NC Demo April Blog Hop and a Sneak Peek

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for April.  This month we are honoring women. When I think of women, I think of all of my stamping friends and how lucky I am to have them in my life.  Stamping has truly been a blessing to me.

My card today uses the stamp set Eastern Beauty and the Eastern Medallion Framelits Dies from the Eastern Palace Suite.  This suite will be available for preorder for everyone beginning May 1st.  Here's my card.

NC Demo April Blog Hop

There are several sneak peeks today.  You know that the new 2017-2018 annual catalog will begin on June 1st.  There are so many great new products to see.

  • The card base is Daffodil Delight.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is scored at 4 1/4 to make the standard size card.
  • The patterned paper will be new.  It's called Delightful Daisy.  The top part measures 4 x 4.  It's a Night of Navy print.  The bottom measures 2 x 4.  It's Old Olive.  Tear just a little from the top.  Make sure to make the leaves  go up.
  • The stem is from the same paper pack.  Cut it 1/2 x 2 1/2 and fold a little in from each side.  Glue it down.  This gives the stem just a little dimension.
  • For the flower, cut two of the medallions from Daffodil Delight card stock.  You will need to clip them out from the paper.  Use snips and cut close to the circle. Off set the two medallions and use dimensionals to adhere them.
  • The center of the flower is made using two of the smaller medallions.  Just place one inside the other when cutting them out with the Big Shot.  The Magnetic Plate is a big help!  Use Early Espresso.  Once done, punch out the whole circle with the 2 inch circle punch.  Punch another circle from Soft Suede.  Mount the two.  Mount onto the center of the sunflower.

  • The leaf is cut using the Rose Garden Thinlit Dies from Old Olive card stock.  Mount on the patterned paper with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  Trim away the excess with your snips.
  • Adhere the sunflower and the leaves.
  • The sentiment is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set.  Stamp in Night of Navy on Whisper White.  It's cut out with the Lots of Labels Framelits Dies.
  • The bow is made using another new product.  It's the 1/4 inch Copper Trim.  This is a lovely ribbon.  Attach with a glue dot.

Sunflower 2

Here's the inside of the card.  The stamps are from Eastern Beauty.  Use Daffodil Delight and Night of Navy.

I can't think of a single woman who wouldn't deserve this card!  Share the love.

A Swirly Birthday

I'm working on cards for my classes coming up the first week in May.  Today's card uses the Swirly Bird stamp set.  I really haven't used this one in a while.  I'm also using the Big on Birthdays stamp set.

Swirly Bird birthday

This is pretty much a one layer card, but there is a lot of stamping.

  • The card base is Rich Razzleberry measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4.
  • The Whisper White layer is 4 x 5 1/4.
  • Stamp the sentiment in the center of the white layer.  I used Basic Black Archival ink.  I will admit that I used the MISTI to ensure that the writing is dark and solid.
  • The colors used are Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, Garden Green and Wild Wasabi.  Just stamp away!  I did start with the largest circle first and then filled in with the other flowers.  Some are stamped off for a little lighter color and some are not.  Add in the leaves wherever they will fit.  When you are happy, stop!

Swirly inside

Here's the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from the Beautiful You stamp set.  Just add more flowers and leaves.

Swirly 4

I think this is a happy card and should brighten anyone's day if you want to change the sentiment on the front.  Just let your creative self free!  Thanks for coming by today.

CCMC455 Thursday Challenge

It's the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge once again.  Today we have a great sketch.

Displaying CCMC455.png

I have to admit, I'm a little bit giddy about my card!  Do you know that feeling when a card comes together just like you imagine and maybe even a little bit better?  It doesn't happen often, not to me anyway.  I positively love my card!  I hope you do too!

CCMC455

First of all, let me tell you that this card stock is new!  It's one of the new 2017-2018 In Colors and is called Tranquil Tide.  Yes, I'm a green girl.  I think this green is just lovely.  Did you see the copper with this green?  Classy and elegant!  That's what it is. I'm really not tooting my own horn.  The stars just aligned.

  • The Tranquil Tide card base is cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
  • For this card I went to the wonderful Butterfly Basics stamp set.  It made the cut and will be in the new upcoming catalog!  Using Versamark stamp the honeycomb texture down the left side of the card front.  Of course you need to use your Embossing Buddy first.  Use the Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder and the Heat Tool to set this.
  • Stamp the flower from Butterfly Basics in Tranquil Tide on a piece of 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 Watercolor Paper.
  • Using the Aqua Painter color in the leaves of the flower.  Be very careful that the pen is not using a lot of water.  Keeping a little piece of paper towel close by can be very helpful.  Do not do anything with the flowers.
  • Using Soft Sky and the Aqua Painter color in the area around the flower.  Be very careful.  Squeeze the lid of the pad down to get extra color in the lid.  Once again, try not to get everything too wet.  I painted close to the stamped image, but tried not to touch it.  If you do, the colors will run.  Pull the color out toward the edges of the paper.
  • The sentiment is from the new stamp set Eastern Beauty.  Stamp in Versamark, use the copper powder, and then the heat tool.
  • Use the framelits from Bold Butterfly to cut the butterfly from Whisper White. Cover with Versamark, copper powder, and heat.  After I did this, I realized that I could have just cut the butterfly from the Copper Foil Sheets.  Somehow, I feel my butterfly is a little more artistic!  Attach the butterfly with a dimensional.
  • You'll probably need to adhere the watercolor paper with Fast Fuse.
  • The ribbon is the new 1/4" Copper Trim.  I made three little knots and adhered with glue dots.

CCMC455 inside

The inside sentiment is from the new Eastern Beauty stamp set.  Stamp in Versamark and emboss with the copper powder.  Stamp the flower in Tranquil Tide.

Classy Black and White Stripe

If you have followed me at all, you have probably noticed that I'm not much of a brights person.  The regals, subtles, and yes, the neutrals are more my style.  The black and white stripe found in the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper encourages me to brighten it up.  Here's my card for today.

Falling Flowers and May Flowers

This card uses the Falling Flowers stamp set and the coordinating framelits May Flowers.  This makes for a relatively easy card.

  • The card base is Tempting Turquoise measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
  • The Pop of Pink paper is cut at 4 x 5 1/4.
  • The stamp set Stylized Birthday was stamped on Whisper White card stock in Basic Black Archival ink.  Cut it out with the Layering Circles Framelits Dies.  I used the largest one.  Attach the circle with dimensionals.
  • Use Tempting Turquoise, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, and Rose Red for the leaves and flowers.  Cut out with the matching framelits.  The flowers that are on the circle are glued.  The portions that spill out over the edge are attached with dimensionals.

Falling Flowers inside

Here's the inside of the card.  I added a turquoise flower and olive leaves.  You'll have to write your own words in this one!

If you haven't used the Falling Flowers stamp set and the May Flowers Framelits Dies, I recommend them.  They really work well with the Magnetic Plate.  They even have little notches on the stamp and the dies to help you match them up easily.

Coming soon, Stampin' Up! will introduce a new bundle from the 2017-2018 catalog that goes live June 1st.  It's called the Eastern Palace Suite.  The stamp set is Eastern Beauty and the coordinating thinlits are called Eastern Medallions.  You will love it! Stay tuned for more information in early May.  Today, I'm giving you a sneak peek with this thank you card.

These cards will be thank you notes for sales this month.  They also feature two of the new In Colors for 2017-2019, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist.  These cards are made using the Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes.

  • Cut a piece of Fresh Fig to 3 1/2 x 5.  Cut out three medallions using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies.

  • Use a strip of the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper cut 3/4 x 3 1/2.
