Disc Golf Birthday

A Happy Birthday goes out to my son-in-law Robby.  His birthday was yesterday.  I try to make special cards for my family.  This year I decided to make a card about his love for disc golf.  But, sadly, I don't know anything about it.  Thanks to google images, I came up with an idea.  The trouble is, I don't know if it's really valid.  As I write this post he hasn't seen the card yet, so I guess I'll find out later.  It's in the mail.  Maybe you can comment.

Robby's birthday card

I started with a card base of Mossy Meadow.  I used the Sheltering Tree stamp set for the background.  I wanted it to appear out in nature.  The trees are stamped in Early Espresso ink.  The leaves are Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz.  When you stamp the second layer of leaves, you need to move the stamp set a little so you aren't stamping directly on top of the other leaves.  I did sponge a little with the Pear Pizzazz and add sprigs of grass with Mossy Meadow.  The patterned paper is from the Going Places Designer Series Paper stack.   The goal (not sure that's what you call it) is made from thin strips of Basic Black cardstock.  I used scraps.  I just pieced it all together.  The curved parts are made using the Circles Collection Framelits.  I put two circles, one inside the other, and cut.  Then I just cut that apart.  Does that make sense.  The sentiment is from the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  You might be wondering about the red thing in the tree.  It's my attempt to have a disc caught in a tree.  I stamped part of a tree on a red scrap and then hand cut the disc.

I also used the Cottage Greetings stamp set for the sentiment on the inside.  I added another tree just like on the outside.  I just couldn't resist using the bicycle and yes, I know it's upside down.  Robby had a bike wreck recently.  Thank goodness, he's healing well!

Robby's card, too

Robby is also a big lover of music and the Beatles.  This is the card I made for him last year. He's a teacher so that's why the Mr. Raeford!  Hey, it's a play on the song!

Thanks for checking in today.  I hope you will check in again on Wednesday!
