Cards - Birthday

Picture Perfect Birthday Using Some Free Stuff!

I had to get together materials for a shoebox swap.  What's that, you ask.  Make a card.  Get the supplies to make the card together.  Cut all the pieces so that the card could be assembled in about 10 minutes.  Make packets for each participant so that they can be picked up and ready to go.  It's really like I do for a class.  Everything is ready except a little stamping.  Anything that would need a thinlit and the Big Shot is cut in advance.  Any embossing folder need is done in advance.  My group had 10 people in it, so I'll go home with 10 different cards.  I only had to plan one of them.  It's a win win!  Here is my card.

Picture Perfect Birthday

Begin with a card base of Thick Whisper White.  It  is cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score and fold at 4 1/4.

Stamp over the card (mostly far left and the right third) in the lines stamp from Picture Perfect Birthday in Lemon Lime Twist.

The designer paper is a FREE choice from the Sale-a-Bration Brochure.  Spend $50 during this time and get a free choice!  This paper is called Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper.  The calypso piece is cut at 1 x 5 1/2, the daffodil piece measures 3/4 x 5 1/2, and the lime paper is cut at 1 x 5 1/2.  Butt these up next to each other as you adhere.  I'm not too excited about the bottles and caps on this paper, but it's double sided and there are lots of great choices!

Use the Layering Squares Framelits Dies to cut the Basic Black scallop square and a Whisper White square.

Using the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set, stamp the candles using Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, and Lemon Lime Twist.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.  Stamp it in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Use dimensionals to attach to the card.

The blower is stamped on scrap white using the same stamp set.  You'll have to fussy cut this and then use dimensionals to attach it, too.

Picture Perfect Birthday closeup

This is a quick card to make and very bright.  Who wouldn't love it!

Picture Perfect Birthday card

For the inside, I would suggest that you stamp more of the Lemon Lime Twist lines all over.  Add any of the sentiments from this set.  There is some good ones!

As I'm writing this, the swap hasn't happened yet.  When you read this all the cards will be made.  I'm excited to attend this event!

My Product List is below.  As always, I would appreciate your business.  Let me know if there is any way I can help you!

Sweet Little Something Bunny Swap

I think I've mentioned that I'm going to be a grandmother.  I have waited a long time for this!  When I saw that cute little bunny in the Occasions catalog, I knew I had to have it.  I think knowing that the Stamperatus was coming also helped with that decision.  I decided to put that tool to work and make some swap cards for a NC Demo meeting coming up.  Here's my card.

Sweet Little Something

The bunny does look real, but I'm not going to lie to you.  It was very hard to line up all the pieces on the Stamperatus.  I used all four of the working sides of the tool.  The Happy Birthday on one and then the three pieces of the bunny on the others.  I would suggest that you use scrap paper when you are working all this out.  I used junk mail that I was throwing out.  It doesn't matter if there is writing on it.  You are going to throw it away!  The miracle is that once lined up, you can crank these images out!  I made 24 cards!

Start with a card base of Thick Whisper White.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score this at 4 1/4.  You need that score line with the thick cardstock to make it all fold nicely.  Don't forget the Bone Folder to make it crisp.

There is something about Night of Navy and Lemon Lime Twist together.  It makes my heart sing.  Really!  The navy layer is 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  The twist layer is 3 3/4 x 5.

Stamp on the Lemon Lime Twist layer in the same color.  It's called hinge stamping when you use the Stamperatus.  Line the words up so that they are in the center of the first two hinges.  Stamp.  If the image is not dark enough just ink and stamp again.  It lines up perfectly!  Lift the plastic plate straight up, pull out, and then put it down a hinge.  Stamp.  Repeat.  I was able to get the words on there 5 times.  This Happy Birthday stamp is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set.  It's in the Occasions catalog, too.

