Say It Isn't So, In Colors, Don't Go!

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop.  You've just come from Kitty's blog. Great projects!  This month we are featuring the five In Colors that will be retiring soon.

Feb blog hop 12

Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss, and Lost Lagoon will officially retire on May 31st.  If past years are any indication, they may well be sold out way before that date.  They are beautiful vibrant colors, and they will be missed.  We are also featuring products from the Occasions catalog.  While there may be some items that are carried over to the next catalog, most will not. The Occasions catalog will retire May 31st.

To highlight these products, I've made 4 Mini Treat Bags with a coordinating note inside.  All of the bags use the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack and a lot of other products from the Occasions catalog.

Feb blog hop

The bags are made using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits from the Annual catalog.  It takes 1 and 1/2 sheets of the patterned paper from the 6 X 6 paper stack.  Use Tear & Tape to adhere the bag so that it is good and strong.  The note card in each bag are cut 3 1/2 X 5 from Very Vanilla cardstock.  Each note card is embellished with a clothespin covered in patterned paper.  Just put a strip of Tear & Tape on the clothespin and adhere the paper cut at 5/16 x 1 1/2.  Trim the ends to fit.  Add a bow with a glue dot.  All of the bags are for birthdays.  Warning! Lots of pictures follow.

This bag uses the stamp set Beautiful Ride.  Don't you just love the little dog in the window?  Yes, this bag needed a lot of fussy cutting, but it's worth it.  The bag itself is the Lost Lagoon color.  I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to punch balloons from Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss cardstock.  I used Linen Thread to attach the balloons to the car and for the bow.  The birthday sentiment on the front is from Rose Wonder and the inside sentiment is from Birthday Blooms.  Looks like some of the balloons are getting away on the note card.

This bag uses Mossy Meadow patterned paper.  It features the Number of Years stamp set and the Large Numbers Framelits Dies.  You can get these as a bundle and save 15%.  I used all 5 of the In Colors for this bag and note.  The "TO YOU" comes from the Crazy About You stamp set in the Annual catalog.  I used the Very Vanilla Thick Baker's Twine for the bows.  I pulled it apart so that it would not be so thick.  I also used the Circles Collection Framelits for this project.

This treat bag features the Rose Wonder stamp set and the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies, also available as a bundle saving 15%.  The Hello Honey rose is mounted on paper from the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper and then cut out.  The leaves are stamped on Mossy Meadow cardstock and cut out too.  You can't tell from the picture, but I pinched the leaves a little so they would stand up.  All is adhered using dimensionals.  The "for you" is cut from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  The bow uses the Venetian Crochet Trim.

This treat bag features balloons punch with the Balloon Bouquet punch in all of the In Colors.  Do you see the Blackberry Bliss twine?  I used the Blackberry Bliss pad and a sponge to color Whisper White Baker's Twine.  It's really pretty easy to do, but maybe a little messy.  The bows on this project are also a little different.  I cut the thin blackberry row of color from the Blackberry Bliss 5/8" Striped Cotton Ribbon.  I just needed a thin ribbon for this.  The balloons are highlighted with the gel pen.  I did add the highlights to the balloon for the note card inside after I took all of my pictures.

Here are the four bags all together.  We will definitely hate saying good bye to these great colors.  It's been a good run.  The Occasions catalog is filled with great sets.  Love, love, love!

Botanicals! Can Spring Be Far Behind?

I'm working on a class featuring the Botanical Gardens bundle.  This bundle caught my eye as soon as I opened the Occasions catalog the first time.  I love flowers and I am ready for spring.  Winter isn't my most favorite season!  The class will consist of 5 cards.  Today, I am sharing just a little teaser.

Botanical purple flowers

This card starts out with an Old Olive card base cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.  I added a layer of Mossy Meadow cardstock cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  The Botanical Garden Designer Series Paper leaves sheet was cut at 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  Did you know that the Botanical Bundle has three components?  Yes, 3.  It has the patterned paper, the Botanical Blooms stamp set, and the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies.  Wow!

