Wild About Pyramid Pals

I must admit that I was intimitdated by the Pyramid Pals bundle.  There were too many pieces.  What do you do with all that?  Then cute little animals began to appear on Pinterest and I was hooked.  I'm not sure that most of my project is original, but I love how it all came together.  I first tried to make a frame, but we'll get to that later.

Animal notecards

I used the note cards and envelopes for this project.  I love them!  You get 20 cards and envelopes for only $6.00.  Now, that's a deal!  This is a project we made at my downline meeting.  We have the 4 cards, bagged, and tagged.

Animal elephant

Each of the note cards has a black rectangle in the center measuring 2 1/8 x 3 1/8. The Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack was used on each note card.  That piece measures 2 x 3.  Each card features 3 leaves cut using the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies.  There is one in Old Olive, one in Pear Pizzazz, and one in Mossy Meadow.  All are stamped using the Botanical Blooms stamp set in Mossy Meadow and sponged in Mossy Meadow.  The elephant uses Basic Gray cardstock and ink.  Of course the eyes are from Whisper White.

Animal frog

Love the frog!  I wish I could say that the fly was my idea.  I copied it!  You can make this fly using the Playful Pals stamp set.  So cute!  The frog is made using Garden Green cardstock, the tongue in Real Red, the pond in Tempting Turquoise, and the lily pad in Pear Pizzazz.  I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut the lily pad.

Animal bird

The bird is sitting on a Soft Suede branch hand cut to fit across the patterned paper. The bird uses Tempting Turquoise cardstock.  The beak is Tangerine Tango.  The wings are part of the frog's feet and the feet of the bird uses the elephant's trunk.  I put some feather tuffs above the eyes, but I'm not sure about those.  You could leave them off.

Animal lion

For the lion, I stamped the face shape on a piece of Whisper White.  Then I stamped the ovals around that shape.  I cut all of that out.  Another face was added in Delightful Dijon on top.  The ears are cut from Delightful Dijon and the nose is cut in Basic Black.  I used Basic Black Archival ink to stamp the eyes, mouth, and whiskers.

Animal notecards and topper

I also made a tag.  I used Tip Top Taupe measuring 4 1/2 x 5 and scored on the long side at 2 1/2.  The Go Wild paper measures 2 3/8 x 4 3/8.  I stamped the sentiment using the You're So Sweet stamp set and hand cut.  I added the leaves and a turquoise flower using the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  A Tangerine Tango candy dot finishes the flower.

Animal notecards package

So here is the finished project.  I used the Gusseted Cellophane Bags for the note cards and envelopes and added the tag topper.

I mentioned a frame at the beginning of the post.  Here is how that turned out.

Animal large frame

Sometimes you make a project that just makes you smile with pride.  This was one of those projects for me.  I hope you enjoy!  See you Friday!

NC Demo Blog Hop for April

Here we are again with the NC Demo Blog Hop for April!

Blog hop NC

This month we have a wide choice of topics for our hop.  I've chosen a little of all three, Mother's Day, feminine, and maybe you could call it retiring.  If you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you got a free stamp set in celebration of Paper Pumpkin's third birthday and the sale of their one millionth Paper Pumpkin.  It's lovely.  It's the stamp set I chose to feature this month.  It's a one time set, so I suppose you could say it's retired.  Here's the video on the All About Everything Stamp Set.

I used the same color pallet for all three of my cards today.  They are Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzleberry, and Blackberry Bliss.  You are probably aware that Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss are retiring also.  Sadness.  Here's my first card.

April blog hop

I used the Blackberry Bliss for the base of the card.  I stamped the Whisper White base with the fern stamp in Pear Pizzazz.  The Mother's Day sentiment is from the stamp set Circle of Spring.  I did wrap the sentiment rectangle in Linen Thread and top it with a bow.  All of the rest is the All About Everything Stamp Set.

April blog hop inside

I think the inside makes this a perfect Mother's Day card, don't you?

