Top it off with a bow of Linen Thread.

The sentiment comes from the same set.  In order to make it show up a banner of Tranquil Tide measuring 1 x 3 1/2.  The white piece is 3/4 inches wide.

Background Bits inside

Here's the inside of the card.  I love it when I can make a great card using only one stamp set.  But I must admit that I love making cards with lots of stamp sets.  I just love making cards!!!!!!

Host Set Background Bits

This card was a lot of fun to make.  I'll be honest. Coloring the flower stamp with markers did get a little old by the 25th card!

Thanks so much for taking a look at my blog today.  Come back!

Thanks a Watt

Today's card uses the Watts of Occasions stamp set.  The set centers on the light bulb. I think that I've mentioned before that my dad was an electrician.  Hence the purchase of this set.  I sure wish he was around to get a card using the set.  He might would get one like the card I have today.

Watts of Occasions card

We made this card in our last class and it is super simple.

The card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4 from Crushed Curry card stock.

The patterned paper is from the Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper.  The 2 patterns are cut measuring 3 x 4.  That's a great measurement to use for a class.  You can get 12 pieces from one 12 x 12 sheet.

The patterned paper is adhered to a black layer measuring 3 1/8 x 4 1/8.  You'll need 2 of these, one for each pattern.

The light bulb is stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Black on a piece of 2 x 3 Whisper White.

Tie some Basic Black Baker's Twine around this piece.  Use dimensionals to adhere it.

That's all there is to it!  In class we decided that we needed to sponge the inside of the light bulb with Crushed Curry ink.  Do you like it better?  We all did!

Watts of Occasions

Here's the inside of the card.

The sentiment on the inside comes from the stamp set Hello Friend.  We sponged this light bulb, too, but I don't have a picture of it.

Thanks for stopping by today.  If you enjoy my cards, I hope you'll share my blog with your friends.  I would appreciate that!  Have a great day!

Tree Rings Background Stamp CASE

I've been working on CASEing some of the cards in our annual catalog.  Today I'll be looking at the card pictured on page 164.  It uses the new Tree Rings background stamp.  Here is the picture in the catalog.

Tree rings catalog

This is the card that I made.  We made this card in class this week.

Tree Rings CASE card

The card base is Crumb Cake measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored 4 1/4.  Stamp the Tree Rings background stamp on the front in Early Espresso.

The daisy is stamped in Rich Razzleberry onto Rich Razzleberry.  Make two of them. Punch out with the new Daisy punch.  Stamp the center of the daisy all in razzleberry and punch out with the 1/2 inch circle punch.  Also stamp a razzleberry circle with the 1 inch circle punch.  Cut this circle all around in little slits.  Adhere the parts of the daisy with dimensionals.  Curve the petals using your bone folder.  Use the Daisy Delight bundle.

Stamp 3 leaves on Old Olive and fussy cut them out.

This card has the beautiful copper trim running around the card and a little bow. Now, if you were in my class, you are saying WHAT!  I did not have the ribbon on the class cards.  To be honest, I found that I didn't have enough of the ribbon and it was too late to order more.  It really looked fine without the ribbon.

The words, stamped in Early Espresso on Crumb Cake, are from the Lovely Inside & Out stamp set.  It coordinates with the Lovely Words Thinlits.  That's where we got the word hugs.  It's cut out of the copper foil.  Here's a copper foil hint:  When you cut some thinlits out of foil, you can see the little dots from the back of the thinlit.  If you use the Precision Plate, you will not see those dots.

Tree Rings CASE inside

Here's the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from the stamp set Sorry for Everything.

When you stamp the flowers, stamp off the solid stamp.  The detailed stamp is full force.  The stems are Old Olive.

Tree Rings

I am loving the Tree Rings background stamp.  I think this was a nice CASE.

Butterfly Basics CASE the Catalog

On Monday, I started a little series of cards I have CASEd from the catalog.  CASE means Copy and Share Everything or some say Copy and Selectively Edit.  Either works.  We made these cards in my recent class.  We all look for ideas whether it be from friends, Facebook, or Pinterest.  The annual catalog is also a great resource.  It's full of ideas!

Today I'm CASEing a card on page 149 of the catalog.  Here's the picture from the catalog.

Butterfly Basics catalog

I adapted the tall card to our regular size card, but I didn't really change a lot.  Here's my card.

Butterfly Basics catalog CASE

Let me say that I did reink my white craft pad before we had class.  I do love white pigment ink on Crumb Cake.  One bit of warning.  This ink does take a little time to dry.  Just give it a little time or hit it with the Heat Tool for a few seconds.  My second warning is cleaning this ink.  Don't use the Stampin' Scrub for this!  It makes a mess.  I recommend a wet wipe.

This card base is Crumb Cake cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.

Stamp the flowers in White Craft Stampin' Ink.  See notes above!  We are using the Butterfly Basics stamp set.

Add the black stripe at the bottom.  We used the Tuxedo Black Memento ink, but the Basic Black Archival ink would also be great.

Make sure that the white ink is dry before you stamp the fern in Versamark.  I suggest using the Embossing Buddy.  We used Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder.  Melt with the Heat Tool.

Stamp the sentiment on a piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 1 1/4 x 4 with Versamark.  Don't forget to use the Embossing Buddy first.  Emboss the sentiment in copper also.  Notch the ends.  You can use the Triple Layer Punch to do this.

Cut the butterfly using the Butterfly Thinlits from Basic Black card stock.  I did use the Precision Plate and I did run it through several times to get a good cut.  Put glue dots down the body of the butterfly and adhere.

Add a bow using the 1/4 inch Copper Trim.

Butterfly Basics inside

Here's the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from Beautiful You.  Add a butterfly from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in black.