Stamp the bunny on Whisper White.  I used Crumb Cake for the most solid layer, Soft Suede for the next most solid, and Early Espresso for the most detailed layer.  Fussy cut the bunny.  This is an easy cut.  There are not any detailed lines.  Add the bunny with dimensionals.  The bow is made using about 3 inches of the Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon.  Tie in the middle with Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine.  Angle the ends.  I trimmed the twine as close as I could and then used a glue dot to hide those ends behind and attach the bow.  This is a great way to use ribbon for a lot of swaps.  There wasn't a lot of ribbon left on my roll and I didn't want to wait for an order.  I think it looks perfect on this bunny!

The sentiment is from the Sweet Little Bunny stamp set.  Stamp in Night of Navy on a scrap and punch with the Classic Label Punch.  This is also on dimensionals.

Sweet Little Bunny close up

Use the Tutti Frutti 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Stack for the balloon.  Punch with the Balloon Bouquet Punch.  I used the smaller one.  Use a dimensional to attach the white twine to the back of the balloon.  Use a glue dot to attach the twine behind the bunny paw.

Sweet Little Bunny card

For the inside of this card, I used a sentiment from the Perennial Birthday set stamped in Night of Navy.  The balloon is from the stamp set Bird Banter.  Use the Tutti Frutti designer paper for the balloon.

Sweet Little Something inside

He really is a sweet bunny once you get him all lined up.  By the way, our sweet little girl is due at the end of April.  My daughter is doing great!

I was one of the lucky ones on the L2L team that got to order a Stamperatus early.  You will love it.  Having 4 different plates available is heaven!  I hope you reserved one.  If not, this tool will be in the next annual catalog!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I so appreciate it.  Don't forget the supply list below.

Bamboo Party Pandas

I am so excited about my card today.  It has been rambling around in my head for a week now.  I just kept thinking that the Color Theory paint chip looking paper would be perfect to make bamboo.  It's from the annual catalog Color Theory 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Stack.  Well, let me show you my card!

Bamboo Party Pandas

I love how it turned out!  Don't you just love it when an idea actually works!  Here's how I made it.

The card base is Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.  I've said it before, but you really must score this thick paper.  It folds so much easier and cleaner!

Cut the paint chip paper in 1/4 inch strips.  I used 5 on the front and one more inside the card.

The leaves were the best I could find for the bamboo leaves.  It's not perfect, but it works.  They are from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies.  I think I cut about 10 or so from Old Olive card stock.  I added them to the back of the strips with glue dots.

Stamp the pandas with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I stamped all three of them.  There's also one on the inside.  I used the one with the hat.  I did use my new Stamperatus for the pandas.  It allows you to ink and stamp over and over again to get that solid dark image.  I love it!  Fussy cut the pandas.  I did not use the balloon that one panda is holding.  By the way the Party Pandas stamp set is one of the free Sale-a-Bration picks with a $50 purchase.  Free is a wonderful word!

I laid out the strips and the pandas and figured out where I wanted them.  I then added the leaves where I thought they were needed.  Finally I started from the right and glued down as I went left.

I colored the circles on the hat and the heart with the Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker.

The sentiment is also from Party Pandas and is stamped on white scrap in Melon Mambo.  Trim closely.  The sentiment is added with dimensionals.

Bamboo Party Pandas inside

Here is the inside of the card.  The sentiment here is from the stamp set Picture Perfect Birthday in the Occasions catalog.

Bamboo Party Pandas card

I hope you will try this card.  I had a lot of fun making it.  I know these pandas are going to be very popular.  Remember they can be yours free with a $50 purchase!

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #491 Celebrate You

The Occasions catalog and the Sale-a-Bration brochure are in full swing!  It's an exciting time for Stampin' Up!  The challenge for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge is a color one.  We are using Bermuda Bay, Berry Burst, and Peek-a-boo Peach.

My card today has lots of new items in it.  Some are in the Occasions catalog and some are free with purchase.  Just choose what you want from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.

We have designer papers that are perfect for this challenge.  So that's the direction I decided to follow.  Let me tell you how to make this card.

Start with a card base of Thick Whisper White.  Mine measures 4 1/4 x 11 and is scored and folded at 5 1/2.  You can easily use the 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 measurement.

