Cards-Masculine Birthday

Enjoy Life on Your Birthday!

The stamp set Enjoy Life is one of the Million Dollar sets by the Million Sales Achiever Connie Fitzgerald.  Isn't it fun that these achievers can help design a stamp set!  Connie says that this stamp set was made with both of her children in mind.  She included some sayings her family lives by.  I like that!

I used this set to make a card for my nephew.  He is a bike rider so it fits him perfectly.

Enjoy Life Birthday Card by Jo Anne Hewins

This card starts with a base of Blueberry Bushel measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Sahara Sand and is 4 x 5 1/4.  The last layer is Whisper White and is 3 3/4 x 5.

Stamp the white layer with the Swirly Frames stamp set.  I used the colors Sahara Sand, Smoky Slate, and Blueberry Bushel.  I used the 2 circles and the square.

There is a layer across the card in Sahara Sand that is 1 x 5 1/4.  Stamp it randomly with the Blueberry square.

The bike rider is stamped in Blueberry Bushel.  I used the Stamperatus to stamp this.  The stamperatus allows me to stamp in the same place more than one time.  Sometimes a solid stamp like this needs to be stamped more than once.  Cut out the biker with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

The Happy Birthday is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set.  Stamp in Blueberry and then cut the words apart.

Add some of the Blueberry Bushel Grosgrain Ribbon to the beginning of Happy and the end of Birthday.  Also add to the biker circle.  The biker and the words are added with dimensionals.

For the inside, stamp the biker again.  I used the Stamperatus again for this.  The saying is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set. Enjoy Life Sahara Sand Birthday Card by Jo Anne Hewins

This is a pretty quick card to make once you have the design.  I also made it without the blue.  Which do you like best?

Apron of Love for Father's Day

Hey!  I'm so glad you are visiting my blog today.  I want to share a card I've made for my husband for Father's Day.  I used the Apron of Love stamp set along with the Apron Builder Framelits.  I think he'll like it.  I'm very fortunate to have such a great husband.  He is a wonderful father and now grandfather.  I know I've mentioned that we have a new granddaughter.  Well, my husband John has not been able to decide what he wants to be called.  He just wanted to wait and let her decide.  But you know we have to call him something.  He has changed his mind several times.  We have now decided on Grammie and Gramps.  We'll see.  Anyway, here is the card.

Apron of Love for Father's Day by Jo Anne Hewins

As many of you, I spend a little time using Pinterest to look up inspiration for cards to make.  I think it was Mary Fish that had a card made up of the little squares from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I like the look of it and decided to use this technique with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.   Here are all the details.

The card base is Blueberry Bushel.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Whisper White and is cut at 3 3/4 x 5.  I picked different sheets from the Wood Textures for the squares.  I wanted it to have a patchwork look.  To place these, I started in the middle of the top.  I also used my grid paper to help me.  I placed the middle of the card on the center line of the grid paper.  I eyeballed the middle of the square and placed it at the grid line.  I hope that makes sense.

At the top of the white and wood layer, I ran a length of the Linen Thread.  The saying is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set stamped in Blueberry Bushel.  Use the Classic Label Punch to punch that out.  I did tie a little knot around the twine.

The apron is cut from the 2018-2020 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.  I am in love with these packs of paper.  I know I'll be buying a lot of it!  Cut out the apron, ties, neck string, and pocket.  Use the Apron Builder Framelits.  Glue all to the front of the card.

The cooking utensils are also part of the Apron Builder Framelits.  Cut them from the Silver Foil Sheets.  Glue so that they are sticking out of the Apron pocket.

The saying inside the card is from the Apron of Love stamp set.  I added a 1/2 inch strip of Wood Textures, left from some other project, and a tiny strip of the Blueberry stripe.  Add a few more of the utensils.

This card is pretty easy to make and I think it's really cute.  You have time to make it before Sunday!

Have a Birthday Beer!

Today, I'm sharing a birthday card I made for my nephew.  I recently bought the stamp set Mixed Drinks for the occasions.  Here's the card.

Mixed Drinks

This is a cute little set.

