Color Fusers Blog Hop: July 2016-Part 1

Hi!  I hope you are enjoying the first ever Color Fusers Blog Hop.  We are so excited to share with you!  You might have come from Paola's post.  She had a great project for us.  The colors we are featuring are Cucumber Crush, Flirty Flamingo, and Peekaboo Peach.

Color Fusers July 2016

Here is the card that I made.  I used the Swirly Bird stamp set.  There are just so many ways to use that set!

ColorFusers card front

I've seen a lot of examples lately of using a stamp set to make your own background. That's what I have done here.  This is how I did it.

  • When making a background, begin with the largest stamp.  I used the solid circular stamp first.  This is a photopolymer set.  When stamping a solid image, it's important to have a cushion under your project.  The best thing to use is the Stampin' Pierce Mat.  I suggest you keep one of these mats just for stamping.  I used Flirty Flamingo, stamping off first.  I then stamped the swirls without stamping off on top.  Use that mat anytime you are using photopolymer stamps.
  • Next, I added the larger Peekaboo Peach swirl flowers.  Add the smaller Peekaboo Peach flowers.
  • Fill in some of the spaces with the Flirty Flamingo flowers.
  • Finally, I added the leaves to fill in even more of the space.  The smaller leaf is stamped off in Cucumber Crush.  I added the veins on top without stamping off.

The card base is Flirty Flamingo.  I added a layer of Basic Black card stock measuring 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  The stamped background layer is cut at 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.  The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set.  It's stamped on Whisper White using the Basic Black Archival ink.  I added some flowers and leaves around the saying.  Cut this out using the new Layering Ovals Framelits.  Make a scalloped frame out of Basic Black card stock using the same flowers. I used the Solid Black Baker's Twine to add a little accent to the card.  Adhere the sentiment with dimensionals.

ColorFusers inside

The sentiment on the inside of the card is from the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  I added some of the flowers and leaves around it.
