Badges and Banners

My upline Patty Bennett recently had a Facebook party for her Luv 2 Stamp group.  I was the winner of the big prize for the day.  Part of my prize was the Badges and Banners stamp set and the Best Badge punch that goes along with it!  Don't we all just love that word free!  Of course I had to play with it right away.  I have a card for you and a couple more in posts to come.  Here is the card for today.

I also had another set that hadn't seen any ink, so I decided to use Playful Backgrounds, too.  Here's how I made it.

  • I started with a card base of Basic Black.
  • I used Rose Red card stock for the next layer cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  On this layer, I stamped the open circles from Playful Backgrounds.  Then I stamped the closed circles stamping off first.  I did not try to line them up at all.  I used Rose Red ink.
  • The next Basic Black layer measures 3 x 4 1/4.
  • I used Cucumber Crush for the next layer.  It measures 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.
  • The Whisper White layer is 2 4/3 x 4.  On the white I stamped the open circles in Cucumber Crush.  I stamped the closed circles stamping off first.
  • I stamped the shield in Rose Red onto Whisper White and cut it out with my snips.  I cut close to the stamped image.  Then I punched the shield out of Basic Black using the Best Badge punch.  I adhered the two together to give a framed look.  The hello stamp is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink on white and punched out with the Duet Banner punch.  The word sending comes from the stamp set Sunshine Sayings.  I just cut around it.

  • The green banner is made using the stripes stamp in Playful Backgrounds.  I stamped the image in Cucumber Crush and then moved it down just a little and stamped again without reinking.  I also used a strip of the Rose Red diagonal paper from the Regals Designer Series Paper stack and a part of a Delicate White Doily.
  • I used the Solid Black Baker's Twine as an embellishment along with a few Rhinestones.
  • The badge is adhered with dimensionals.

Badges rose red inside

For the inside of the card, I stamped more of the circles from Playful Backgrounds. The sentiment is from the stamp set Acorny Thank You.

Color Fusers Blog Hop: July 2016-Part 2

Welcome to another Color Fusers Blog Hop.  This time we'll continue with using the colors Cucumber Crush, Flirty Flamingo, and Peekaboo Peach.  I'm so glad you are going on the hop with us.

 Color Fusers July 2016

My card features the stamp set Touches of Texture.  This set is new in the 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! catalog.  It's the perfect set to add a little something interesting to a card, but it can also take the main stage.

Touches 6

This is a birthday card, but I believe that it could fit any occasion.  Let me share with you how it is made.

  • I used a card base of Soft Suede.  It's cut the regular A2 size, 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.
  • The Peekaboo Peach layer measures 4 x 5 1/4.
  • The Whisper White layer is 3 3/4 x 5.
  • I used the long, almost rectangular stamp along the bottom and right side of the card.  I stamped off the Soft Suede before stamping on the card stock.
  • I used the larger almost square sprinkles stamp down the middle of the card.  I stamped off the Flirty Flamingo before stamping.
  • I stamped the flower spray using Basic Black Archival ink.  This was stamped twice.  Allow to dry.
  • A Blender Pen was used to color in the leaves and flowers.  Cucumber Crush was used for the leaves.  Peekaboo Peach was used for the flowers.  I added a touch of the Soft Suede in the center of the flowers.  The green covered the background pretty well.  The peach also did well over the pink sprinkles.

Touches 8

Touches 7

  • Down near the bottom I added part of a Delicate White Doily, a small strip of Flirty Flamingo card stock, and a strip of the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper. This all covered the bottom of the stems of the flowers.
  • As an added embellishment, a piece of the the new Burlap Ribbon was cut about 2 1/2 inches long.  I pulled a few strings from another length of ribbon to use as ties.  This was adhered using glue dots down near the base of the flowers.

Touches 2

  • The sentiment is from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.

Touches 1

The sentiment on the inside of the card is also from Birthday Blooms.  I also added another spray of flowers inside the card.

Congrats and the new Sprinkles Punch

We know the new Sprinkles punch is great for shaker cards, but today I have something a little different.  Yes, I will admit that it's a little labor intensive as one of my customers likes to say.  But, it's really cute.  Here's the card.