  • The card base is Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
  • Start by stamping the beer mug randomly over the card in Smoky Slate ink.
  • The washi tape used is from my retired stash.
  • Stamp the mug in Basic Black Memento ink on Whisper White.  I used Crushed Curry to stamp in the beer.  Add the bubbles around the mug in Smoky Slate.  Cut this out using the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Cut a scalloped frame from Basic Black card stock.  Glue together and mount all of its with dimensionals.
  • The thumbs up image is from a free set with got at the On Stage Savannah called Tabs for Everything.  Stamp in black and punch with the 3/4 inch circle punch.  Use a dimensional to adhere to the card.
  • The sentiment is stamped in black and is from Guy Greetings.  To be truthful I messed it up the first time I stamped it.  That's why it's now on another piece of notched paper.  It's what stampers do, right?

I usually have the insides of the card, but this one got mailed before I photographed it.  I stamped the beer mug inside, but I'm not sure of the sentiment used.

Mixed Drinks birthday card

My post is short and sweet today.  This card can go together in minutes.  It's even faster if you don't mess up the sentiment the first time!  Thanks for stopping by today. I love that you did!

Dude Card for #tgifc56

Guy cards are hard for me.  I don't like orange.  My husband loves orange.  He grew up near Knoxville, TN and has fond memories of going to football games at UT.  I decided that the TGIF Challenge was a good opportunity to challenge me.

TGIF MAY 2016 New Challenges-005

For this card I'm featuring Night of Navy and Pumpkin Pie.  In fact, I'm using the orange corrugated paper from the May Paper Pumpkin.  I had left over orange since I used some of the Paper Pumpkin to make a wedding card.  You can see that here.  So here's my card for today.

Guy Greetings full spread

There are lots of layers in this card.  Let me give you the details.

  • The base is Night of Navy card stock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.
  • The first layer is Pumpkin Pie cut at 4 X 5 1/4.
  • Next comes the navy stripe paper.  This is from the Regals Designer Series Paper stack.  This paper is 3 3/4 x 5.
  • The smaller navy rectangle is 3 1/8 x 4 3/8.
  • Finally, the corrugated piece is cut down to 3 x 4 1/4.
  • Using the Hello You Thinlits, I cut the word happy from Night of Navy card stock.  Glue that on to the Pumpkin Pie piece.
  • The Father's Day sentiment is from the May Paper Pumpkin.  It's stamped in navy on Whisper White card stock measuring 3/4 x 2 1/4.
  • Using the stamp set Guy Greetings, stamp the hats in navy on white.  Fussy cut these out and adhere to the card.  I like the hats sitting on the word.

Guy greetings inside

Here's the inside of the card.  I added a row of hats across the top and the bottom. The sentiment is also from Guy Greetings.  One more hat, stamped in Pumpkin Pie, is added to the insert.  I did stamp that on a scrap piece, cut it out, glued it on.

Guy greetings

So the card for my husband for Father's Day is done.  I'm actually a little ahead of time!  Thanks for stopping by today.  Follow me on Pinterest here.  See you next time.

Paper Pumpkin Goes Wedding!

I just love opening my mail box to find a brand new Paper Pumpkin.  It's exciting to see the new stamp set and the color of the ink spot!  Below is a video of the new Paper Pumpkin for May, 2016. Spoiler Alert if you haven't received yours yet.

This kit is great for those masculine cards you might need.  I decided to go in the opposite direction. With the use of some Silver Foil Sheets and the new Love & Affection stamp set, I made a wedding card.

PP wedding full

The Love & Affection set will be in the new Stampin' Up! catalog beginning on June 1st.  Need a catalog?  Contact me.  Here are the details for the card.

  • Using the stamp set Tin of Cards, stamp Happy Wedding in Versamark ink.  Coat with silver embossing powder, and heat with your heat tool.  Don't forget to use your embossing buddy first.
  • Cut a piece of Silver Foil card 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Put a glue dot from the kit in each corner.  Adhere this behind the laser cut out panel.
  • Using Whisper White card stock, stamp two of the larger flowers from Love & Affection and three of the smaller flowers in Versamark, coat in silver embossing powder, and heat.  Use that embossing buddy!  Now stamp the inside of the flowers with Versamark, coat, and heat.
  • Sorry to say, but the flowers have to be cut out by hand.  The embossing actually makes it much easier to cut.
  • Using the Rose Garden thinlits, cut out leaves from Pear Pizzazz card stock.
  • Adhere all of your pieces to the card.  I put dimensionals behind the small flowers.

I love how it turned out.  Masculine turns feminine!

I did make the cards from the kit.  I do need some masculine cards you know.
