Time for a Global Design Challenge #068

The Global Design Project challenge is to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) Jess Williams.  Here's the graphic for the challenge #GDP068.

#GDP068I love the colors in the card Jess made, so I kept to the Night of Navy, Crumb Cake, and Watermelon Wonder.  The Cool Treats bundle has also become one of my favorites.  I've already shared several cards on my blog with this bundle.  Oh, we are all so excited that the Occasions catalog is live today!  Hurray!  Did you know that when you buy the Cool Treats Bundle, that you are so close to qualifying for a Sale-a-Bration item?  Add in some Linen Thread and you are there!  I digress.  Here's the card for the challenge.

Global Design Project #068

I kept the basic lay out of the card making a few minor changes.

  • Begin with a card base of Night of Navy measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4, and folded.
  • The Crumb Cake layer is 3 1/2 x 5 1/2.  Here's a tip.  I cut the ice cream cone and the ice cream scoop out of the center of the Crumb Cake layer.  The patterned paper hides that there are holes.  Paper saver!
  • The patterned paper is from the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper and measures 3 x 5 1/2.
  • Use the Layering Ovals to cut the Whisper White center oval and the Night of Navy scalloped oval.  The navy piece is attached with dimensionals.
  • Use Crumb Cake, Watermelon Wonder, and Chocolate Chip to cut the parts for the ice cream cone using the Frozen Treats Framelits Dies.  I added the dots from the Cool treats set in Watermelon Wonder.  It just looked like it needed a little something.
  • The Let's Celebrate sentiment is from the Balloon Adventures set.  It's on a 1/4 inch wide white piece that is notched on each end.
  • The bow is Night of Navy Solid Baker's Twine and Linen Thread tied together.  I did use one of the bow makers and probably looped it around 6 times.

I do love how this card turned out.  It just makes me happy.  I love it when a card just comes together and Jess's card was a big inspiration.

Global Design Project #068 inside

Here's the inside of the card.  Everything is from the Cool Treats stamp set.  The ice cream scoop itself was stamped off and then the swirls are Watermelon Wonder without stamping off.  More of the dots were added.  I'll let you in on a little secret. The dots are there because I had a stray spot when I stamped.  Isn't that what stampers do?

#GDP068

This little baby is going in the mail later today!  I have just the perfect birthday person! Thanks so much for taking a look at my blog today.  You need this set.  The framelits are a must have!  My list of supplies follows.  If you need a catalog, just let me know!
