Tasty Treats Specialty Paper Gets Cut: Part 2

In a former post, I was talking about how hard it is to cut the designer series paper. It's even harder to cut the specialty designer series paper.  The specialty paper is usually printed on one side.  It has metallic or shiny parts to the paper.  Two of the papers for Tasty Treats have a cool shiny aspect to it.  I used the shiny strawberries and cherries paper here.  Today I'm going to use the piece of paper with the shiny ice cream.

Tasty Treats Specialty DSP

Not only am I using the other specialty paper from Tasty Treats, I'm using the same sketch.  I want you to see how different the two cards can look.  Most of the directions are the same for this card.

  • The base of the card is Peekaboo Peach measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4.
  • The Chocolate Chip layer is 3 3/4 x 5.
  • The patterned paper is cut 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.
  • The strip of patterned paper is 1/2 x 3 3/4.
  • Use the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies to cut a circle from Whisper White.
  • The dots on the circle are from the Cool Treats stamp set.  They are stamped in Crumb Cake.
  • The cone is cut using the Frozen Treats Framelits Dies.  Sponge it in Crumb Cake.
  • Cut the ice cream from Watermelon Wonder and stamp the swirls in the same color ink.
  • Attach the cone and ice cream using dimensionals.
  • The circle is also attached with dimensionals.
  • The sentiment is from the set Tasty Trucks and is stamped in Chocolate Chip. Notch the end.  Put half dimensionals on each end and attach over the ice cream.
  • Add a Linen Thread bow.

Ice cream inside

The inside of the card has a sentiment from Cool Treats.  The ice cream cone is cut just as the front and glued on.  Add the dots in Crumb Cake.

Ice cream 2

Now, here are the two cards again side by side.  They both use the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper and the same sketch.  They really do look very different.

Two cards

Now that I have cut into the specialty paper, I can tell you that every piece of the patterned paper in Tasty Treats is wonderful.  I don't often use every bit of a pack of paper.  This pack is almost gone!  I just love it!

CCMC451 Sketch with a Pop of Pink

It's another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge with the sketch below.

Displaying CCMC451.png

I'm using the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Weather Together Bundle.  April will be here soon.  Let's just say I'm getting ready for April Showers!

CCMC451 Weather Together

Here are the details for making this card.

  • The card base is Basic Black card stock cut at 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2.
  • All of the patterned paper for this card comes from the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The Melon Mambo printed strip of paper is 1/2 x 4 1/4. Hint:  I always use my grid paper to help me adhere strips of paper like this straight on a card.
  • The gold dot paper is the specialty part of this package.  The dots have a beautiful gold metallic sheen.  This layer measures 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.
  • For the insert at the bottom of the page, cut basic black 2 1/2 x 3.
  • A layer of Whisper White measures 2 3/8 x 2 7/8.
  • The black zigzag patterned paper measures 1 1/4 x 2 3/8.
  • Use the Umbrella Weather Framelits Dies to cut an umbrella and a handle from the designer series paper.  Attach these with dimensionals.
  • The sentiment is from the Weather Together stamp set.  Stamp it in Basic Black Archival ink.  Notch the ends.  Put half dimensionals on each end and straddle it over the handle of the umbrella.

Umbrella 5

The sentiment inside the card also comes from the Weather Together stamp set. Stamp three clouds on scrap white and cut them out with the Umbrella Weather Framelits.  Adhere to the card.  I added another strip of patterned paper along the bottom 1/2 s 4 1/4.

Umbrella 4

I'm noticing from the picture that the strip of pink does not look even.  It's the way the picture is taken.  Once again, use your grid paper to help you adhere strips of paper evenly.

Umbrella 1

This designer series paper lives up to its name.  It does give a pop of color.  Order yours today!  And, don't be afraid to cut that specialty paper!  Click on an icon below. By the way, the Weather Together Bundle will save you 10%!  Thanks.

A Delicate Details CASE

The days for Sale-a-Bration are ending soon.  Today I want to showcase the Delicate Details stamp set.  The card today was inspired by Claire Daly.  This is my card.

Delicate Details SAB

Don't you love the intricate lace designs!  Here's how I made it.