April blog hop 2

My second card has a base of Mossy Meadow.  I love the wider border on the outside of the card.  The Whisper White piece measures 3 x 4 3/8.  The Mossy Meadow piece is 3 1/4 x 4 5/8.  Once again, I used the Linen Thread around the panel and then popped the panel up with dimensionals.

April blog hop 2 inside

Here's the inside of the card.  I carried over the theme of having a wide margin around the layer of white.  The All About Everything Stamp Set is the only set I used for this card as well as for card number three.

April blog hop 3

This card is a little out of my comfort zone.  The Paper Pumpkin kit came with a Very Vanilla ink spot.  I must admit that I actually used Craft White ink.  Again, I have a larger area outside of the focal piece.  I stamped the base layer with the fern stamp and the flower bunch stamp.  There is lots of layering on this card starting with a Mossy Meadow base, and alternating with Rich Razzleberry.  I stuck in a layer of Blackberry Bliss to add a little interest.

April blog hop 3 inside

Here's the inside.  I left most of it blank.  I have to admit that I love to make and send cards.  I don't like to write in them.  That's why I always finish the inside.  It leaves less space to write. So, here are all of the cards together.  I think they make a cute set.

April blog hop all three

Thanks for coming by today.  I hope you will continue with the blog.  NC has some very talented stampers!  Click on the icon to continue or go to the list of links below.  I will have a list of supplies following the list of links.  Come back to my blog on Wednesday.  I have something special!

The Open Sea

Do you ever need to create a card, but alas, you just sit there and stare?  You hope for some divine inspiration.  Sometimes that happens, but not always.  That's when you turn to your annual catalog.  It has ideas and samples galore.  Take a look.  I needed to design cards for a class.  So with Retiring List in hand and the catalog, I ended up on page 84 of the outgoing 2015-2016 catalog.  You know we'll have a new catalog going live June 1, right?  Page 84 has the stamp set The Open Sea.  It's been a staple for several years when you need a masculine card.  It will definitely be missed.  It deserves a place in my May class.  The word CASE in the stamping world means Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Slightly Edit.  That's what I've done here.

By the Tide together

I have two cards here.  One is a little more simple than the other.  I have a regular 5 card class and I also hold a Clean & Simple class.  Thus, the two cards.

By the Tide simple

This card is for the Clean & Simple class.

  • The card base is standard and uses Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • On the base, stamp the worded list in Early Espresso ink and the compass in Bermuda Bay.  Use the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to add spots in Bermuda Bay.
  • Add washi tape to the bottom of the card.  Trim it to fit.  On this card, I used tape from the Cherry on Top and the Sweet L'il Things collections.
  • The banner is from Whisper White cardstock and measures 2 x 4.  Notch the ends using the Triple Banner Punch,  Stamp the ship from The Open Sea in Early Espresso.  The sentiment is from Guy Greetings.  Tape it to the card.
  • Add sequins from the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim.

By the Tide stepped up

To step up this card a bit I cut the word happy out using the Hello You Thinlits in Bermuda Bay.  I used the 2 Way Glue Pen to adhere.  The tag here is a little smaller at 1 1/2 x 4.  Again I used the Triple Banner Punch.  The sentiment is from Crazy About You.  I did use a different yellow washi tape, but I was running a little low on that. That's the only reason for the change.

By the Tide inside

The inside is the same for both cards.  The words are from Guy Greetings.  Subtle changes step up the second card, but they are both pretty!  Is there one you like best?

By the Tide together

The North Carolina Demo group will host it's monthly blog with my next post.  You don't want to miss it!  It's sure to please.  See you then!

This is a bitter sweet time for Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  We are saying good bye to so many stamp sets and accessories.  That's so hard.  But new stuff is coming with the new upcoming catalog.  That's exciting!  Here's a picture of just a few of the retiring sets.

Retiring stamp sets

Some favorites are here!  It will be so hard to say good bye.  You can still get these stamp sets until the end of May.  Stampin' Up! will produce these sets until May 22nd.  After that, you are taking a chance if you wait.  Some of the sets are discounted.  I bet you want to check out the Retiring List now!