The Berry Burst and the Peek-a-boo Peach papers come from the Tutti Frutti 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Stack in the Occasions catalog.  The Bermuda Bay paper is from the Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper.  It is one of the free picks from Sale-a-Bration with a $50 order.  These papers measure 1 1/2 x 6.  Glue down the top and the bottom papers first.  Add the middle one so that it angles just enough to cover the white background.  Trim the edges to fit the base.

The words are cut from more of the designer paper.  The amazing is cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  These words are from a free Sale-a-Bration pick called Celebrate You Thinlits Dies.  This year Sale-a-Bration is shaking things up a bit.  We've always had free choices for a $50 purchase.  But this year if you want to step things up a bit, you have a few choices for a $100 purchase.  These thinlits dies are part of this.  Stampin' Up! has also told us that these dies will be in the next annual catalog!  Of course you can still pick 2 items for your $100 purchase if you wish!  When attaching these words make sure that you get them straight.  It's hard with that one piece angled on there.

CCMC491 close up

Now for the balloons.  They comes from the Bird Banter stamp set in the Occasions catalog.  Stamp the strings right on the card in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Then stamp the balloons on the designer paper and cut them out.  Adhere with dimensionals.

Now you might have noticed that I have an ink mark near that top balloon.  Does that ever happen to you?  Of course.  I left the block with the balloon lying there.  You would think I would know better.  I don't have any yet, on order, but I think that the Tutti Frutti Adhesive-Backed Sequins in the Berry Burst would have been good to hide my mistake.  Just add one over the mark and two more on the card wherever you want.  That would probably look great without the mistake.

CCMC #491 Celebrate You card

You might have noticed that I don't use the brighter colors as often.  I did end up loving these colors together.  That's what is so great about a challenge.  It forces you to go outside of your box.  See what you can do with these colors!

Thanks for adding me to your day today.  It's so nice to know that my blog is being read.  You don't want to miss all the Sale-a-Bration excitement.  If you don't have a demonstrator, let me know if you need catalogs.  I'll be happy to send them to you!

You are sure to see lots of great ideas for new product on this hop.  I'm so glad you are here.  So, here is my card.

Party Pandas Birthday card

There is so much new stuff on this card.  Let me get right to the details.

Start with a card base of Bermuda Bay cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.

The layer of Lemon Lime Twist is 3 3/4 x 5.

The next layer is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  This paper comes from the Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.  During Sale-a-Bration you can choose a free item from the brochure for every $50 you spend.

I began with a frame cut from the Layering Square Framelits.  This paper is from the Tutti Frutti 6 x 6 Paper Stack.  It's in the Occasions catalog.  Adhere to the card with Foam Adhesive Strips.

The panda is from the Sale-a-Bration set Party Pandas.  It's fantastic!  I will tell you that I was one of the fortunate L2L Team members that got to order the Stamperatus early.  I used it to stamp the panda with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  It's often hard to get a good stamped image with solid areas on stamps.  I did stamp this several times so it is perfect.  Fussy cut the panda.  I colored in the dots on the birthday hat with my Bermuda Bay Stampin' Write Marker (Brights).  I wanted the panda the same height at the frame, so he is also on Foam Adhesive Strips.

Do you see the birthday blowers?  Right now I just can't think of what they are called.  These are from an new Occasions set called Picture Perfect Birthday.  You have 3 stamps to get this.  You will have to fussy cut.  They are just so cute!  These are also on the foam strips.  I used Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, and Lemon Lime Twist.

The celebrate is from a Sale-a-Bration stamp set called Amazing You.  It's stamped in Melon Mambo and trimmed close.

The work YOU is from a new thinlit Sale-a-Bration die.  It's called the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies.  Yes, I said Sale-a-Bration.  This year you can get a couple of items that are a little more complex by spending $100.  This thinlit set is one of them.  It's also going to be in the Annual catalog in June!

So you see, this card is filled to overflowing with new stuff!

Party Pandas birthday inside

Here is the inside of the card.  There is another adorable panda.  The sentiment is from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set.

Party Panda Birthday 2

This card was so much fun to make.  There are a lot of steps, but it's so worth it.  I think anyone would love this birthday card.