  • The card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 in Early Espresso.  Score it at 4 1/4.
  • The next layer is Rose Red and measures 4 x 5 1/4.
  • Early Espresso again with the measurements 3 1/4 x 4 1/2.
  • The Whisper White layer is 3 1/8 x 4 3/8.
  • The lace is stamped in Saraha Sand, Flirty Flamingo, and Rose Red.  Turn your paper kind of on the diagonal on your grip paper.  Now use the lines on the grid paper to line up the stamp.
  • The Flirty Flamingo banner measures 1 1/4 x 4 1/4.  Notch with the Triple Banner Punch.  Punch from the back and cut off just enough to get the notch.
  • The Whisper White banner measures 1 3/4 x 3 3/4.  Notch as above.  Stamp the birthday greeting from the Window Shopping stamp set in Early Espresso. Attach this banner with dimensionals.
  • Stamp a balloon in Rose Red onto the Flirty Flamingo card stock using the Balloon Adventures stamp set.  Punch it out with the Balloon Bouquet Punch. Attach with dimensionals.  Draw a string with the Flirty Flamingo marker from the 2016-2018 In Color Stampin' Write Markers.
  • Finish off with a star from the 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Shapes.

Delicate 3

Here's the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from Balloon Adventures and is stamped in Early Espresso.  Stamp the lace again in the same colors as the outside.

Hop into Spring with the NC Demo Blog Hop

Welcome to the NC Blog Hop.  We are so happy to share our spring projects!  Yea! for Spring!

Join us blog

It's always fun to think about our theme and figure out a stamp set to use.  But this time, I started thinking about all the designer series paper I still have.  To me, the dots say spring.  So I pulled out my paper and went to work (or play).  Here is the result.

NC Blog Hop with Designer Series Paper Stacks

This card is fun and pretty easy to make with the Sunburst Thinlits and your Big Shot.

  • The card base is make of Thick Whisper White card stock.  It measures 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2.
  • The card front is covered in Marina Mist dotted patterned paper from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.  Cut it 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.
  • Cut the center from a 2 1/2 square piece of Crushed Curry dotted paper from the Regals Designer Series Paper Stack.  Use the Sunburst Thinlits for all of the layers and center the middle of the circle part over the middle of your paper square.
  • The next layer is Flirty Flamingo from the 2016-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack cut from a 3 inch square.
  • Calypso Coral is the next layer from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack cut from a 3 3/4 inch square.
  • This is followed by a layer of Watermelon Wonder cut from a 4 inch square.  This color is in the 2015-2017 In Color Designer Series Paper.
  • Finally cut a sunburst from a Wild Wasabi 4 inch square.  Cut a couple double sections for leaves.
  • Trim each layer into a circle but be a little crazy with your cuts.  Each layer is a little bigger.
  • Attach the layers to each other with dimensionals.  Yes, you are right.  This card will not mail well.  Place each layer off center of the layer below.
  • Glue the flower just a little off center of the card.  Turn the card over and trim any parts that are hanging off flush with the card.

Flowers hop 1

  • Now you must fluff each layer up at the ends.  This helps the layers pop.
  • The sentiment on the front is from Sunshine Sayings.  The words are stamped in Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White scraps and cut apart.  Place them on half dimensionals.
  • I felt the card needed a little something else, so I added the dots from Bunch of Blossoms randomly.

Flowers hop 3

The sentiment on the inside comes from Big on Birthdays.  It's stamped in Watermelon Wonder.  Stamp some more of the little dots in black (Bunch of Blossoms).

Flowers hop inside

This card would be great to boost someone up with different words.  It's so bright and cheery.

Do you have lots of scraps of designer paper?  Use them up on beautiful flowers.  It's spring!  Celebrate!

Just click on an image below to order any of these great papers or anything else you might need.  Thanks so much!  The product list follows the list of hoppers.

Happy Celebrations!

The Happy Celebrations stamp set on page 40 of the Occasions catalog pairs with the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.  They are unique!  The embossing folders actually deboss.  That means that the impressions go down into the paper.

Happy Celebration

For this card I stamped the Happy in Night of Navy in the middle of a 2 x 5 piece of Whisper White.  Then line up the word with the happy embossing folder.  As I look closer this folder seems to emboss and deboss at the same time.  Wow!

Happy 4

  • Start with a card base of Watermelon Wonder measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4, and fold.
  • The Night of Navy card stock layer is 3  3/4 x 5.
  • The next layer is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.  This paper is the Carried Away Designer Series Paper that is a free choice with Sale-a-Bration.  You know there is only about a week of Sale-a-Bration left.  Time is running out!
  • Place the happy sentiment at an angle across the paper.  Trim the ends to fit the navy layer.
  • Using the same patterned paper, make two banners measuring 3/4 x 4 and notched at the end.
  • Stamp the birthday to you on a 1/2 inch piece of Whisper White in navy.

Happy 3

For the inside, celebrate is stamped in Watermelon Wonder ink.  The balloon and the rest of the sentiment is stamped in navy.  The balloon is from the Balloon Adventure stamp set.

Happy 1
