Cards- Get Well

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge # 518

Hello!  Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  This week we have a sketch for you.

I chose to used the Pressed Flowers stamp set.  It's a Host set located on page 227 of the annual catalog.  I am loving this set.  Here is my card.

CCMC #518 Pressed Flowers by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Granny Apple Green that is cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp over it with the small leaf and flower that are part of the Pressed Flowers stamp set.

The first layer of Designer Series Paper is Poppy Parade.  It comes from the Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper stack.  This layer measures 3 x 4 1/2.  The next layer is Granny Apple Green and is from the same Brights pack.  It is cut at 2 x 4.

Run a length of the Black Cord around the card before adding the next layer.

The Whisper White layer is 2 1/2 x 3 1/2.  For this layer stamp the flowers from Pressed Flowers.  I inked them with the Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Write Markers.  They are again from the Brights family.  Just color directly on the stamps.  Reink and stamp again.  Once I had all the flowers I went back and stamped the leaf stem.  Stamp off each time and stamp to fill in the spaces.

I used the Stamparatus to stamp the Memento Black sentiment.  It comes from the Healing Hugs stamp set.  I wanted to be able to stamp several times to make sure the words would be visible.

Add this layer with dimensionals.

Tie a bow with the Black Cord and attach with a Glue Dot.

The words on the inside of the card are also from Healing Hugs.  Just add more flowers.

Healing Hugs and the Delightfully Detailed Memories & More Card Pack

WINNER OF BLOG CANDY FOR 500 BLOG POSTS:  MARCIA ENNS!  CONGRATS!  Thanks to all of you for such kind comments!

I have to say that the Memories & More Card Packs are usually low on my list.  Sometimes, you just need a little nudging.  My upline, Patty Bennett, lets us participate in Prize Patrols.  This month is a tic tac toe.  One of the squares is to make a card using the Memories & More Card Pack.  I actually tried to borrow a card from some of my team, but no luck.  So I ordered them.  Wow!  I really love them!  The possibilities for making easy cards are endless!  Here's my card for today.

Card Made Using the Delightfully Detailed Memories & More Card Pack by Jo Anne Hewins

The pattern on this card had me immediately.  I think it made me think of my younger days.  Doesn't it look like a throwback to you?  You know, I am not an orange person, but I have used so much of this Grapefruit Grove color.    I just don't know what's gotten into me.  Well, I do love this card.

The card base is Grapefruit Grove measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Basic Black layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  The Memories & More card is trimmed to 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  Save the long strip.  I added it to the inside.  Before attaching the layers run a length of Black Satin Ribbon across the center.

Stamp the flower from Healing Hugs on Whisper White using Grapefruit Grove ink.  The leaves are stamped in Call Me Clover.  Use your snips to cut these out.

The Stitched Shapes Framelits were used to cut a black circle just a little bigger than the flower.  Attach this circle with dimensionals.  Glue down the flower and leaves.  I did put a dimensional toward the end of the leaves where they extend outside the circle.

Add two little banners of the Satin Ribbon.

The sentiment is from the Healing Hugs stamp set.  Use the Triple Banner Punch to notch the end.

For the inside of the card simply stamp the flowers and leaves again in the upper center of the card.  Stamp the sentiment in Memento Black over the flower.  See how I added that little left over strip?  Why waste it?

So there you go.  Easy to make!  I will be using more of these cards to make more cards!  Does that make sense?  There are several packs of these cards.  I'll list them in the products below.

Thanks for joining me today.  I do appreciate it!  Would you follow me on Pinterest?  Do it here.

Have a Birthday Beer!

Today, I'm sharing a birthday card I made for my nephew.  I recently bought the stamp set Mixed Drinks for the occasions.  Here's the card.

Mixed Drinks

This is a cute little set.

  • The card base is Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
  • Start by stamping the beer mug randomly over the card in Smoky Slate ink.
  • The washi tape used is from my retired stash.
  • Stamp the mug in Basic Black Memento ink on Whisper White.  I used Crushed Curry to stamp in the beer.  Add the bubbles around the mug in Smoky Slate.  Cut this out using the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Cut a scalloped frame from Basic Black card stock.  Glue together and mount all of its with dimensionals.
  • The thumbs up image is from a free set with got at the On Stage Savannah called Tabs for Everything.  Stamp in black and punch with the 3/4 inch circle punch.  Use a dimensional to adhere to the card.
  • The sentiment is stamped in black and is from Guy Greetings.  To be truthful I messed it up the first time I stamped it.  That's why it's now on another piece of notched paper.  It's what stampers do, right?

