This Little Piggy Had a Birthday!

Umple Jim had a birthday this week.  Even though my children are adults, we still say Umple Jim.  That's just who he is.  At one time Jim had a Harley and some how got the nickname Pigdog.  Don't ask me why?  I know Harley's are also nicknamed Hogs so I get that part.  Umple Jim also likes little pink drinks with umbrellas.  This is the card I made him.

This Little Piggy

I wanted to use the drink from Mixed Drinks for the pig, but it was just too big.  A friend reminded me that Colorful Seasons has a cup the perfect size.  Thanks, Tina!

  • The card base is Basic Gray measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
  • The next layer is Blushing Bride sized at 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.
  • The last layer is Smoky Slate cut at 3 3/8 x 4 5/8.  Run it through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot Basics Embossing Folder.  The stamp on each of the raised dots is in Daisy Delight.  It has three flowers, but just ink up one of them.
  • Stamp the pig in Basic Black Archival ink on Blushing Bride Card stock.  Fussy cut. I did add a few highlights using my Aqua Painter and ink from the lid of the Blushing Bride pad.
  • Stamp the drink with Blushing Bride ink on Whisper White.  There is a framelit to use from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits to cut out the glass.  Adhere the pig and glass with dimensionals.
  • The Basic Gray banners are 1/2 x 3 1/4 and notch on the ends.  Stamp in gray the little flowers again from Daisy Delight.
  • Make a Wish and Happy Birthday come from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous.

This Little Piggy inside of card

Here's the inside of the card.  The Happy Birthday Thinlits were used for the words. Of course I had to add the pink drink with an umbrella.  I did have to fussy cut it.

This Little Piggy birthday for Jim

So Happy Birthday Umple Jim.  I can guarantee that Jim will never see this!  I'm glad you did.  Thanks for stopping by.  There is not much time left of Bonus Days.  For every $50 you spend in July, you'll get a coupon for $5 to spend in August.  Treat yourself!

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #468

We have a great sketch to share with you at the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.

When I saw those frames, I immediately thought of the little pigs from This Little Piggy.  I also wanted to use the Embossing paste with them.

CCMC #468 This Little Piggy

This is one of those break out in a big smile cards.  I just love how it looks.  Here are the details.

  • The card base is Blushing Bride cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
  • The Early Espresso layer is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.
  • The next layer comes from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.  The size is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.
  • Stamp the pigs in Basic Black Archival Ink on Blushing Bride card stock.  You'll need to stamp the three pigs.  We will use one of them on the inside of the card. You do have to fussy cut these.
  • The frames were also cut from patterned paper from the Wood Textures stack. Use the layering squares for the squares.  They are the same size.  The square to the back is glued down and the other square is adhered using the Foam Adhesive Strips.  I did cut away part of the bottom square that would show inside the other square.
  • Before attaching the squares, it's time to get muddy!  Use the new Embossing Paste.  Put a little on the silicone square and add a drop of Crumb Cake Ink Refill.  Mix it up.  Figure out where the squares will go and then add the mud. You'll also need to muddy up the pigs a little.  Make sure you look at the inside of the card.  There's more mud and you might as well do it all at one time. Remember to clean the silicone mat and tools as quickly as you can before they dry.
  • When the paste is dry go ahead and adhere the frames and pigs.  The bottom pig is glued down. The top one is on dimensionals.
  • Party Time is stamped in Early Espresso on a piece of Whisper White repeatedly, cut to size and added with Foam Adhesive Strip to make it the same height as the frame.  Mine is 3/4 x 5.  This sentiment is from the Happy Birthday, Gorgeous stamp set.

This Little Piggy card inside CCMC#468

You know, this inside would make a great outside for a card, too.  The words are from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous.

This Little Piggy birthday

You'll go hog wild over this card!  Sorry, but I just had to say that.  I am loving the This Little Piggy set.  In fact, I'll have another pig card tomorrow so come back, please.

Southern Belles Swaps

I think I've mentioned before that I have a small local group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators  who meet once a month.  We are a great support for each other.  We always have a swap.  I shared my swap last Friday.  It's summer and our group was small last time.  It's so funny.  The other two both used Basic Black and Lemon Lime Twist.  I just love these colors together, but I haven't used them together yet.  With their permission, I'm sharing their cards today.

First, I have Kaye.  She is a part of my Luv 2 Create team.  Kaye wants me to give credit to Dawn Olchetske.  Kaye found her card on Pinterest and loved it.  I love it too!

Dawn Olchetske CASE

This card is just beautiful.  The card base is Lemon Lime Twist and also has a layer of Lemon Lime Twist measuring 4 x 5 1/4.  The stamp set used is Background Bits.  It's one of the Host Sets in the back of the catalog.  This card also used the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I had not seen the Basic Black 3/8 Shimmer Ribbon.  Let me tell you that it is gorgeous!  It's on my next order already.  Well, so is the Background Bits stamp set.

Tina made the next card.

Tina's Marbled card

Isn't this card just lovely?  Tina started with a Lemon Lime Twist card base.  The next layer is Basic Black measuring 4 x 5 1/4.  It's followed with a layer of Whisper White measuring 3 3/4 x 5.  The new background stamp Marbled was used for this layer. Ink it up in Lemon Lime Twist.  It's really pretty.  The Happy Birthday uses the Happy Birthday Thinlits in Basic Black.  It's so striking on the Lemon Lime Twist.

Lemon Lime Twist and Basic Black

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  I do appreciate it.  Please tell your stamping friends if you like what you see!

At Home with You for My New Neighbor

I have a new neighbor and I'm so happy to have her next door.  The At Home with You stamp set is perfect for a new neighbor.  I also got the new Embossing Paste and this was a perfect time to try it out.  Here's the card.

At Home for You and the Embossing Paste

Isn't it cute?  The Embossing Paste is really easy to use.  Here are the details.

  • The card base is Cajun Craze measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
  • The next layer is Smoky Slate card stock cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  Use the brick mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks.  Take a little of the Embossing Paste and put it on your Silicone Craft Sheet from page 203.  Mix in a drop of Cajun Craze Ink Refill.  I left space at the bottom of this layer for the porch of the house.  Lay down the mat and, using one of the Palette Knives, spread the paste evenly over the mask.  Mine isn't perfect.  I don't really think that matters.  I didn't put any paste in the section that would be covered by the door.  Set aside to dry while you clean your supplies.  This paste does not take long to dry.  Rinse with warm soapy water the mat, silicone mat, and knife before it dries on there. By the time this is done you are ready to complete your card.
  • Stamp the door on Basic Gray card stock in Memento Black ink.  Go ahead and stamp the light fixtures and the welcome mat.  Cut out using the At Home Framelits.  The door also has the window cut out and some So Saffron card stock put behind.  For the lights, stamp again on some white and on some So Saffron. Cut out the candle stick and the flame.  Glue on.  It's a little tedious but it makes a big difference.  The door and lights are on dimensionals.  The doormat is not.
  • The plants are from the At Home with You stamp set.  After cutting with the framelits, trim off the pumpkins and color as you please with Stampin' Write markers.  I used So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, and Wild Wasabi.  Use dimensionals to adhere.
  • The sign at the top and the words are from At Home with You.  I thought they looked cute on the door.

Here's the inside of the card.

At Home with You neighbor

Simple.  The sentiment is from At Home with You.  The balloon is from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous.

At Home with You view

It was my first time using At Home with You and the Embossing Paste.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.  Time to deliver my card.  She told me she is not into card making.  Maybe I can change her mind!
