Cards Baby

Sweet Little Something for a Sweet Little Baby

You might know that I'm expecting my first grandchild soon.  Little Sagan Hewins Raeford is due on April 27th.  The showers have begun!  We had one this past Sunday and I am getting so excited!  I've waited a long time for this!

Of course my daughter Jessie wants handmade Thank You notes, and of course I am more than willing to make them.  We chose to use that cute little bunny from Stampin' Up!'s Sweet Little Bunny stamp set.

Sweet Little Something thank you

Here is our card.  We are using the Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes.  I've said it before.  These are one of the best bargains in the catalog.  You get 20 cards and envelopes for $6 in the USA.  Grays seemed like the logical choice since Sagan's nursery is painted a light gray.

For me, the Stamperatus is a must for this bunny.  It's a three stamp process, but they must be matched exactly.  I would use scrap paper for stamping until you get everything placed correctly.  But after you get it placed, it's a snap to stamp them quickly.  It does not matter which order you stamp them, but I do think it's easier to start with the darkest when trying to place them on the Stamperatus.  I used Smoky Slate for the largest plain stamp, Basic Gray for the next one with some detail, and Memento Black for the most detailed and smallest stamp.  I did stamp the black two times, but maybe that was my pad.

The words for the front of the card are from the All Things Thanks stamp set. Stamp in Basic Gray.  I also set this up on the Stamperatus.  I used all four plates for this card!

The bow is from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits.  I used Powder Pink.  For most of the cards I trimed the ends of the bow a little and added it to her hair.  The little heart is punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.

I made about 50 of these.  I think they are so cute.

After going to the time to set up the bunny, I just couldn't stop.  Here's the card I made for her gift.

Sweet Little Something gift card by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 z 8 1/2 and scored and folded at 4 1/4.

I used the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack.  Cut a piece of the Powder Pink 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Cover the front of the card.

Using the Stamperatus stamp the New Baby from the Milestone Moments stamp set in Basic Gray.  This is called Hinge Stamping.

The bunny was stamped on Whisper White card stock and cut out with snips.  Adhere with dimensionals.  Add a Powder Pink bow from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits.

Using the Balloon Bouquet Punch, punch the largest balloon.  Stamp Hello Baby with the Moon Baby stamp set in Basic Gray.  Attach with dimensionals.  The twine I used is retired Basic Gray.

My daughter Jessie and son in law Robby are expecting their first baby at the end of April.  God is good.  You see, it's been a long hard road for them.  They have wanted this little blessing for a long time.  Things just didn't work out.  I don't think we can understand that deep aching and wanting and disappointment unless we've gone through it ourselves.  What wonderful parents they will make.  And I'm just going to tell you that John and I will be wonderful grandparents.  It's our first, too!  So when I found out that the test was a yes, I sat down and had a long joyful cry and I made her this card.  Stamping is therapeutic, you know.

Jessie and Robby

So you are thinking, what?  But you see our baby is coming with a little help of science and what a miracle it is!  So many lives will be blessed by this little one.  And I have something that not many people have.  I have a picture of my grandchild as an egg ready to be implanted in its mom.

Baby egg close up

Of course we've been praying for this baby and its mom and dad.  So far things are going well.  We've had great reports from the doctor.  I ask for your prayers, too.  We are so blessed.

Robby and Jessie baby

I made this card in gender neutral color.  I chose colors I thought Jessie would like.  The petri dish is made is made from the coffee cup lid from Coffee Cafe.  The egg is the flower center from Daisy Delight.  The Labeler Alphabet was used for the lettering.

In the background I put lots of sentiments from various current stamp sets.  Some of the sets are Guy Greetings, Lovely Friends, Milestone Moments, and Labels to Love.

Colors used were Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party, Smoky Slate, Fresh Fig, and Blushing Bride.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #459 and Baby Bear

Thursday again!  And so we have the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #459.  This week we had a sketch to follow.

As soon as I saw the doily in the sketch, I knew I had to use the new Eastern medallion framelits.  Here is my card.