Botanical purple 2

The sentiment is from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.  It is stamped in Old Olive ink and then punched out with the 2 1/2 inch Circle Punch.  I made a little frame from that out of the Mossy Meadow cardstock using the Circle Collection Framelits.  To be honest, I cut this circle out of the layer of Mossy Meadow I had already cut.  It's going to be covered anyway and it saves paper!  I used the Botanical framelits to cut the flower out of Perfect Plum cardstock and the leaves from Old Olive cardstock.  I had to sponge around these elements!  I think it's required!  I did stamp the leaves with Mossy Meadow ink, too.  Candy Dots from the regals pack finish off my flowers.  The circle embellishment was attached to the card using dimensionals.

Tonight at 8:00 our NC Demo blog hop for February will go live.  You might want to check back tonight or Tuesday morning to see the hop.  I promise you there will be great projects!  This will serve as my Wednesday blog post so I won't post again until Friday.  Thanks for visiting with me today.  I'm really excited about my share for the blog hop.  Don't miss it!  Come back tomorrow and then again on Friday.

It's So Nice to Get a Thank You!

I try to give my customers a little Thank You card or some little goody in their bags of Stampin' Up! treasures.  This time I wanted to use the Host set from the back of the Occasions catalog called Love You Sew.  I got this set because it has a paint brush and paint smear.  My daughter is an art teacher.  She'll get a card using that sometime in the future!  This time I decided to use the saying "thanks a hole punch."  This made a quick card.

Thank you card

This card uses the Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes.  I cut a piece of the Watermelon Wonder patterned paper measuring 2 1/2 X 4 from the 2015-2017 In-Color Designer Series Paper Stack. I paired it with Night of Navy cardstock.  I used a strip of navy paper cut at 1/4 X 3 3/8 and punched it with the Hearts Border Punch.  I glued this to the lower third of the card.  Several of the punched hearts are adhered with glue dots on the card.  The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy ink on Whisper White.  I punched it out with the 2 inch Circle Punch.  This was adhered using dimensionals.

A Chick for Easter

I've been sharing 3D items I'm making for my booth at the emporium Shops on Main in downtown Conover, NC.  I'm happy to say that I have completed making my Easter items and I'm ahead of schedule.  I love when that happens! Now I can concentrate on upcoming classes.  Oh, yes, I do have classes that I hold in my home.  Let me know if you are interested.  But I digress.  Here's my chick for Easter.

ChickMy chick is made using the Pyramid Pals bundle.  I was not going to get this bundle.  I resisted, but I had to have it after seeing so many samples of items others had made.  Stamping is like that.  We all tempt each other.  Plus, I can always use 3D items for my booth.  Look at the video from Stampin' Up!

I used the Big Shot to cut out my chick in So Saffron.  You need to cut 2 of the base and two wings.  You will need one beak cut from Tangelo Twist, and the top head feathers cut from Real Red.  The video shows you how to put it together.  I stamped the eyes with Basic Black Archival ink and the triangle shapes with Soft Suede ink.  I used a sponge dauber to sponge around all of the surfaces for that finished look.  I used Tear & Tape to adhere the wings and the sides of the box.

The box holds a Tootsie Roll Pop.  I put the head feathers directly around the sucker stick so they would stick out of the top of the box.

Chick tootsie roll

I had to cut just a little off the top of the back of the box so there would be room for the stick to come out of the box.

Chick open in back

I put the sucker inside the box and then adhered the back.  I did tape it permanently with the Tear & Tape since it would be in a store.  You wouldn't have to do that to give to a friend.  The only thing left to do is fluff out the head feathers.

Chick back

Here's what the back looks like.  And here's a picture of some of my chicks.

Chick groupI think they are so cute!  I've shared with you all of the items I'll have for sell.  I have also given you plenty of time to make some of these for yourself.  Each day the supplies needed were listed for each project.  Did you know you can order these items from me?  Click on an item and you'll go to my store.  Or just contact me and I'll be glad to help you.  Here's my group of items.

Easter groupThese items will be at Shops on Main beginning in March!  Thanks so much for checking in today.  See you Wednesday!
