Some people are just worth a little extra effort. My husband, John, just celebrated a birthday. Of course I had to make a special card just for him. We recently went on a vacation to Alaska so I made him a card remembering our trip. We had so much fun! Here is John's card.
This was a view from the balcony of the cruise ship.
The card base is Basic Gray card stock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.
The Whisper White layer is 4 x 5 1/4. The next layer is Pool Party measuring 3 3/4 x 5. This layer becomes the sky and the ocean.
For this card, start at the top and work down. The mountains are Basic Gray. They started out as a 45 degree angle (corner of paper) and rounded off. Sponge around the mountains with Basic Gray ink to make them stand out a little more from the sky. Add Embossing Paste to make the snow on the mountains.
The trees are made using the Card Front Builder Thinlit Dies that coordinate with the Carols of Christmas. Just as for the mountains, start at the left and work toward the right of the card. Cut bunches of the double trees and the single trees from Garden Green card stock. Sponge around these in Garden Green, too. We want the trees to stand out a little from each other. Place these where you please making sure to make a nice shore line with the trees and making sure that the mountains are covered along their unsightly bottoms. A few trees were trimmed to fit an area. I'll even tell you that I used some scraps from cutting out the trees that looked tree like. I don't know if you can see that there are a few white dots here and there in the trees. Those are eagles! John kept looking for white dots and using binoculars said they were eagles. I had to include them!
Use a gel pen to make some white spots on the ocean. Do you see the whale tail? That's actually a little branch from the Tree Builder Punch in Basic Gray with some white markings.
The birthday sentiment is from the is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set. Use the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut it out.
Here's the inside of the card decorated with more trees and a deer. The sentiment here is from Guy Greetings.
This is John on his birthday. Now I will tell you that there were several years that I just gave him the same birthday card for a couple years straight. He never really noticed. Now he is wise to me and a special card is expected. I don't mind. I love making special cards for special people.
