Hurray for the New Catalog! NC Blog Hop

It's coming and we're so excited!  The new catalog is fantastic!  Our North Carolina Blog Hop today is all about the new.

BLOG HOP JOIN US

As demonstrators, we were able to pre order a few items and we want to share them with you.  It all goes live on June 1st, so our mission is to make you want it all!  I have a couple cards to share with you today.

The first card uses the stamp set A Gift of Love.  It's a host set so you'll need a party or order of $150 to get it.  That shouldn't be too hard with all the beautiful stuff in the new catalog!

May NC blog gift card

Basic Black, Whisper White, and Melon Mambo can make quite the statement.  The patterned paper is the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.

  • Start with the basic card base of Thick Whisper White.
  • The next layer of Basic Black measures 3 3/4 x 5.
  • Next we use the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The mambo dots piece is 1 1/2 x 4 3/4.  The black and white stripe is 2 1/4 x 4 3/4.
  • Using Melon Mambo card stock, cut a piece 2 1/8 x 4 1/8.  Cut a piece of Whisper White 2 X 4.
  • Stamp the flower in Basic Black Archival ink.  This is a three part stamp.  Stamp the leaves in Old Olive.  Stamp the flowers with Melon Mambo.  Stamp off first so it's not so dark.
  • Layer the two pieces.  Tie some Thick Melon Mambo Baker's Twine around your panel.  Adhere using dimensionals.
  • Make two banners, one black and one in mambo.  The sentiment is from the A Gift of Love stamp set, stamped in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.

The inside has the flower stamped again.  The sentiment is also from A Gift of Love. Don't you love it!

I have another card I would like to share featuring the Swirly Bird stamp set and the Swirly Scribbles thinlits.  You can buy these as a bundle and save 10%.  There are so many samples already on Pinterest using this set.  It's a must have!  I didn't feel that way at first I must say.  I already love it!

May NC blog swirl

This card pairs the new Sweet Sugarplum with Rich Razzleberry.  They are beautiful together.

  • The card base is Rich Razzleberry. The next layer is Sweet Sugarplum measuring  3 3/4 x 5.  The Whisper White layer is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.
  • The swirlys are cut with the thinlits out of Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum.  Leaves are cut from the new Emerald Envy.
  • The sentiment is from Circle of Spring, stamped in razzleberry. The white circle uses the 3/4" circle punch and the razzleberry frame uses the 1 " circle punch.
  • The stamped corners are from the Helping Me Grow stamp set.

The inside of the card is stamped using the Swirly Bird stamp set.  The sentiment here is from the new Love & Affection stamp set.  I know I'll be using this one a lot!

More Swirly Bird and Global Design Project #37

The Global Design Project Challenge this week is a color challenge.  I thought the colors were ones I would like.

I designed this card using the Swirly Bird stamp set.

Global kite

I love how it turned out and it came together quickly.

  • The card base is Island Indigo card stock.  I do love this color, but I forget to use it.
  • The next layer is Mint Macaron measuring 3 3/4 x 5.
  • It's followed by another layer of Island Indigo measuring 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.
  • Finally, there's a layer of Whisper White measuring 3 3/8 x 4 5/8.
  • I stamped swirls in Island Indigo.  These were stamped off twice.
  • The kites are from Swirly Birds.  They were stamped on scrap paper, cut out, and added with dimensionals.  Swirly Birds is a photopolymer set, but I will admit that stamping the two parts together for me was hard.  Practice first.  That's one reason why they are cut out.

Global kite close up

  • The tails of the kite are stamped using the Swirly Birds set.  The bows alternate in colors from Island Indigo to Mint Macaron to Tip Top Taupe.
  • The sentiment is from the Balloon Builders stamp set.  I think it goes nicely.

Global kite inside

The inside of the card has another kite.  Once again, I stamped the kite on scrap paper, cut it out, and glued it to the card insert. The sentiment here is from Suite Sayings.  I'm so glad that set carried over to the new catalog!

Thanks so much for looking at my blog today. On Monday, the NC Demo group will have our blog hop.  It actually goes live Sunday evening.  The list of supplies follows. Quite a bit of it will be available June 1.  Maybe you need to add to your list.

Dude Card for #tgifc56

Guy cards are hard for me.  I don't like orange.  My husband loves orange.  He grew up near Knoxville, TN and has fond memories of going to football games at UT.  I decided that the TGIF Challenge was a good opportunity to challenge me.

TGIF MAY 2016 New Challenges-005

For this card I'm featuring Night of Navy and Pumpkin Pie.  In fact, I'm using the orange corrugated paper from the May Paper Pumpkin.  I had left over orange since I used some of the Paper Pumpkin to make a wedding card.  You can see that here.  So here's my card for today.

Guy Greetings full spread

There are lots of layers in this card.  Let me give you the details.