Confetti 4

It's pretty easy to make.  It just takes a little time to glue everything into place.  Here are the details.

  • The card base is Night of Navy cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4, and folded.
  • The Cucumber Crush layer measures 4 x 5 1/4.
  • The Whisper White layer measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  Emboss this white layer with the Sparkle Embossing Folder.
  • Punch sprinkles with the Sprinkles punch several times.  Use Night of Navy, Cucumber Crush, and Real Red.  Place these around the card and glue.  I suggest using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.  Since there is a banner going across, you might not want to worry so much with the center of the card.  It's all right to have some of the sprinkles go off the page.  Just turn your work over and you can easily see where you need to trim.
  • For the banner, you'll need a strip of Whisper White cut 1 1/4 x 5 1/2 and a strip of Night of Navy cut 1 1/2 x 5 1/2.  Adhere the two.
  • For the congrats, I used the Sunshine Wishes Thinlit set.  I cut one from Cucumber Crush and three from Thick Whisper White.  Glue them together with the Fine Tip Glue Pen with the green on top.  This allows for a really thick sentiment that stands out.  Decorate the rest of the strip with sprinkles.

Confetti 3

  • Adhere the strip to the white layer.  It will stick out on each side a little.  Turn your paper to the back so you can see where to trim.   Then assemble the card.

Confetti 2

On the inside of the card, I used a sentiment from the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set.  I added a few more of the sprinkles.

Confetti 1

I often show my creations to my husband, John.  He is so nice to actually take the time to look.  He sometimes has some great suggestions.  When I showed him this card, he immediately said he had the perfect person to send it to.  I hope they enjoy it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Don't forget to check back on Monday for a special blog hop!  Supplies follow!

Serene Scenery and the SUO Challenge #152

My last post shared a card made with the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper stack. If you missed it, you can see it here.  Today I have another card using this paper.  This paper really lends itself to a quick card.  You know that sometimes we are really rushed to make that special card, especially when it comes to sympathy.  However, today's card would work for any occasion.  The SU- Only Challenge theme for this week is Delight in Nature.  I felt this card was perfect.

In the meadow 5

I live in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains, so I don't think about deer at the beach.  A friend of mine moved to the beach and tells me about the deer that pay her a visit.  Then I saw a cute video on Facebook of a deer playing in the edge of the ocean.  So cute!  Thus, the thoughts for my card began.

In the meadow 1

  • I started with a card base of Crumb Cake cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.  Don't forget to use your Bone Folder to give it a good crisp fold.
  • The Island Indigo layer measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.
  • The beach scene from the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper stack is cut to 3 3/4 x 5.
  • I stamped the deer from the In the Meadow stamp set directly on the patterned paper using the Basic Black Archival ink.  I love the crisp dark image it gives. Warning, this ink does take a little time to dry and will smear if touched immediately after stamping.
  • In a few minutes, you can color the image.  I used Soft Suede ink and my Aqua Painter.  Mash down on the lid of the ink pad.  This will give you ink on the inside of the lid when you open it.  Put a drop or 2 of water and mix so that the color is thinned out a little and paint your image.
  • When dry, cut out the image using the Layering Circle Framelits.  I just tried a few circles until I found the one I liked for the image.  Cut a scallop coordinating circle from Island Indigo.  Adhere the two.  I pulled a few threads from the new Burlap Ribbon to tie around the circles.  Put dimensionals on the back of the circle.
  • Yes, you do have a hole in your patterned paper, but when you adhere it, the image will cover the hole since you have the scalloped frame added.  But, first, I stamped some birds along the sand using the Wetlands stamp set.  Now adhere the deer.
  • The sentiment on the front of the card is from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set.

In the Meadow 3

For the inside of the card, I used some of the designer paper left over when I cut it for the card.  I stamped more of the birds on the sand.  The sentiment here is also from Flourishing Phrases.

In the meadow 4

This makes a lovely card that doesn't take a lot of time to make.  Thanks so much for taking a look at my blog.  The list of supplies follows.  I'd love for you to order right from my online store!  I hope to see you on Friday!