I usually have the insides of the card, but this one got mailed before I photographed it.  I stamped the beer mug inside, but I'm not sure of the sentiment used.

Mixed Drinks birthday card

My post is short and sweet today.  This card can go together in minutes.  It's even faster if you don't mess up the sentiment the first time!  Thanks for stopping by today. I love that you did!

Are You All Fixed Up? with Nailed It

The Nailed It stamp set and the Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper are perfect for each other!  Add in the Build It Framelit Dies and you can't lose. That's what I did with today's card.  We made this card in class last time, but I did change up the sentiment.  Sometimes it's hard to think of a get well card for a guy. This one works well.  Works.  There might be a little pun there.

Nailed It Get Well

  • Start with a card base of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4, and fold.
  • Cut two pieces of Urban Underground pattered paper at 2 1/2 x 3 1/2.  Use different patterns and adhere at each end meeting in the middle.
  • The ruler across the middle of the card is on a 1/2 inch wide Silver Foil Sheet.  The die is in the Build It Framelits Dies.  Trim to fit on the card.
  • The Stitched Shapes Framelits were used to make the Very Vanilla oval.  I think I must use these framelits on every card I make!
  • Stamp in Delightful Dijon using the Playful Backgrounds stamp.  Stamp some nails and screws around the outer areas.  I used Basic Black Archival Ink.
  • For the saw, piece together silver foil and Delightful Dijon.  Just stamp in archival black on each and cut out with the coordinating die.  Trim the dijon and glue it to the foil.
  • Cut one of the Lace Doilies in half.  Sponge it black and adhere it to the back of the oval.  Glue it all to the lower right hand side of the card.

  • Add some additional screws and a bolt cut in silver foil.
  • For the sentiment use the stamp set Labeler Alphabet.  This is the first time I think I have used this set.  It was fun.  I will be using it again.  It's a great way to say anything you wish.  I stamped on vanilla and just cut out each word.

Nailed 3

Here's the inside of the card.  It's stamped using Playful Backgrounds and Nailed It.

Nailed 2

I think this is a great card.  I'm especially happy to have discovered the usefulness of the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.  It was a jewel in hiding!

Helping Me Grow Get Well and #GDP039

Today I'm up for another challenge with the Global Design Project #039.  This week it's get well cards.

Sadly we do need get well cards from time to time.  A hand made card is sure to lift someone's spirits. This is the card I made for the challenge.

Helping Me Grow

I find that many times I when I need something like a get well card, I don't have one. I also seem to have very little time to create one.  The card today started as a thank you card.  I made it for a Clean & Simple class I had last week.  Here's what it looked like before it went through it's make over this morning.

June 2016 clean

It was part of this class.  Here's how I made it.

  • Use a card base of Basic Black card stock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.
  • The diagonal stripe patterned paper is from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper stack.  I used a black sheet cut at 4 x 5 1/4.
  • The Whisper White card stock layer is cut at 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.
  • The flowers are from the Helping Me Grow set.  They are stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.  The little dots are also part of the set.
  • The sentiment is from the Love & Affection set.  I stamped it with the Basic Black Archival ink also on a scrap piece of white.  I punched it out with the XL Oval punch.  It's retired now.  My Layering Ovals framelits are crossing the US as I type.  Here's where part of the make over takes place.  I had already stamped Much Appreciated. The new sentiment went right on top.
  • I also decided to color in the flowers.  I used Rich Razzleberry and my Aqua Painters.  The stems were colored in Wild Wasabi.
  • I stamped just a little piece of the flower on scrap, colored it, and cut it out.  That went on the oval with the sentiment.  I added a few of the black sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment.  Adhere those with glue dots.

Helping Me Grow inside

And here is the inside of the card.  Once again, I colored the flowers.  The sentiment inside is from the stamp set Thoughts & Prayers.  I just used the bottom of the stamp.  I stamped it with Basic Black Archival and then taped over the part I didn't want to stamp.  Since this card was a make over, I stamped this on scrap paper again and adhered over the old words.