CCMC#459 Baby Bear

Just to be honest, this is the first card I've made with the Baby Bear stamp set.  I've had it a long time, but I just couldn't make the layers match.  It's a triple stamp set. Then recently Connie Stewart had a blog post about using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig with this stamp set. Duh!  It has opened a whole new world for me.  I will use this stamp set!  Thanks, Connie.

I have another reason to use Baby Bear.  My niece Alison told us all at Easter that she is expecting her first in October.  I wanted to send a congrats card to Alison and DJ. can you tell it's going to be a boy!

Here are the details of the card.

  • The card base is Thick Whisper White cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
  • The Dapper Denim layer measures 3 1/8 x 4 3/8.
  • The patterned paper is the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack.  One side has a crackle effect.  That's what I used and it's cut at 3 x 4 1/4.
  • The doily is cut from the same patterned paper pack.  It's a contrasting piece of crackle paper.  I used the Eastern Medallion Thinlits Dies.  I cut this using 3 of the dies one inside the other.
  • The banner is from the same paper pack.  This piece has an ombre effect.  It measures 7/8 x 5 1/4.  Notch the end.
  • The bear is stamped on Whisper White.  First use Crumb Cake for the most solid stamp.  Then use Soft Suede for the middle layer.  Finally use Early Espresso for the last layer.  It's the one that is the least solid.  As I said, use the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for this.  You will have to fussy cut the bear.
  • Use Dapper Denim for the bow.  Stamp off for the solid image.  For the more detailed image use the color as is.  Again, I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  Fussy cut the bow, too.  Adhere with a dimensional.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Dapper Denim on Whisper White.  Cut it out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Adhere with dimensionals.

Baby Bear 1

The sentiment on the inside is from Sunshine Sayings and the image is from Moon Baby.

Now, I need to address and mail this card.  I'm excited to become a great aunt again!  (My sister's first grandchild!)

Now that you know how to stamp this bear easily, you are going to want it.  Check out the product list below.  Click to go to my store.

Oh What Fun... To Make a Baby Card!

I don't get to make a baby card very often.  Today was the day!  Since I bought a gift card (I don't know anything about baby things anymore, apparently!), I wanted to make special packaging.  This baby has been long awaited.  She is coming into a house full of love and overjoyed parents.  She is special!  Here's what I made.

Baby 6

I used the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to make a bag using the Sweet L'il Things Designer Series Paper.   Now to decorate the bag.  The baby's nursery will be aqua and gray so I wanted to use those colors. The lamb is from the new Occasions catalog coming on January 5th.  I painted the lamb using an aqua painter and  the Smoky Slate and Blushing Bride ink pads.  Push down on the lid before you open the pad and you'll have ink there in the lid to use with the aqua painter.  I finished off the lamb with the Blushing Bride bow thinlit also from the Mini Treat Bag dies.  Fussy cut around the lamb and adhere using dimensionals.  The star was made from Sweet L'il Things designer paper and the Star Framelits.  The "For You"  is from the Mini Treat Bag dies.  Did you notice the Venetian Crochet Trim?  It goes around the bag and then the star is adhered on top with dimensionals.  A mini metallic clothespin finishes out the look.  The sentiment is from a retired set called Cuddles & Kisses.  It was perfect!

Baby 1

I used the envelope punch board to make an envelope to place inside my bag for the gift card.  Still using the Sweet L'il Things designer paper I made an envelope measuring 3 X 4.  It took only a 6 X 6 piece of paper.

Baby 4To decorate that I used a background of Blushing Bride cut at 2 5/8 X 3 5/8.  The Very Vanilla cardstock is cut to 2 1/2 X 3 1/2.  The sentiment here is also from Cuddles & Kisses.  Near the bottom I stamped the lamb again.  This time I only colored in the legs, face, and ears.  The Medium Star Punch was used for the star and again I used the Venetian Lace Trim.  The trim was adhered using the handheld stapler.

Baby 2

So again, here is my bag and the envelope.

Baby 6And the finished gift ready for giving!

Baby 7

The grass is Easter grass purchased from the Dollar Tree last year, but it matches perfectly.  Thanks for reading!
