NC Blog Hop for February, Favorite Occasions
February 26, 2017
Welcome to another NC Blog Hop! I'm so excited to have you come along with us. We are posting about our favorite Occasions catalog item. I don't know how to choose. The catalog is filled with so many wonderful items. Ask my pocketbook about that! I can't stop adding to my collection!
I've been spending this whole week using the Basket Bunch stamp set and the Basket Builders Framelits Dies. Today I'm sharing a frame with you. I will tell you right now that this project was a LOT of hard work. But now I've done the thinking for you! Warning! This post might end up being quite long. Please stay with me. I have an easier card alternative near the end. I must say that I am so proud of this frame. Here it is!
Now, of course there is glare on the frame. It's impossible for me to take a picture without it, but I've got pictures before it all went into the frame. Here's just a few details. The frame is from Ikea and measures 9 x 9. It is a shadow box. The background paper for the frame is from Succulent Garden. Each square is cut from the Stitched Shape Framelits, the next to largest. Each square is mounted on a scallop square cut from the Layering Squares Framelits Dies. The colors for this are Tip Top Taupe, Pool Party, and Mint Macaron. Almost everything is adhered with dimensionals. You'll use a lot. Here is a picture of the frame before it went into a frame.
I think you can see that a little better. I'm going to tell you a little about each square.
The first square has a background from Succulent Garden. The grass is Old Olive. I glued it to a piece of Whisper White and then cut out a circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. The bunny is stamped in Early Espresso on Tip Top Taupe. The egg is Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight
The background paper for the sun is from the Sale-a-Bration paper Carried Away. The sun is punched using the 3/4 inch circle punch. The rays are the stem die. Little clouds are added. They are cut using the Up & Away Thinlits Dies.
The background paper for the daffodils is from the Tasty Treats Specialty paper. The daffodils are stamped in black on Daffodil Delight. The stems and leaves are from Old Olive.
The peeps are on a background from Succulent Garden. The peeps are alternating Pool Party and Daffodil Delight. Add a little bow using the Linen Thread.
The basket is on a Succulent Garden background. The basket is Tip Top Taupe. It's on a solid basket from Early Espresso. You can see a little grass peeping behind the eggs. It's Old Olive. The eggs are Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, and Pool Party. I did shorten the handle to fit better. A linen thread bow embellishes the handle.
The carrots square is again on a Succulent Garden background. Stamp the carrot in Tangerine Tango onto Pumpkin Pie. The tops of the carrots are stamped in Garden Green on Wild Wasabi. Trim the tops and glue them on the orange carrots.
The chicks are on a background from the Party Animal Designer Series Paper. Clouds again were added with the Up & Away Thinlits. The grass is Old Olive and the chicks are stamped in black on Daffodil Delight card stock. Color in the beak with a Pumpkin Pie marker. The tiny basket is stamped in black on Tip Top Taupe. I did have to fussy cut this basket. Hint: cut the handle off and then just match it up when gluing to the paper.
The flowers are stamped in Calypso Coral on coral. Add leaves in Mint Macaron. The flower centers are from the Regals Enamel Shapes.
The bunnies are stamped in black. Color in the bow ties with Pool Party and Calypso Coral markers and ears with a Blushing Bride marker. Another carrot was added.
So there you have it.
So, you just might be thinking that this is fantastic, but who wants to put in this much work. I enjoy working on something like this, but it's not for everyone. Here's an alternative for you. Take one of the squares and use that to make your card. Here is an example.
This card is on a card base of Pool Party. There is a layer of Tip Top Taupe and then a layer from the Succulent Garden. The square on this card does not have all of the dimensionals used for the frame. I added 5/8 Mini Striped Ribbon in taupe and some Linen Thread. The sentiment is from the Gift from the Garden stamp set.
You can adapt any of the squares to make a card.
Thanks so much for looking at my project today. I am in love with the Basket Bunch bundle! You can see other samples from earlier in the week here and here and here. Please continue on the hop. There are more great projects to see. What will our other participants choose for a favorite Occasions project. I can't wait to see!
A list of supplies will follow the list of blog participants. You need to order this bundle and I would love to have your business.
