Cards - Birthday

Swirly Frames with Oh, So Eclectic

When you attend one of the Stampin' Up! On Stage events, you also win something from Prize Patrol.  I won the stamp set Swirly Frames in Atlanta.  I'll admit that I wasn't that excited.  I do think this set will turn out to be one of my favorite go to sets.  I used the set to make the background circles on this card.

Swirly Frames and Oh So Eclectic by Jo Anne Hewins

It might not show up so much in this photo.  I used the new Balmy Blue for the large circles and the new Soft Sea Foam for the smaller circles.  Stamp off both colors first.

The card base is Balmy Blue measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Stamp the circles along the edges of the base.  This will add interest to the card.  I did stamp off for this.

The Soft Sea Foam layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  This Whisper White layer is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.

Build the flowers from the Oh, So Eclectic bundle in the center of one of the blue stamped circles.  Stamp the leaves in Soft Sea Foam on the same color and cut out.  For the full flower and the bud, you will need to cut out the detailed part and the outline part of the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.  For the detailed part, place the outline around the detail and cut out together.  Cut another outline part.  For the bud, cut the stem part again from Soft Sea Foam.  Cut out three of the tiny stems in Soft Sea Foam.  Arrange all in a pleasing way.  The large flower is on dimensionals.

The saying is from the stamp set Detailed with Love.  I used the Stamperatus to say the words.  It makes it so much easier to get the words in the right place.

The inside of the card has more circles.  It's easier to see in this photo.  The saying is also from the Detailed with Love stamp set.

Ode to Bird Banter!

Products come and go.  It's the nature of the game.  There's nothing better than having new stuff to play with.  But there are those few sets that tug at your heart.  Bird Banter is my tug.  I love those birds!  So I wanted to use it for a blog post one more time.  I did sneak in a little of the new.

Bird Banter ode by Jo Anne Hewins

My card base is Mossy Meadow cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Mossy Meadow is coming back!  Exciting!

The Pear Pizzazz layer measures 3 3/4 x 5.  Stamp randomly in Mossy Meadow the little leaves from the Bird Banter set.

Take one of the Pearlized Doilies and cut off 1/3 of it.  Color the back of it with Mossy Meadow.  I ended up just laying the doily down on the pad and pressing to get great color.  It was messy.  If you do it this way, washing hands is a must when done!  Hint:  the pearlized size does not take color.  Wipe it off or you'll mess up your project!

The patterned paper is new from the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It's 1 1/4 x 3 3/4.

Add a branch in Early Espresso using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

The Mossy Meadow leaves are cut using the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.  I used three of them.  The extra at the lower right are covering a smudge.  I'm pointing this out because that's what stampers do.  We fix our mistakes if we can!

The birds are stamped in Memento Black and colored with Blends.  I used Light and Dark Daffodil Delight, Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie, and Light Old Olive.  Fussy cut and attach to the card with dimensionals.

Stamp the sentiment in Mossy Meadow and trim around it.  It's also attached with dimensionals.

For the inside, add a sentiment from the Bird Banter set and another bird down in the corner.

This is the perfect friend card.  I just love the saying about sharing your branch with someone.  Wouldn't you like to get this card?

Gotta Love the Large Number Framelits

I must say that I was in shock when I saw the Large Number Framelits on the Last Chance list.  Moan!  So I decided that I must use them one last time.  I'll just be honest, these framelits will remain in my collection.  They are so useful.  You really don't want to miss out!  Here is the card I made.

Large Numbers Framelits and Tutti Frutti by Jo Anne Hewins

I like how this card turned out!  I used the Tutti Frutti Designer Series Paper stack.  This paper is near to my heart.  I'm sad that it is also going away.

The card base is Thick Whipser White measuring 4 1/4 x 11.  Score this at 5 1/2 and use your Bone Folder to burnish the fold.  Use the black and white stripe paper to cover the entire front of the card.  Cut the paper 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

Pick out the pieces of patterned paper you want to use and cut out the numbers using the Large Numbers Framelits and the Big Shot.  I used the numbers 0 through 8.  Glue these to your card in any way that you please.  I chose to use no real order and to hang a few off the sides of the card.  Just turn the card over and trim those pieces sticking out right off.

I used the Labeler Alphabet stamp set to make my greeting for the front of the card.  I wanted this to be a birthday card and decided this would be perfect for most any adult, especially my friends.  Sorry, friends!  Stamp the words and then trim around them.  Attach with dimensionals.