  • The base is Night of Navy card stock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.
  • The first layer is Pumpkin Pie cut at 4 X 5 1/4.
  • Next comes the navy stripe paper.  This is from the Regals Designer Series Paper stack.  This paper is 3 3/4 x 5.
  • The smaller navy rectangle is 3 1/8 x 4 3/8.
  • Finally, the corrugated piece is cut down to 3 x 4 1/4.
  • Using the Hello You Thinlits, I cut the word happy from Night of Navy card stock.  Glue that on to the Pumpkin Pie piece.
  • The Father's Day sentiment is from the May Paper Pumpkin.  It's stamped in navy on Whisper White card stock measuring 3/4 x 2 1/4.
  • Using the stamp set Guy Greetings, stamp the hats in navy on white.  Fussy cut these out and adhere to the card.  I like the hats sitting on the word.

Guy greetings inside

Here's the inside of the card.  I added a row of hats across the top and the bottom. The sentiment is also from Guy Greetings.  One more hat, stamped in Pumpkin Pie, is added to the insert.  I did stamp that on a scrap piece, cut it out, glued it on.

Guy greetings

So the card for my husband for Father's Day is done.  I'm actually a little ahead of time!  Thanks for stopping by today.  Follow me on Pinterest here.  See you next time.

Swirly Scribbles for FMS237

I have a little sneak peak for you today.  I used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches to give me some inspiration.  I used a few new items, available June 1st, and a few continuing items.  Here's the sketch.

Freshly Made Sketches FMS237It's always fun to play with something new.  I'm loving the Swirly Scribbles thinlits. I'm also loving the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Others are too.  It's already on back order until June 13th.  Here's my card.

Freshly made full

Here's how I made it.

  • The base of the card is Basic Black card stock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.
  • The patterned paper is from Pop of Pink DSP.  The white with black dots is cut 2 3/4 x 5 1/2. The Melon Mambo is cut 3/4 x 5 1/2.  I cut two of these strips and added them to the sides of the dotted paper.  This saves my stripe paper to use another time.  Adhere it all to the base.
  • I used Crumb Cake card stock for the wreath shape.  I cut two of them using the Swirly Scribbles thinlits.  I stamped on them with crumb cake ink and the dots stamp from Timeless Textures and sponged just a little.  I glued one of them down to the base.  I added some dimensionals to the second wreath.  Yes, I did have to trim them down to fit on the back without seeing them on the front.  I shifted the second wreath over just a little before sticking it down.
  • Using the Tree Builder punch, I punched 6 flowers from Melon Mambo card stock.  I added a tiny pearl to each.
  • I cut 5 of the smaller leaves from Old Olive card stock.  That also used the Swirly Scribbles.
  • Add the flowers and leaves to the wreath with glue dots.
  • Add a bow using the Linen Thread.

Freshly Made inside

  • I stamped the sentiment in Archival Basic Black ink on Whisper White.  It's from the new host set A Gift of Love.  I used the Tags & Labels framelits to cut it out. Add a flower and leaf and a tie of Linen Thread.  Use dimensionals to add the tag to the card.

For the inside, I add a little more of the dotted patterned paper and a little strip of Melon Mambo to brighten the page.  Again the sentiment is from A Gift of Love.  Don't you just love that saying?

Freshly made the inside

Did you notice the little flower?

Freshly Made with flower

I bet you know the perfect person to send this card.  It has the perfect level of cuteness.  Thanks for joining me today.  I look forward to your visit on Wednesday!

Paper Pumpkin Goes Wedding!

I just love opening my mail box to find a brand new Paper Pumpkin.  It's exciting to see the new stamp set and the color of the ink spot!  Below is a video of the new Paper Pumpkin for May, 2016. Spoiler Alert if you haven't received yours yet.

This kit is great for those masculine cards you might need.  I decided to go in the opposite direction. With the use of some Silver Foil Sheets and the new Love & Affection stamp set, I made a wedding card.

PP wedding full

The Love & Affection set will be in the new Stampin' Up! catalog beginning on June 1st.  Need a catalog?  Contact me.  Here are the details for the card.

  • Using the stamp set Tin of Cards, stamp Happy Wedding in Versamark ink.  Coat with silver embossing powder, and heat with your heat tool.  Don't forget to use your embossing buddy first.
  • Cut a piece of Silver Foil card 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Put a glue dot from the kit in each corner.  Adhere this behind the laser cut out panel.
  • Using Whisper White card stock, stamp two of the larger flowers from Love & Affection and three of the smaller flowers in Versamark, coat in silver embossing powder, and heat.  Use that embossing buddy!  Now stamp the inside of the flowers with Versamark, coat, and heat.
  • Sorry to say, but the flowers have to be cut out by hand.  The embossing actually makes it much easier to cut.
  • Using the Rose Garden thinlits, cut out leaves from Pear Pizzazz card stock.
  • Adhere all of your pieces to the card.  I put dimensionals behind the small flowers.

PP wedding up close

I love how it turned out.  Masculine turns feminine!

I did make the cards from the kit.  I do need some masculine cards you know.

They are so cute and so easy!  Here's the inside of the Father's Day card using the stamp set Guy Greetings.
