Oh Lovely Copper and Embellished Ornaments
Cookie Cutter Scarecrow is Too Cute!

Home Sweet Home Christmas

When I saw samples of the Home Sweet Home Thinlit Die house being altered for card fronts, I immediately thought of a bird house.  I used this idea to make a Christmas card for a card swap.  Here's my card.

Swap 5

This card isn't easy.  As you can see there are a lot of parts.  I love that kind of card!  I must say that a television is a requirement when you are cutting out a lot of parts! You need something light though.  I love to put on the Hallmark channel because, frankly, I've seen most of those movies.  When I space out a little it's OK.  I still know what's going on.  I think I'm rambling.  Here are the details for the card.

  • The card base is Cherry Cobbler 4 1/2 x 11, scored at 5 1/2 and folded.
  • The next layer is 4 x 5 1/4.  I used the This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper from the annual catalog.  I love this paper!  It's a little thinner than our usual designer paper, but this allows you to get 24 12 x 12 double sided sheets instead of the usual 12.  What a value,  and it's great for those of use who teach classes.  There's enough to go around for all!
  • The next Cherry Cobbler layer measures 3 x 4 1/4 and the Whisper White layer is 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.  I did stamp snow on the white piece using the Christmas Pines stamp set.  I used Tip Top Taupe ink.  The sentiment at the bottom is from the same set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.
  • I cut out the Home Sweet Home from Tip Top Taupe using the Big Shot.  I simply used the score lines the die makes to fussy cut out the front of the house shape.  It's stamped in Tip Top Taupe using the Hardwood background stamp.
  • The hole for the house is Basic Black card stock.  It's cut out using the 1/2" circle punch.  The bird is from the Birds and Blooms Thinlit Dies and is cut from Cherry Cobbler.  I decided to place the bird so that the taupe was behind the eye.  I replaced the wing piece because I didn't want to see the taupe behind that. Those birds are just too cute!

Swap

  • The window is part of the Home Sweet Home dies.  I cut one in white, turned it over and traced on black.  I cut the black piece with snips just a tad smaller and glued the two together.  Use your Fine Tip Glue Pin.
  • The bow (Cherry Cobbler) and the pine boughs (Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz) and mistletoe (Garden Green) are all from the Pretty Pines Thinlit Dies.  It pairs with the Christmas Pines stamp set for a bundle price!  Glue these pieces to the top of the house.  I left the tips of the boughs free so they would stick out a little. Pearls finish off the look.

Swap 3

  • Adhere the house with dimensionals.

Swap 2

The sentiment inside is from Christmas Pines stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

Swap 1

So here are my cards.  I only had to make 13 and 1 to keep.

Swap 4

So, my little red bird is all decorated for Christmas.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you'll come back!  Please check out my list of supplies below if there is something you need.  It goes right to my store.
