Flowering Fields Forever

Blog hop NC
Well, I guess Flowering Fields won't last forever.  Since it's a Sale-a-Bration item it will only be around until March 31st. Welcome to the first ever blog hop by the NC demo group.  We are excited to share with you!  You might have come from Kitty's blog. Didn't she have a great project to share?  If you are starting here, please continue on the hop.  You'll be glad you did.

Today I want to share a card using the Flowering Fields stamp set.  I love flowers and I love this set.

Flowering Fields card

I started with a card base of Rose Red cut to 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Blushing Bride.  It's cut at 4 X 5 1/4.  I added a piece of patterned paper from the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack cut at 3 3/4 X 5.  I think it offsets the flowers perfectly. The Whisper White cardstock in the center is cut at 3 1/4 X 4 1/2.  I stamped the flowers in the Basic Black Archival ink since I planned to color them using blender pens.  I wanted my flowers to appear taller than the stamp.  To do this I stamped the flower near the top of the paper.  Then I covered the flower with a scrap piece of paper and stamped the flower again at the bottom being sure to match the stems.

Flowering Fields work shot

I put the patterned paper across to cover where the two stems met when stamping.  This makes it appear that the flowers are taller than they really are.  The patterned paper is cut at 1 1/4 X 3 1/4.  The paper is from the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper and is another of the free Sale-a-Bration choices that we have.  The stamp set and paper coordinate so well together.  I used Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Old Olive, and Marina Mist to color the flowers.  When using blender pens, just press down the lid of the ink pad before you open it.  The color will be in the lid and ready for you to use.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Sky is the Limit stamp set.  It's also a Sale-a-Bration item.  It's inked in Rose Red on Whisper White and cut out using the Oval Framelits.  I adhered it with dimensionals and finished it off with a Rose Red Candy Dot from the Regals collection.

Flowering Fields card with envelope

Doesn't it look beautiful paired with an envelope lined with the same patterned paper!  For the inside of the card, I used a sentiment from Suite Sayings and another flower.

Flowering Fields inside of cardHere is another card that we'll be making in my Clean & Simple class next week.

SAB Honeycomb Happiness ChickThis card uses the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set from Sale-a-Bration.  I also used the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper for the chick.  I stamped the chick on the Whisper White and colored in the feet.  Then I stamped the chick again on the patterned paper and cut it out.  I just cut off the feet.  I colored in the chick's beak and adhered it with dimensionals on top of the original chick.  I had to embellish with a bow made from the Island Indigo cotton ribbon.

Jo Anne, I love your card and thanks for the great tip on how you made your flower "grow!" Such an ingenious little trick. Thanks for being part of the 1st NC Demos Blog Hop.

Your flower card is very pretty. Love how you finished the inside and made a coordinating lined envelope. Someone will feel very special when they get this card.

Love them both. What a color technique with the flower and that chick looks good in blue!