Here's the inside of the card.  I used the Stlyized Birthday stamp.  It's also going away!  Punch a large balloon with the Balloon Bouquet punch from more of the Tutti Frutti paper and add an Linen Thread string.  I used a 1/2 inch piece of the striped paper along the bottom.  It was left over from something.  Why not use it!

This is a great card to use up some of those scraps.  Maybe you don't keep all of the itty bitties like me.  It's so hard to throw them away.

The Large Numbers Framelits do coordinate with the Large Letters Framelits.  If you have the letters, you certainly need the numbers!  Check out the Last Chance list here.

Petal Passion Designer Series Paper is Retiring

This week I am going to focus on some of the products that will be retiring May 31st.  Some products will be gone before the end of May since they are "while supplies last."  It's so exciting to think about new products coming, but still it's a little sad to say goodbye to some old friends.  Today my card features the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and the stamp set Watercolor Words.  Both will be going away.

Petal Passion DSP and Watercolor Words by Jo Anne Hewins

When I started this card, it was to be a study in black and white.  You can see that's not what happened.  Out came my blends and I just could not stop.  I had not colored this particular piece of the Petal Passion paper.  It just looked like too much work.  This was so easy!  The paper is already shaded.  I just colored with a color and not really blending.  I think it looks great.  The colors used are Dark Daffodil Delight, Light Calypso Coral, Dark Pool Party, Dark Pink Pirouette (retiring), and Light Old Olive.

The card base is Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score at 4 1/4.  Burnish the fold with your bone folder.

Cover the front of the base with the Petal Passion designer paper.  Cut it at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2..

Once colored, stamp the words on a piece of Whisper White in Memento Black ink.  Use the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut this out and attach to the middle of the card with dimensionals.

Petal Passion card with Watercolor Words stamp set by Jo Anne Hewins

I told you that I just couldn't stop coloring, didn't I?  I colored more flowers and leaves from more paper.  Snip these out and decorate the outside of the oval.  Glue the pieces that are over the oval and use dimensionals on the parts that hang off the side.  So pretty!

Petal Passion card inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Maybe you never make a mistake.  Can you tell what I did with this card.  Of course you spotted it.  I did mess up stamping the sentiment inside.  I just stamped on Whisper White and cut it out with the Layering Circles Framelits.  I love the font used with the Watercolor Words stamp set.  Color and add more flowers for the inside.

Petal Passion and Watercolor Words card by Jo Anne Hewins

The dimension doesn't show very well in the pictures.  This card is so beautiful in person!  There's nothing better than a beautiful black and white designer paper.  I'm not sure how Stampin' Up! can top this!

Thank you so much for taking a look at my project today.  I am truly honored.

If you need supplies, I would be happy to help you out.  Take a look at the list below.  Did you notice that you can subscribe to my weekly newsletter at the top of the post?

Color Fusers Blog Hop for April 2018

Welcome back to our Color Fusers Blog Hop!   For April we are using the colors Melon Mambo, So Saffron, and Tempting Turquoise.  Can you say spring?  You may have just come from Barb's blog.  She always has great ideas!

No automatic alt text available.

I used the Support Ribbon Framelits for my project today.  It's part of the Ribbon of Courage bundle found on page 96-97 of the annual catalog.

Support Ribbon Framelits for Color Fusers by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Melon Mambo 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score this at 4 1/4 and fold.

The So Saffron layer is 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  The Tempting Turquoise layer is 4 x 5 1/4.  I like the look of thin lines for this card.

I used the Perennial Birthday stamp set for this card.  I absolutely love the font of the Happy Birthday!  The dots are also from this stamp set.  I used the Tuxedo Memento Black ink pad for this.

The Basic Black layer is 1 5/8 x 5 1/4.  This just happened to be a scrap that I had and it worked perfectly. Yes, I used a scrap!  I like to adhere the two end flowers first and then the middle one so that it is centered.  Place the centers in each flower mixing up the colors.

For the inside of the card, the Perennial Birthday set is used again for the saying and the dots.

Add another flower.

This card is quick and easy to make.  It would certainly brighten someone's birthday.  Using these bright colors together is a little out of my comfort zone.  That's why I love these challenges.

Next up is Beverlee.  I know you'll want to see her project using this color combination!
