Oh, So Eclectic Meets Thoughtful Banners
A Little Christmas Painted Harvest

It's Back to School with the NC Demo Blog Hop

So, it's back to school time.  Where has the summer gone?  I'm a retired first grade teacher so this time of year always has mixed feelings for me.  I loved teaching my little ones!  But, I have to say that I love being retired!  It's my reward, right!

Being a retired teacher, I think I know what a teacher might like to receive as a gift. She, or he, needs something useful and cute!  I'm really excited to share my project for today.  It's a peek into the new Holiday Catalog going live on September 1.  It's a great catalog!  It has these really cute little pizza boxes that are just adorable!  Just let me share.

Pizza box and note cards

Here's the box.

Pizza box side

Who knew that you can stamp directly onto the dull side of the box?  I was afraid I would ruin it but I think it turned out really cute.  Stamp the box while it is still flat. The seams will not stamp.  It doesn't matter.  Here are a few pictures to show the process.

Pizza box with Crushed Curry

This image shows the flat box stamped with the larger flower image from the stamp set Painted Harvest.  I used Crushed Curry.

Pizza box add Pumpkin Pie

Next, add the smaller flower image on top using Pumpkin Pie.

Pizza box add leaves

The centers of the flowers are in Soft Suede.  Add the leaves.  The more solid stamp is in Pear Pizzazz and the more detailed stamp is Always Artichoke stamped off.  There are places that I used a little mask so that the stem of the leaf was not quite as long. Just hold a piece of scrap paper near the edge of the flower and stamp so that part of the stem goes on the scrap.  The best part of this stamp set is that the stamping does not have to be perfect to still look great!

Fold the box and get ready to make the note cards for the inside.  Teachers need to send notes from time to time.  Sometimes these notes need to be special.  These can't be mailed, but they can be put in that special place to be taken home in a book bag. They might be placed in someone's mail box at school for a special cohort.

The Holiday catalog has brought back the 3 x 3 envelopes and they fit perfectly into the pizza box.

Pizza box note cards

I made 8 note cards and envelopes.  These are flat.  Ten could have fit in there.

The base of the cards are Always Artichoke card stock cut at 3 x 6 and folded.  Put the fold at the top.

Cut the Whisper White layer at 2 7/8 square.  You'll need 16 of these.  Eight of them will be adhered inside the note card.  These are small so they were left blank so there would be room for writing.

For the front of the cards stamp the flower just as stamped for the box near the lower right corner.  Add the leaves the same as stamped for the box, too.  The sentiment is from the stamp set Flourishing Phrases stamped in Always Artichoke.  They look so cute!

Stamp the flaps of the envelopes using all the same colors.  Open the flap and place a scrap piece of paper at the fold so no ink goes on the front of the envelope.

Tie the cards with some Linen Thread.

Now, we need a tag for the front of the box.

Stamp the same flower on Whisper White card stock.  The sentiment is from the Painted Harvest set.  It's in Always Artichoke.

Cut this out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

The leaves are stamped on white paper and then punched out with the coordinating Leaf Punch.  Make 4 of them and just place them where needed.

Add a bow of Linen Thread.  Run the thread around four fingers until happy, slip off and tie more thread around the middle.  Use a longer thread for this so you can wrap it around the middle several times before tying it off.

Of course Wink of Stella adds the finishing touch to the label.  Adhere with dimensionals.

It's hard to see the shine, but it's beautiful!

So there you have it.  I must say I am really proud of this project.  Can you tell by all the pictures I included?

There are other great ideas on the hop this month.  Be sure and continue to see them all.  Tracie is next.

WOW! Gorgeous box and cards Jo Anne. Didn't even think about stamping on the box itself. Anyone would be happy to receive your gift.

SHARON MARANICH

OK JoAnne - I wasn't going to get those pizza boxes OR the Painted Harvest!! You have changed my mind! Love your project!

Thank you so much for sharing this great project. I was able to CASE and make this successfully. I was skeptical about this set but it is so forgiving and anyone can easily make this from beginners to advance. The one little change I made was using the recipients favorite colors.

Jo Anne Hewins

I'm so glad you made the project. You are right that it's easily made. I hope your recipient loves it. Thanks so much for your note.
