Cards-Masculine Birthday

Have a Birthday Beer!

Today, I'm sharing a birthday card I made for my nephew.  I recently bought the stamp set Mixed Drinks for the occasions.  Here's the card.

Mixed Drinks

This is a cute little set.

  • The card base is Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
  • Start by stamping the beer mug randomly over the card in Smoky Slate ink.
  • The washi tape used is from my retired stash.
  • Stamp the mug in Basic Black Memento ink on Whisper White.  I used Crushed Curry to stamp in the beer.  Add the bubbles around the mug in Smoky Slate.  Cut this out using the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Cut a scalloped frame from Basic Black card stock.  Glue together and mount all of its with dimensionals.
  • The thumbs up image is from a free set with got at the On Stage Savannah called Tabs for Everything.  Stamp in black and punch with the 3/4 inch circle punch.  Use a dimensional to adhere to the card.
  • The sentiment is stamped in black and is from Guy Greetings.  To be truthful I messed it up the first time I stamped it.  That's why it's now on another piece of notched paper.  It's what stampers do, right?

I usually have the insides of the card, but this one got mailed before I photographed it.  I stamped the beer mug inside, but I'm not sure of the sentiment used.

My post is short and sweet today.  This card can go together in minutes.  It's even faster if you don't mess up the sentiment the first time!  Thanks for stopping by today. I love that you did!

Dude Card for #tgifc56

Guy cards are hard for me.  I don't like orange.  My husband loves orange.  He grew up near Knoxville, TN and has fond memories of going to football games at UT.  I decided that the TGIF Challenge was a good opportunity to challenge me.

TGIF MAY 2016 New Challenges-005

For this card I'm featuring Night of Navy and Pumpkin Pie.  In fact, I'm using the orange corrugated paper from the May Paper Pumpkin.  I had left over orange since I used some of the Paper Pumpkin to make a wedding card.  You can see that here.  So here's my card for today.

Guy Greetings full spread

There are lots of layers in this card.  Let me give you the details.

  • The base is Night of Navy card stock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.
  • The first layer is Pumpkin Pie cut at 4 X 5 1/4.
  • Next comes the navy stripe paper.  This is from the Regals Designer Series Paper stack.  This paper is 3 3/4 x 5.
  • The smaller navy rectangle is 3 1/8 x 4 3/8.
  • Finally, the corrugated piece is cut down to 3 x 4 1/4.
  • Using the Hello You Thinlits, I cut the word happy from Night of Navy card stock.  Glue that on to the Pumpkin Pie piece.
  • The Father's Day sentiment is from the May Paper Pumpkin.  It's stamped in navy on Whisper White card stock measuring 3/4 x 2 1/4.
  • Using the stamp set Guy Greetings, stamp the hats in navy on white.  Fussy cut these out and adhere to the card.  I like the hats sitting on the word.

Guy greetings inside

Here's the inside of the card.  I added a row of hats across the top and the bottom. The sentiment is also from Guy Greetings.  One more hat, stamped in Pumpkin Pie, is added to the insert.  I did stamp that on a scrap piece, cut it out, glued it on.

Guy greetings

So the card for my husband for Father's Day is done.  I'm actually a little ahead of time!  Thanks for stopping by today.  Follow me on Pinterest here.  See you next time.

Paper Pumpkin Goes Wedding!

I just love opening my mail box to find a brand new Paper Pumpkin.  It's exciting to see the new stamp set and the color of the ink spot!  Below is a video of the new Paper Pumpkin for May, 2016. Spoiler Alert if you haven't received yours yet.

This kit is great for those masculine cards you might need.  I decided to go in the opposite direction. With the use of some Silver Foil Sheets and the new Love & Affection stamp set, I made a wedding card.

PP wedding full

The Love & Affection set will be in the new Stampin' Up! catalog beginning on June 1st.  Need a catalog?  Contact me.  Here are the details for the card.

  • Using the stamp set Tin of Cards, stamp Happy Wedding in Versamark ink.  Coat with silver embossing powder, and heat with your heat tool.  Don't forget to use your embossing buddy first.
  • Cut a piece of Silver Foil card 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Put a glue dot from the kit in each corner.  Adhere this behind the laser cut out panel.
  • Using Whisper White card stock, stamp two of the larger flowers from Love & Affection and three of the smaller flowers in Versamark, coat in silver embossing powder, and heat.  Use that embossing buddy!  Now stamp the inside of the flowers with Versamark, coat, and heat.
  • Sorry to say, but the flowers have to be cut out by hand.  The embossing actually makes it much easier to cut.
  • Using the Rose Garden thinlits, cut out leaves from Pear Pizzazz card stock.
  • Adhere all of your pieces to the card.  I put dimensionals behind the small flowers.

I love how it turned out.  Masculine turns feminine!

I did make the cards from the kit.  I do need some masculine cards you know.

They are so cute and so easy!  Here's the inside of the Father's Day card using the stamp set Guy Greetings.

The Open Sea

Do you ever need to create a card, but alas, you just sit there and stare?  You hope for some divine inspiration.  Sometimes that happens, but not always.  That's when you turn to your annual catalog.  It has ideas and samples galore.  Take a look.  I needed to design cards for a class.  So with Retiring List in hand and the catalog, I ended up on page 84 of the outgoing 2015-2016 catalog.  You know we'll have a new catalog going live June 1, right?  Page 84 has the stamp set The Open Sea.  It's been a staple for several years when you need a masculine card.  It will definitely be missed.  It deserves a place in my May class.  The word CASE in the stamping world means Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Slightly Edit.  That's what I've done here.

By the Tide together

I have two cards here.  One is a little more simple than the other.  I have a regular 5 card class and I also hold a Clean & Simple class.  Thus, the two cards.

By the Tide simple

This card is for the Clean & Simple class.

  • The card base is standard and uses Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • On the base, stamp the worded list in Early Espresso ink and the compass in Bermuda Bay.  Use the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to add spots in Bermuda Bay.
  • Add washi tape to the bottom of the card.  Trim it to fit.  On this card, I used tape from the Cherry on Top and the Sweet L'il Things collections.
  • The banner is from Whisper White cardstock and measures 2 x 4.  Notch the ends using the Triple Banner Punch,  Stamp the ship from The Open Sea in Early Espresso.  The sentiment is from Guy Greetings.  Tape it to the card.
  • Add sequins from the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim.

By the Tide stepped up

To step up this card a bit I cut the word happy out using the Hello You Thinlits in Bermuda Bay.  I used the 2 Way Glue Pen to adhere.  The tag here is a little smaller at 1 1/2 x 4.  Again I used the Triple Banner Punch.  The sentiment is from Crazy About You.  I did use a different yellow washi tape, but I was running a little low on that. That's the only reason for the change.

By the Tide inside

The inside is the same for both cards.  The words are from Guy Greetings.  Subtle changes step up the second card, but they are both pretty!  Is there one you like best?
